crab bisque, brussel sprouts were very good. We enjoyed the mushroom risotto although less salt would have been better for our taste
Menu was limited. Food was just ok. Wine list was very limited and they were out of two of the wines.
If your looking for somewhere to eat prior to attending a show near the Civic Center this is your place. They offer a wide range of food options. The 8 hour brisket and the fish and chips were delightful.
It is helps that my meter monitoring wife located us a on the street meter at 4pm and was perfect for our 5pm reservation.
Their bar selection will keep you occupied until then
We visited right before going to Hamilton on a Wednesday night. There were not many people in the restaurant but it seems at though there was only one server for the whole place. We were on a time crunch so we did have to get their attention a few times. Overall the food was good but the selection is pretty small and the food is pretty expensive. Very close to the SHN Orpheum theater which is nice.
Stick to the smaller plates like the Shrimp Fritters for a better value, "large plate" portions are small. Needs a hot fish dish other than fish and chips. The tuna dish is raw tuna.
friendly, attentive service and lively ambience. Food was very good.
Dinner fo 4, required in time to go to the theater. They hit it out of the ballpark with efficient & egaging service, good food, & excellent wine selection. Will be back!
We had tickets for the symphony. The service was prompt, and we got out in time. Ahi tuna was perfect. Both the coattail and cab wine were excellent.
Dinner and service was nice. Everything tasted great.
Great place for dinner before a show at the Orpheum, as it’s a quick walk to the theater. Delicious food, creative menu. Fun bar scene on a Thursday night.
Good food, drinks, and service. We ate early, so the place was nearly emply.
A good place for a pre-Hamilton bite. Great location. Service was fairly good and friendly. Price was reasonable.
Loved our server, she was delightful. Food was good, with some unique selections (chicken and waffles, but also some schnitzel). And it was a great place to a grab a bite before a show at The Orpheum Theater. Thanks Soluna !
The location was exactly what we were looking for, but the menu was uninspiring and the food no more than okay.
A great restaurant for anyone going to the symphony or ballet. We were there New year's Eve, and it was a delightful dinner and an easy walk to Davies Symphony Hall.
We loved our food, what a little hidden gem. Best burger i have had in a long time.
We visited Soluna on our way to Nutcracker.
The food was excellent (and I was with some serious food snobs), and the service was delightful. It was almost as if our server was a mind reader. All in all a lovely time. We will be back!!
It has been a while since we ate at this restaurant. We were disappointed in how run down the establishment is. The floors are worn, the restrooms are dirty and falling apart, the booths are wobbly, and overall the ambiance is disappointing. The food was overpriced for what we got, the order was mixed up twice. Overall it was sad to see this prime location is such sad condition. I've seen nicer college town Bistros!!!
Had a show to get to, only ordered drink and apps. Took over 30 minutes to get served. Tried to quickly pay but that took some time. Missed opening of the show!
If you're going to the Theatre, sure... but watch your time... Our server was good and checked in on us... however, the table next to us was a different story. Food served, no water, no ordered drinks. So, good luck...
The food was good, and the location perfect for visiting the Orpheum. Unfortunately, on this, our first visit, the service was horrible. The server struggled, but also seemed to have no team support from the bartender, host, or management. Akso, the risotto would be better as a side dish, not a main.
Super noisy bar, subpar food, lackluster service.
The Schnitzel was amazing as well as the spaetzle. Tuna was perfectly done. If you are going to the Orpheum Theater, this is the place to have dinner.
Took 45 minutes to get water and cocktail order. Over an hour before food, When asked what happened to the wine we ordered, 20 minutes into dinner told us all out of it. He wanted to know if we wanted to order a different wine but were finished with dinner by then. Overall the food was good, the cocktails would have been good if not sitting at the bar for 30 minutes; however, the service was so unacceptable we will never go back.
