My wife and I dined for the first time at 456 Fish on a Sunday evening in mid-January. That day of the week was perfect for a quiet date night. About half the tables were occupied, the music was soft and jazzy, and we talked in a normal tone. I was impressed by the decor, a throwback 1930s look. The wine selection was excellent for seafood. We enjoyed a fine Zinfandel from north California. We passed on apps and went straight for the entrees. I had lump crab and scallops -- super delicious. My wife had lump crab cakes -- super delicious. Later, I enjoyed the ala mode bread pudding and my wife enjoyed a chocolate martini for desserts. The outdoor weather was horrid with heavy rains and gusty winds on this night. However, inside the 456 Fish, the atmosphere and almost heaven. I highly recommend 456 Fish for couples.
Dress code is strictly enforced at this restaurant which is a good thing! The bar and dining area have a nice vibe. The food was amazing. I had the crab stuffed flounder. The crab was plentiful and tasty and the flounder was cooked to perfection. It was served on a bed of garlic mashed potatoes with large asparagus spears on the side. Our server was friendly, helpful, and timed ordering appetizers and dinner well, so we had time to fully enjoy both without feeling rushed. The wine and drink selection was very good. I enjoyed the crème brûlée for dessert. The rest of my party had the bread pudding which they raved about. Highly recommend 456 Fish for a date night or an intimate dinner with friends. I can’t wait to return and try more of the menu!
We had a nice table location. We had not been since Covid hit, but the crab cakes were just as delicious as before. My son’s blackened tuna was exceptional, too. Looking forward to returning in near future. Excellent service, too-very attentive and they did a great job of continually wiping everything down for cleanliness.
The shrimp pasta dish ($36 for three large shrimps & 1 scallop) was watery and soupy—the chef tried to improve it by adding Alfredo sauce, but it was disappointing.
The surf & turf was just okay—the steak tasted like it was precooked hours before it was served to us.
The service was excellent but overall not a good value for $120.00.
First time there. Dinner before show at Chrysler Center. The location was great. The atmosphere was wonderful. Service by Ethan was great. Food was wonderful with great presentation. Portions were reasonable. Stuff flounder highly recommended. My wife thought crab cakes were delicious. Service was aware of our plans and were wonderful in being sure we had plenty of time to make show on time. I can’t wait to go back. Anyone visiting Norfolk, you won’t be disappointed.
Great value and food with a knowledgeable staff that knows how to make guests feel welcomed.
Val was outstanding as our server. The Wednesday
“Date Night” special menu was a terrific value! Highly recommend the tuna and the salmon, both recommendations from Val. We will be back to try the regular dinner menu as well.
Excellent as always, except for the person’s phone going off every 5 minutes with an annoying sound.
Server was good
Food was bland and cold
Presentation on the food was trash
Ambience was lovely
But I came to eat and left starving so I went home and made tombstone
Wonderful night- celebrating my wife’s Birthday. Swordfish special was innovative and delicious. She-crab, crab cakes and tuna were also well received. Service was attentive and friendly and thorough. Fun, enjoyable night.
Because of Covid we haven't been to 456 in over a year. It was so very fun to go back. Food, service and value were all outstanding. Looking forward to our next visit soon.
Delicious food and great service.
Great service by Ethan ! We had ticket to the sympony and he made sure we had plenty of time to eat and to get to our show. Food was excellent !
The food was good, but not outstanding. There are very limited non seafood choices.
In addition to our salads and vegan appetizer we offer: Lamb Shank with Carrots, Potatoes and Gremolatta - Pan Seared Airline Chicken with Risotto, Asparagus and Mushroom Sauce - Bone-In Pork Chop with Potatoes, Ratatouille and Peach Chutney - Chicken Alfredo with Garlic and Parmesan Cheese - the Pasta Primavera is a vegan dish and the Filet Oscar can be ordered without Crab. Please let us know what else you may be looking for when dining at 456 Fish. Happy to accommodate all requests we can.
Server - Jennavieve - was great. We had a great meal and a nice, easy pace and made it to Chrysler Hall in plenty of time for the show.
