We were seated outside in one of the courtyards. It was a cold night, however the side panels and space heaters performed well, so we were very comfortable. The music was loud enough to interfere with table conversations, however the wait person was able to turn it down to a reasonable level...can't say that listening to James Brown sing "In A Cold Sweat" did anything to set the mood for a casual dinner. They also use metal chairs on a brink floor, so it was very noisy whenever patrons were seated, or left their table. We had the crab cake entree. The crab cakes were very good, as was the succotash. Ambivalent regarding a return.

Went for brunch and got the Crab Cake Benedict. Really good! And the service was great! Our waiter Corwin was the best! He gave us complimentary iced coffees and made us feel like we were regulars even though it was our first time and we were visiting from out of town. Will definitely go back to 82 Queen the next time we go to Charleston.

When in Charleston we try to eat at the best restaurants around and 82 Queen is at the top of the list. We enjoy the outdoor courtyard in the warm months and the smaller rooms on wet and cool nights. The food is outstanding each and every time we visit and this trip was no exception. I had a special snapper fish dinner and my wife had the wonderful crab cakes. The vegetables and sides were perfect compliment to a meal fit for royalty. Can't wait to visit next time.

I usually do not write reviews, but this experience deserves an outstanding review! The service, food and ambiance was OUTSTANDING!! Best place I have ate at in Charleston. Not enough good words could be said about this place!!

This was our 7th or 8th visit to 82Queen and sadly, it will be our last. We were seated in an attractive and well-decorated room with one other party and my husband, son and I were bored - there was no liveliness or ambiance. No people-watching, no laughter, - nothing. At one point, the music system stopped and it was dead quiet in our dining room. Our waiter, who was excellent, quickly fixed the situation. My rib eye was huge and tasty, my asparagus consisted of three narrow shoots- narrower than my pinky- that were smothered by the steak and overcooked. I actually thought that they were scallions. Too many garlic mashed potatoes, tasty but too rich to pair with a steak. roasted herbed potatoes would have been a better choice. My husband's crab cakes were ok, just ok. The red rice as the side was not a good choice and the sauce for the crab cakes was flavorless. A simple pilaf or lightly seasoned steamed rice and fresh vegetables together with a more flavorful sauce would have been better. My son had the scallops, which were very tasty, but were served over sweet potato pilaf. Why?! A simple lemon flavored pilaf would have been better. Why why why add sweet potatoes to pilaf? I love them but not in pilaf. My 21 year old, not a picky eater by any means, ate the pilaf only because he was hungry. He does not like sweet potatoes. I think that 82 Queen needs to fill up the larger dining rooms and concentrate on simpler, better - prepared food, including plenty of fresh vegetables. I have a number of other suggestions as well but this review is long enough.

Food was super. Request area other than green house for dining. Floor is brick, chairs are heavy, the grating of chairs on floor ruined evening, every time someone got up or down it was like nails on a chalkboard. Extremely annoying. We were told other areas were better, too late to save my evening!

It was a great experience for my wife and I. 82 Queen has always been one of my favorite Restaurants anywhere, not just in Charleston. I even used to work there in the late eighties and early nineties as a waiters assistance.

One of the best meals we had our entire stay in Charleston. Short walk for us, across from The Mills House, but even a drive would have been worth it. We will be back!
