Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining (with both tall propane and foot heaters} at 740 Front in Historic Downtown Louisville. Designated historical, 740 is one of Colorado's two oldest remaining saloons; transformed back to its 1904 roots; a traditional American dining saloon with a turn of the century ambiance featuring a magnificent room dominating bar, built in 1880 by the Brunswick Company,. The copper spit trough, once equipped with running water, still exists at the front of the bar. Louisville, notorious for its drinking, gambling, and illegal activities, evidence of the occasional misunderstanding is the .22 caliber bullet hole in the front bar.

Delicious food and great service. Their food is simple yet delicious and we will be returning very soon. Cute, fixed up saloon in downtown Louisville. We can't say enough good about our evening.
When we first arrived it was early. 5:00 not many people there. The hostess was a bit snobby but we let it go but it was not a great way to start our dinner reservation. Our waiter was great, a bit busy? but the food was good and the wine was excellent. We eat out a couple of times a week and it may be awhile before we go back, but I do not think they will care. Suzy
Thank you so much for your feedback. You are absolutely right, that is no way to start and evening dining out. I sincerely apologize for your treatment and appreciate the wake up call. I can assure you that we will use your comments as a training tool with all of our employees to assure that all guests are greeted with a warm and welcoming approach. First impressions are lasting impressions. Again, thank you for the feedback, we hope to see you again at 740 Front Sincerely Fred Burns, Proprietor
Our waiter was friendly and informative. The food was top quality.
We will come here again!
Food was amazing and our waiter was so great. All the staff was welcoming and helpful!!
Great burger and cocktail. Beautiful dining room with tables well spaced.
Best restaurant ever. The food is amazing. The restaurant is beautiful too
Dinner for 3 adults was a lovely outing and one we intend to repeat due to great food and superb service.
Great owners and service. Wine prices by the bottle were outstanding.
We had a very nice evening to celebrate a friend's birthday. Our food was excellent, from the appetizers; Grilled Artichoke, Hot Cheese Dip, to the entrees; Seafood Cannelloni, Braised Short Ribs, 8oz Filet, NY Strip Dinner, Steak Kabobs. The Braised Short Ribs were the stand-out winner - the Left Hand Milk Stout really shined through and the beef was so tender we cut it with our forks. The restaurant itself is just charming and very comfortable. Unfortunately, our waiter didn't seem to be interested in bringing our drinks in a timely manor or without being asked several times. He also did nothing to acknowledge the birthday we were celebrating. $310.00 for dinner for 2 couples was a lot to spend.
Thank you for the your wonderful comments about the food and ambience. I sincerely apologize for the service & not acknowledging the birthday. Your experience is certainly not to the standards we expect or set for our staff. I will use your comments to address our staff about the importance of properly communicating with their guests, & keeping them informed, if things are backed up or slow. I Hope you will give us another opportunity & please ask for me. I owe you & guests dessert. Fred
Wonderful food variety and choices on the menu with a good variety of prime steaks including the baseball bison that is fantastic as well as the sea bass and crab legs!!
Nice list of wine choices for pairing with dinner choices!!
Beautiful interior with the historical aspect and beautiful ambience with decor!
Great local spot with lots of history in the walls. . I ordered filet mingon to be cooked medium rare and it was perfect. The owner came by and introduced himself and even helped clear plates from our table.
Richard our server and Fred the owner were absolutely AMAZING. Food was off the charts - we got manicotti and chicken. The ambiance and environment were also great too. Must visit restaurant and we’ll 100% definitely be back.
The food was delicious, nice area. Would definitely recommend.
Great food in a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. Excellent service.
AMAZING as always!!! My fave restaurant in Louisville, hands down. I’ve never had an even mediocre experience. Always over the top.
This is a great place for a special occasion. They really made our anniversary celebration wonderful. Thank you.
Great food, our server was great, the owner/manager/whatever was a jerk. There was discrepancy on our bill because we were charged more than what the menu listed. When the manager came over he spoke loud enough to be heard by the other tables in the room which was embarrassing enough but also spoke like I was stupid and then tried to blame it on "the system" they use didn't update the prices or something. It was humiliating
He was so unprofessional and ruined an otherwise nice evening. I will not return.