Great BARTENDER, mocktail specialist! Exceptional Martini’s
Our fried oyster appetizer melted in our mouth….unbelievable!
Delicious blacked Swordfish special.
The brownie was a great touch for our birthday celebration!
See you soon.
Romantic Christmas Getaway Night in Norfolk
Service was great, food could use a little more seasoning but still good for the value.
My wife and I were looking to get away for dinner 456 Fish is a winner. Service was excellent. Dinner was amazing. We enjoyed the at home atmosphere. Will be making plans to visit again
Show at Chrysler
We had a fantastic dinner for our anniversary. Food was top notch. Only draw back was the loud music for a classy restaurant. Was also a little disappointed that the dress code is not enforced. We enjoyed dressing up for a night out, but there were people there in jeans and t-shirts. Why have a dress code if it isn't supported? Takes away from the overall experience. Food trumps it all though. Would definitely go back!
Great dinner at 456 Fish. Service was excellent and attentive without being overwhelming. Kitchen was very gracious and accommodated my substitution request with the Mahi special. Fish (Mahi and Salmon) was cooked perfectly as always. Risotto and carrots were outstanding. Finished with the bread pudding. Great evening and experience.
We are returning patrons to 4-5-6 Fish. We went this time for the Wednesday Date Night special and must commend the incredible deal this is. The food and wine is very very good.
Note to restaurant: Since there is a limited menu for this special, we would like to suggest you offer a substitution when you run out of an entree, as you did last night with the seared tuna, so as not to limit the menu further.
Our usual server, Sidney, was out sick, so Lauren served our table. It was her first night serving and she gave it her best shot, but her "trainer" was not very helpful to her. Opening bottles of wine for the first time can be difficult. Lauren was very polite and personable.
We will definitely be back and highly recommend 4-5-6 Fish.
Delicious, great service and welcoming ambiance! Great value on date night.
We had an excellent experience at 456-Fish. Our server was attentive but not too attentive. We had the Seafood Etoufee special, the scallops and crab risotto, crab cakes and the Creole grouper. ALL delicious! Everyone enjoyed their dinners very much. Highly recommend 456 for a special dinner.
Thanksgiving dinner with friend. The platter was very good with nice variety. Service was outstanding *
Thanksgiving meal was great.
What a joyous way to spend an evening! We can’t wait to return! The food and atmosphere were stupendous!
Server mannerism void
during this 15% fine dining
Date night Wednesday menu is well worth the trip. The food was very good and the service excellent.
Soup and salad were brought at same time as our appetizer which was not acceptable but it was rectified quickly and we enjoyed our food
The food was delicious and our waiter was attentive and helpful! I eat gluten free and he was able to verify ingredients with the kitchen. Everything about our experience was excellent - including dessert! Highly recommend chocolate cheesecake!!
They were great with accommodating a late arrival, due to traffic. Crab stuffed flounder was very good, except that my friend's was undercooked. They were happy to make a new one, but I had finished mine by the time my friend's was served. Some compensation should have been offered for the issue. Otherwise, a great visit.
Ein, was our waiter and was on point ,all the staff worked together so well during a busy evening.
Arrived a bit early for 6PM reservation prior to 8PM Broadway show at Chrysler Hall. Had a great server and a great meal at a very relaxing pace - which allowed us to walk to the show well before the theater doors opened. shrimp, scallops, crab bisque, and pork chop were all great.
Reservations needed. Courteous and efficient servers. Nice seafood menu.
Great service, excellent food, and very enjoyable!
Val is super attentive and nice. This restaurant group has serious loyal employees who know what good service means. From the host stand to the kitchen. This is always a wonderful experience!
We were seated as soon as we arrived to the restaurant. The service was great; however, it did take a few awhile to receive our food. Everyone was pleased with their order. The bar was slow fixing drinks, but the drinks were good once they arrived.
The food was excellent; we had fried oysters and the crab stuffed flounder. Service was a little off from what I would typically expect, but certainly not bad. Highly recommend this restaurant.