I booked this place since it was close to the War Memorial and the online menu had a lot of choices for kids. However, the menu at the actual restaurant was very different. The waitress said the menu online was outdated. Had I seen the actual menu I would not have booked here. This place was very loud since half the restaurant is a bar. Overall not family friendly.
Also, our first waiter never returned after we ordered bread (which we never received) . We had to flag someone else down to take our order. We won't be returning.
Our waitress continually ignored us, it was almost an hour before we had any food in front of us. We almost missed our theater start time. The food is fine, but bad service overshadowed it and made the experience a bad one.
Soluna Cafe is terrific! We came back again for dinner before the symphony. Yum! Adrianna was fabulous as our server and took good care of us. Portions are large and sharing is recommended to try more delicious items from the varied menu. Recommend highly.
Quick dinner after a party, I think we just missed the pre-theater dining, although there was an office party going on in the front of the restaurant. Service and food were great. Will probably return.
All in all our meal was excellent. We had 7 people ranging in age from 15 to 80 and everyone found something yummy to eat. The music when we first arrived was a bit difficult to take - something dramatic/symphonic/intense sound track like. It was toned down and was much more agreeable. Price range was very reasonable, especially considering the location. Would certainly go again.
In the past, we have had very slow service. But this time everything was well-timed for our pre-theater dinner. The food (Ahi Tuna, Brisket, Schnitzel) was delicious and Matt, our server, was wonderful. We'd definitely come again....but will remember to allow plenty of time.
First, they were very aware of needing to get their diners out in time for their curtain times, which is always much appreciated. Beyond that, everything we had to eat was good to excellent. I'd absolutely eat here again.
We were there very early, 5:00 PM before a show. The restaurant was pretty empty when we arrived. The staff was pleasant, the menu had enough variety, and the food was good. The location is good for the Orpheum Theater and parking at the SF Civic Center parking lot.
We were hoping to have a nice dinner prior to seeing Hamilton. The time was tight due to traffic and reservations. The staff was fabulous, helping us order efficiently, keeping things moving, and helping us enjoy delicious food with plenty of time to get to the theater for curtain.
Wow! The service was fantastic! The food was even better. Soluna Cafe is now my favorite spot for an outstanding cheeseburger! After talking to our server about what is the most ordered dish, I decided to find out why so many order the burger. Westlake Joe's had always been #1. Today it moved to #2. If you have a chance to visit Soluna you must try the burger!
The food was really good although the risotto needed more salt which I remedied with a few sprinkles. Otherwise from the Shishito peppers to the Pear and Arugula salad to the local bread with salted butter was amazing! The drinks are really creative and yummy as well. They could do with a little updating of the interior decorations but otherwise it's pretty cozy atmosphere.
Service was nice, seating in the back was a bit cold. The one bummer is the food was semi-bland. We ordered 54 entrees, and 3 appetizers, and two of the entrees were just so/so to bland - The black garlic and mushroom Risotto lacked flavor and was overcooked (mushy), The Fish and Chips were okay - but the sauce on it made the soggy vs. crispy. The Chicken and waffle was huge and good and the Prok Ragu was good. Again, nice people, nice place, perhaps just an off night in the kitchen.
We had 6 for dinner before Hamilton, and it was wonderful! The service at the bar was timely, and for dinner, except they had a delay for our dessert but were responsive when I got up to go and pay the check so we could get to the theater in time. My teen nieces loved the mac and cheese, my hamburger was the yummiest I have had in years. the mushroom soup was delicious that we all shared, and the pot de cream outstanding. The lemonade according to my nieces, was the best ever. The tables were spread out, so we could actually all converse easily. I highly recommend this cafe!
we had the best fried chicken I have had in a long, long time. Paired that with a wedge salad and we had a lovely meal. An easy walk to the Davies Symphony hall. We will eat here again.
Slow cooked brisket was great and the pork ragu & burrata was very good! We had a lovely Hahn pinot noir wine that went well with everything.
Delicious food in ample portions and creative preparation. Not the usual menu choices you find in most restaurants. Wait staff were attentive and accommodating.
