Late night meal. Perfect
Duck breast was very dry. Service was very good. We were seated near the bar and noise level was good.
Highly enjoyable experience, as always. I have not been for quite some time actually, was probably pre-Covid the last time I was there. The menu of course has had to evolve accordingly with staff and supply shortages. I missed the sushi and raw bar options, but am understanding of the changing times. Had the marinieres mussels and coq au vin and loved both. Others at the table had the burger, shrimp Provençal and short rib, also fantastic. Our server was highly attentive and impactful, fluid service all around. Front of house staff was great. Thanks for a great experience!
This place never disappoints ! I try my best to stop by every time that i'm in Charleston. The fried goat cheese salad is absolutely great ( i usually do not like goat cheese...), i have it every visit! Great wine selection as well. Also, very important, the service was wonderful, very knowledgeable and friendly. Tammy, our server made a great experience even better!!!!
We loved the food, we couldn’t stop commenting on how good each bite was! Wish we had room for dessert but portions were really generous and we had to finish our plates bc it was that tasty.
Ambiance was really nice and staff was friendly. Would def recommend!
Servers didn’t wear masks.
Food took over an hour to come out.
This restaurant is so good! Me and my boyfriend celebrated our first year anniversary there and we had the best waiter, he was so focused on making sure we had everything, he was so helpful with the menu, and the food came out so fast. Also, the food is absolutely the most delicious we’ve ever had. The dessert too! It is pretty pricey, but it’s great for special events!
Excellent service. Server Jason went over and above. Not only excellent service but when I forgot my credit card he ran outside to return it.
Great French restaurant, great good and a huge wine list if you are a wine person. I deff recommend their mussels in 1 of the 6 different broths you can get them in and the bread they give you dipped in the sauce, OMG...SO GOOD! A bit pricey but reasonable for a good date night or occasional nice dinner.
My fiancé and I went there for dinner while visiting Charleston. The food was great, wonderful service, and we love the ambience. Will definitely go back next time we are in town!
Service was great and food was outstanding. Noise level was high.
I loved the atmosphere of 39 Rue de Jean. It was busy but you could still have a conversation. I had the Veal Blanquette which was wonderful. My wife had the Chicken Francaise which was equally good. Top those off with a Parisian Manhattan which was very interesting, and it was a fantastic dinner.
Overall we really enjoyed our meal. The food and the service were great. The desserts were the only weak point. They were ok, but, not great.
Three menu items not offered Heavy handed on crushed RPepper, shrimp Provençal. No Hennessy to end dinner.
Rue de Jean never disappoints! Consistently great food, excellent service and a great wine menu!
The food was presented and prepared well, and it tasted excellent. Our waiter, Thomas, was entertaining, a delightful conversationalist, an excellent waiter who foresaw our needs before we had to ask.
The noise level was a little due to a full restaurant.
Fabulous food as always, but the server was not very good or attentive. Not like usual service. I’m sure they are understaffed like everywhere else!
Rue de Jean is wonderful for special occasions and superb cuisine and service.
I had the Confit leg of duck. I went around 5p. While it was good, it did not appear freshly prepared and my friends fish was cold. The waiter promptly returned her dish. The winter salad was the best part of the meal.
Nice atmosphere and personable service. Wide variety of wines. Scallops and chocolate cake was delicious!
It was restaurant week, and the waitress kept taking us off that menu. They were out of one of the two entrees, early in the evening. One of the desserts on that menu was not good.
Loved every bit of our visit here. From the warm French ambiance to the food and wine selection and the great service. Our waiter was knowledgeable and gave great recommendations, our meal was perfectly cooked and very flavorful. We really enjoyed our experience here from start to finish.
Tammy was a great waitress, very social and fun. Took special care of us for our wedding anniversary.
Went during restaurant week. The duck was overcooked and the sides were just blah.
everything on the menu is delicious. the wait staff was courteous and prompt. great feel
Everything was perfect as usual
I visited 7 months ago and gave it 5 stars. Service was superb. This visit was a 180 degree difference. Service was on par to what I would expect from Ruby Tuesdays. Staff seemed overwhelmed and unsure of themselves. There was no pride in service. It was super sad.
$45 market price steak frites. Def not prime, right tough.
This was our first time dining at Rue de Jean and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere is lovely, quiet and intimate. Out service was perfectly attentive and friendly. We were pleasantly surprised at the generous food portions that was absolutely delicious! We found another gem to add to our date night rotation.
The house wine was great and the food was very tasty!!
Great experience, service was top notch and food was excellent!
Our dinner is a mixed review. The mussels were excellent. The scallops were the best part of our meal - really excellent! The salad was mundane and mostly greens not beets or goat cheese. The location next to the Music Hall very convenient. We sat out on the heated patio but inside was very appealing. We would return.
The food tasted burnt and lacking flavor.
Always a great place to dine!
Rue De Jean has a really pleasant atmosphere and JJ was such a personable server. Our food was outstanding and authentic, and you can count on us dining here again!
My friends and I throughly enjoyed our experience at Rue de Jean.
Our server was well versed in the menu and she made excellent recommendations. We enjoyed a wide range of appetizers, entrees and drinks. We are looking forward to coming back!
The hostess Sophia led us to the perfect table, and our server JJ was exceptional. Great food. Great atmosphere.
Always enjoy coming to 39 Rue de Jean. The food and service is always impeccable and always consistent. Dined at the bar last night with a girlfriend and the bartenders were absolutely the best. So friendly and engaging with the customers.
Had a craving for crème brûlée- and this place did not disappoint! We also had some cocktails that were fantastic. Ambiance was perfect for date night. We want to come back and try some of the entrees they offer!
