“One of Colorado's 10 most iconic, historic restaurants and a Must Eat” Denver Post, July 2018
Please join us at 740 Front in Historic Downtown Louisville. Designated historical, 740 is one of Colorado's two oldest remaining saloons; transformed back to its 1904 roots; a traditional American dining saloon with a turn of the century ambiance featuring a magnificent room dominating bar, built in 1880 by the Brunswick Company,. The copper spit trough, once equipped with running water, still exists at the front of the bar. Louisville, notorious for its drinking, gambling, and illegal activities, evidence of the occasional misunderstanding is the .22 caliber bullet hole in the front bar.
The bar offers a selection of craft beers, wines,  handcrafted cocktails and an extensive craft bourbon selection.
Dinner Tue. thru Sat. From casual to fine dining.

We went to 740 Front because we had a gift card and honestly would not return. We had a 5:30 reservation on a Thursday evening - restaurant was not busy at all. My wife got the steak kabobs and the meat was tough with gristle. I got a flatiron steak which was very good. Our server was not very attentive for the volume of patrons in the restaurant - we waited several minutes before being asked about a drink order. At the close of the meal our server gave us the dessert menu and we had picked out a dessert to share. When the server did not come back for 10+ minutes, we decided against dessert. It was a good meal, but nothing special and the service was below par for a restaurant trying to be upscale. We'll not return.

Barry, I am very disappointed to hear about your dissatisfaction with 740 Front. I apologize about the service you recieved as this is not our standard. In the future, we would appreciate you letting us know when there is an issue with products so that we can rectify it to your satisfaction. Unfortunately, with mother nature, about 5% of beef is not up to standard, regardless of the cut. It is only identifiable after being cooked. Good example is your experience, the cuts that you and your wife had were the same cut of meat. The kabob is a flat iron steak that we cube and marinate. One was good and one was not. We do hope that you will give 740 Front an another opportunity to serve you and see that your experience was an exception and not the norm.

Second time at the restaurant. 1st time was much better, hence the repeat reservation. Unfortunately this time around, meat was overcooked, salad was over dressed. Very little follow up by the server. Host was very unfriendly. Not worth going back.

Food was very marginal. I ordered a $45 filet and it was so thin that there was no way you could call it a filet or cook it to medium rare. $45 was for a piece of meat only!!! Not even a small scoop of mashed potatoes?? We ordered the bread basket (for a cost) and the bread was very dry. There was a basketball game on and it was very loud. We had not been to 740 for a while, we used to enjoy it, but we won't return.

We are very sorry to hear that we missed the boat with you, Edie. I just wanted to let you know that the small 6 oz filet that you had is a prime cut which costs us $56 a pound. This is a very fair deal at $45. Sorry to hear that your bread was dry and that the crowds were too nosiy for you. Its a very exciting time in sports right now with the NBA and NHL playoffs. We are sorry to lose you as a customer. Fred Burns Proprietor

The bison filet that was recommended was tough and the asparagus cold. My partner had chicken and corn dish was ok.

The service was great. We really enjoyed our cocktails and appetizers. Our main dishes were disappointing other than the short rib entree. The steaks were either way over or undercooked, and the waygu flank steak tasted like it had been freezer burnt.

Recently had an outstanding meal there. The highlight was the 45-day dry aged ribeye, which was perfectly prepared. I opted for the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach sides, which were also fantastic. Great cocktails, hisoric building with plenty of charm, and servers were all on their game. I'll be going back soon.

I’ve lived in the area for more than 30 years and never managed to visit this lovely establishment. Family was in town and we needed something close to their hotel to celebrate birthdays. 740 Front Street didn’t disappoint. The ambience is charming and cozy. What a history??!! Make sure you read the back of the menu. Everyone cleaned their plates, and the service was top notch! Thank you so much for a wonderful family outing. Highly recommended.

This was our first dining experience at 740 Front. We were with two out of state friends and all enjoyed the ambiance and service. We were seated at a table next to the bar and the entrance so it was quite loud and people were shuffling by to be seated. We were OK with that but had to talk a bit louder to hear each other. The service was EXCELLENT! We loved the beautiful bar and our drinks were very good. The only issue was with the food. Our friends seemed to enjoy their entrees - sea bass and a special of the day which was a pasta with chicken and corn. We had the bison filet (which was very good) and the steak kabobs and grilled shrimp skewer. The steak kabob (I don’t know what cut of beef) was very tough and chewy. There was quite a bit of gristle in it. I was able to cut around and get a few bites of beef that were edible. The shrimp was almost raw. Rather than disrupt our dinner with friends, I chose to just eat a few bites and bring the rest home for our dog - which made her very happy! Our bill was over $268. We enjoyed the ambiance and service but not sure we will visit again.

The ambiance is great, very neat place. Some of the food was outstanding, some was not, but that may have just come down to personal taste. The drinks were phenomenal though.
