We spent only one evening in Charleston. 82 Queen came highly recommended and I must say it did not disappoint. The restaurant ambiance was perfect...right amount of style, southern charm, sophistication and casual feel. We loved everything from the drinks in the bar to the after-dinner coffee. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We had the most amazing night that began at 82 Queen. Arrived a little early and had drinks in the bar. The outdoor table location was perfect. Our server made recommendations that were exactly as described. The meal was delicious and the ambiance was very romantic.

Ugh. My meal was delicious (I had the vegetable sauté with salmon added on top), and the bread was superb! The ambience and seating was so romantic - great date night restaurant!

We were seated in an upstairs room with only 2 tables. A large family was there, but left soon after we arrived. Our waiter was extremely attentive without being hovering. He made great recommendations for our dinner selections and everything was fabulous. The fried green tomatoes weren't quite as good as the ones we had at Magnolia's 2 days earlier, but everything else, including dessert was wonderful. We highly recommend this restaurant.

We have been eating at 82 for years and this visit truly did not live up to previous visits. I had the pork chop, it was small and even though not over cooked it was dry (not sure how this could have happened). Our out of town guests got the BBQ Shrimp and Grits at our recommendation and happily they lived up to all our brags. My husband had the gumbo with fried oysters - was a horrible disappointment. Oysters were over cooked and the gumbo, according to him and he is a true gumbo lover, was a horrible mess of "stuff" with little flavor. Since our guest were pleased with their choice we made no complaint at the table, knew that we would have an opportunity to rate later. Plus I will be making a call to the restaurant. We need for 82 to return to their previous quality of food !!!

I especially like 82 Queen for lunch or brunch, because the courtyard is one of the prettiest places is town. We were lucky enough to have perfect weather when we were, but there are several indoor rooms as well if it's too hot or cold (plus covered seating outdoors). Their She Crab soup is fabulous. The menu changes frequently and there's daily specials. I recommend the Crabcake BLT, the Tomato Pie and the BBQ shrimp & grits. And don't miss the pomegranate mimosas!

I had the duck, which was very tasty. My date had the chicken. We had a bottle of the Turley Zinfandel with our dinner and it was very good. Our server was very attentive. This is a great spot for outdoor dining. The trees are light up with little white lights and the chair backs are butterflies and seashells. Very romantic setting. There is a parking garage right across the street. Very convenient as the restaurant is in the historic district and parking is hard to find.

82 Queen is a beautiful setting, but our service was extremely poor and the quality of the food was very disappointing. We had reservations for 7:00pm, and we were promptly seated in a comfortable and attractive setting. The menu listed a number of items that sounded interesting and the available wine choices were good. After we ordered, the cup of she crab soup that I ordered as an appetizer arrived in a reasonable length of time, and it was good. However, after that, our server disappeared and was not seen again until 8:00pm, an hour after we were seated. I'm sure that he just forgot about us. (Other staff members could see that we were seated at an empty table looking unhappy but did nothing to assist us.) At 8:00 pm, our server appeared with our entrees and placed them in front of us with no comment. When we commented on our lengthy wait, he said, "The kitchen is very busy," but made no apology. My companion, who had ordered duck, sent it back immediately because you could see that it was totally dried out. I should have sent my entree back at the same time, but the presentation was attractive so I decided to try it. The server did return almost immediate with a new plate of duck that looked much better. In fact, he was so quick that I was just taking the first bite of my entree. He ran off immediately without asking how my meal was or if he could do anything else for us. My meal, the catch of the day, was tasteless and the fish had a mushy consistency. The second plate of duck was moist but had very little sauce. We did not see our server again until he brought our bill. Our food probably sat in the kitchen for 30 or 40 minutes and was probably better when first prepared. I suspect that our experience was not typical. However, we were charged over $100 for a meal that was terrible and serve that was even worse.