Wow!! Not the result I had hoped for when asked to approach your table about your questions on your bill. I sincerely apologize. I intended to explain that on the Ala Carte items you had when a add-on item is ordered, as you did, that the price is added into the entree price. This is not ideal but your pricing & bill were correct. I apologize again if I made you fill humiliated not my intent. I only hope you will look past my poor handling of the situation and give 740 another opportunity.
Excellent, attentive service. The food was amazing! The clam chowder was flavorful and hot! I had the filet and crab legs. My steak was cooked perfectly and the crab was a tasty accompaniment. This was our first time going and we will absolutely return!
Beautifully cooked steak and detectible dungeness crab.
We visit 740 Front often and they never disappoint!
The only reason I marked ambiance down was because it isn't as nice sitting outside as inside.
No bread available, supposedly because of COVID. Food was good but not up to 740 Front's usual outstanding level.
Thank you for your feedback sorry for your disappointment. FYI bread will be coming as we get out of this Covid mess, because of capacity limitations and that we can not order enough to meet minimums for bread delivery on the great bread we had. The bread has no preservatives and doesn't last long enough for us to order only a couple of times a week. WE will eventually get there and look forward to seeing you at 740 Front again. Fred, Proprietor
Everything was amazing!! Our server was attentive, the my my strip was cooked perfectly and I highly recommend the creme brûlée!!
We arrived at 7:40, only 5 minutes early for our reservation. We were sat at 7:45 on the dot and the hostess served us some water. We waited 12 minutes for a waiter and nobody showed, so we left. I received a phone call from Fred, the owner about 15 minutes after we left, in which he said there were cameras and he knows when we sat and it was for 5 minutes. Accusing me of lying about how long we sat... wow! Talk about adding the cherry on top. He went on about how the servers had 6 tables each, yet two waiters had enough time to talk to the hostess at the front and check the tablet. The only reason we noticed is because we were sat at the table right next the stand. Longer story short we left and will probably not return, especially after being accused of lying.
We understand times are rough, but to get a phone call accusing us of lying about how long we sat instead of just apologizing, was very rude.
I am very sorry if calling you out of concern for the wellbeing of my guests and restaurant came across as rude. Out of this concern, I reviewed our security cameras to try & understand, they showed you had been seated only a very short period of time. I called trying to understand what would have caused someone to get up and leave after such a short time. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience and misunderstanding. And yes, times are rough and we value every guest.
Waited rather long to get water and service once seated, approx 15 minutes. Once server got to us everything was fantastic.
We loved this restaurant. Everyone was nice and genuine. We are starting to go back out and started here. Food was fantastic. Drinks were great! There bartender roxy, makes her own. They were amazing! We will definitely be back.
Would have liked bread service. Too expensive not to have that
Lisa - we too, would like to offer bread. Unfortunately, due to Covid 19 capacity restrictions we are not able to meet purveyor minimum orders to receive regular bread deliveries. The breads we use have no preservatives and do not last much longer than one or two days before staling. As soon as we get closer to normal and regular capacity and business we will certainly offer the quality bread we had pre-covid. Sincerely Fred Burns, Proprietor
Great dinner & Talen was a friendly and knowledgeable server. The filet was delicious, along with the crab.
We really enjoyed our dinner. Food was excellent as was the service. We sat outside which was quite warm with heaters, but look forward to eating inside next time. The bar is beautiful and love the ambience inside. Highly recommend!
The food and ambiance are wonderful. Cynthia the bar tender is great. Lovely outdoor seating.
Fantastic service and the best filet mignon I’ve ever had! Thank you for the delicious chocolate birthday desert!
We went for our Anniversary and had a lovely night. It was quiet, the food was exceptional and we were treated to Chocolate Mousse. Highly recommend this experience!
Awesome. As always. Thanks Robin + Fred!
The food was excellent. Our waiter was fantastic!!!! We WILL be back!!! Thank you.
Service was great! Desert was delicious - but main entrees were just salty and lacking. Husband got stomach upset - meatloaf way too salty.
Service was excellent, attentive but not hovering, friendly, no excess wait times. Cocktails were delicious and selection was great. Food was excellent, served hot and all at same time for a pretty big group. Very nice decor and comfortable atmosphere. Overall had an excellent dining experience.
awesome ownership and local restaurant. Love the food and atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We had a variety of ages and tastes and we all had a great time. Food was delicious and staff super friendly.
great friendly place with good service and food.
Very pleasant setting and atmosphere with a beautiful bar. Food and service were excellent. If you knew the Old Louisville Inn before, the renovation was well worth it 👍
