Generally fine - attentive service, food was well-presented and delicious. They should go easy on the salt though, particularly with the fries.
This was a business lunch and they got us in and out with no drama or issues. The food is always inventive and paired with the right wine or other beverages. Great place to explore some wine pairings.
Cosy, rustic wine bar. Great wine, however small portion sizes when it comes to the food.
Lekker gegeten, vriendelijke bediening. Minountje was dat de champagne niet koud genoeg was en daar wisten ze niet direct een oplossing voor te bieden. Het ijslands lam was mals en perfect klaargemaakt.
I found this place to be a bit loud for a weeknight. The food was enjoyable and the wine was decent enough. I found that I enjoyed Noble Rot much more for a similar style place.
been here several times now - always friendly without being obtrusive, good food, pleasant ambience.
Very pleasant lunch in you are in the City - reasonable prices, good food and wine and service
First time at this restaurant, really excellent, food was so good, we were delighted
We met up with friends and went to the Fetter Lane branch. I had bought some fish to eat the following day and they put it in their fridge for me. All waiters were very friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Two of us had cod which was perfectly cooked, the other teo burgers which were also very good. The wine recommendations were matching very well. Can fully recommend this restaurant. We will go back and so are our friends.
Gen of find. Hidden away at basement level only, but really nice overall experience in an area where they’re really aren’t many restaurants.
Food excellent, slightly cold in the venue but that may be because it was a really cold night. Only slight bugbear was the attitude of one of the waitresses who I think is the lead waitress. She was offkey with my questions and I felt that I was an intrusion on her time when in fact all I was asking was directions to the bathroom. It wasn't as if the restaurant was full either. Otherwise a good evening.
A great find. i cant say enough as to how much we enjoyed all aspects of your visit. Atmosphere food service and staff were all excellent.
We were very happy with our choice of restaurant - we wanted a leisurely dining experience near our hotel after a long day of travelling. The food was very good, the rib-eye steak even fantastic, there was a good selection of wines. Service was friendly enough. Good value for money if You are in the neighbourhood.
Excellent meal and terrific choice of wines. Great private dining area for our group of 10.
Must visit for wine lovers. Went to 28-50 to celebrate my birthday with friends. Great wines, fantastic food and service. Wine list is regularly kept up to date, meaning every time you go is another excitement.
Cozy and nice ambient to meet friends and chat. Extended wine list but poor menu. We ordered a cheese platter with our wine - was tasty but tiny... I think needs improvement.
Overall it was ok and I would like to visit the other stores.
Great restaurant offering a simple but great choice of foods. Wine was great and a good deals are on offer, good venue for business lunches and dinners. Great ambiance.
Excellent food, bistro style, interesting and lovely wine choices (and although we didn't try it, a Monday option of Bring Your Own). Despite being a basement open space, felt intimate. Easy for conversation without overhearing others or being overheard.
Really nice place, busy but still quiet enough to have a conversation. Good food with friendly and helpful staff.
The offer was a good one. The service was really nice the only thing that I would say is that the tables were too close together
Great service, fabulous selection of wine. So flexible half of the table went for the set menu and the other half order from evening menu with ease.
Waitress was attentive, personable and very knowledgeable.
Highly recommend 28-50
Really enjoyed this restaurant. Nice atmosphere, great food and great service.
This place is a hidden gem. Loved it and the wine was brilliant. It is tucked away on fetter Lane in the city and when you walk through the entrance and down the stairs, it will surprise you as to how nice the ambiance is there. I was very pleased with the snacks, starters, mains, desserts and the whiskey I had at the end. Service was brilliant and staff were attentive.
Great food, excellent wine list, will return.
Perfect spot for a business lunch.
I was most impressed that they immediately knew about my very special dietary requirements and catered for them superbly. Food is presented beautifully and it is very fresh. The choice of wine by glass and size of glsss is exceptional. It is a little haven of sophistication yet friendly warmth in Fetter Lane. I love it.
We eat in the city a lot for corporate lunches and I don't think this restaurant is good value. I thought the service was slow and the staff were not attentive. Two of us had wine and they waiter didn't ask if the other guests dining wanted something else to drink, we had to prompt this. We had the salmon off the special menu and it was a small portion and expensive for what it was. Unfortunately we would not come back to this restaurant as it didn't wow us enough. The food was very nice but not good value for money and the service needs improving.
Business lunch. We all ended up opting for the set menu. Food came quickly and was cooked as ordered. Espresso was good to round off. No complaints
Great find. Food was excellent, the staff charming and the atmosphere a delight after a very busy morning.
I had a great chicken dish which was attractively served and my guests had the risotto and a steak dish.
A little gem ! Tucked away in the basement of a fairly anonymous building at the Fleet St end of Fetter Lane it would be easy to miss this. But you'd be missing a treat.
Excellent menu choices at fairly reasonable prices on the a la carte - and the fixed price lunch menu is extremely good value.
Very interesting wine list.
Pleasant bistro-type seating makes for a pleasant ambience.
I'll be going back for sure !
This was a nice venue for a working lunch, close to many city firms, with perfectly good food and wine, but nothing particularly memorable.
We had lunch here and mostly chose from the special lunch menu which was very good value and delicious. Staff were very friendly and without being overly-attentive. Highly recommended (especially the steak and the Dover sole!)
Ever reliable, Virv and the team make you feel very welcome. Interesting and varied wine list, good food, excellent value set lunch option, and always a positive and busy hum.
French bistro style food in a warm setting that is a great match for their huge and varied wine list. I've been going for years and it never misses a beat.
As always, excellent food and service and a busy atmosphere. Perfect for lunch (have never been for dinner).
Nice restaurant, had their early meal deal that was very good value, no rush, pleasant rustic atmosphere
The service was friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent.
Having enjoyed other 28-50 locations we were were keen to try this one in Fetter Lane. Service not great despite it being an early booking during a quiet lunchtime. We were shocked when server came back to us asking for cash as they'd put wrong amount through on credit card. Not what you want at a business lunch!
Having been to their other locations, 28-50 Fetter Lane doesn't disappoint. The wine list was excellent and we had superior service.
My wife and I came here for a quick pre-theatre bite.
The personnel was very attentive - they noted that we wanted to eat quickly and helped make our choices accordingly. When my nicer half asked for more chutney for a cheese platter, it didn't cause any problems.
The food was very good. I liked the cheese platter and my burger was up to high standards. We ordered young and inexpensive wines by glass but you can have pricier options.
We liked the ambience - wooden tables, quiet conversations, candles on the tables. Shame we had to leave quickly to catch the show (about 12 minutes walk to Royal Opera House).
We will definitely come again for a proper romantic dinner.
