My wife and I went to 22 Square on our anniversary trip, and we were very pleased. It was a quiet atmosphere at the time of our visit, 7:00 PM, so we were able to enjoy our meal together as if we were the only two there. Our waitress was very kind and pleasant to us, congratulating us on our anniversary, but she was not overly intrusive either. She was attentive to our needs, and was very quick in meeting those needs. I had the truffled shrimp and grits, which was a delightful take on a southern classic, and a healthy portion as well. My wife had the mac daddy mac, essentially mac and cheese, except with much better cheeses and pasta than your average mac and cheese, and with the addition of an exceptional candied bacon, which complemented the rest of the dish well. For dessert, we had the white chocolate and raspberry bread pudding, which struck a perfect balance of density - light but not so light that it feels weightless and therefore unsatisfying, dense enough to be satisfying but so dense that it would weigh one down. Not so sweet as to give one a sugar headache or an upset stomach, but rather, tied off the end of the meal perfectly.

We came on a Monday evening while visiting Savannah and had the place to ourselves. But this restaurant turned out to be a sleeper hit! I'm not sure why it is not more popular. The farm to table menu was delicious. The roast chicken breast was tender and perfectly cooked. The fried green tomatoes with shrimp and wilted greens: amazingly delicious, fresh take on a southern classic. We also had a roasted asparagus and oyster mushroom dish that was excellent. They really do vegetables well. Service was great and the chef came out to greet us. The restaurant is entered through the hotel lobby, and perhaps that is why it is not better trafficked, but it's worth a visit.

My wife and I had a good dinner. She had the Cinnamon Natural Chicken—excellent with generous serving (I had to/got to help her finish). I had Mac Daddy Mac. I had high hopes, but it just fell a bit short. Service was excellent.

We were the only 2 in the restaurant at 7pm and it stayed that way for about 30 minutes. Hostess and waitress were very nice but the food was disappointing. My hunters stew was very good and the short rib was just ok. My wife's chicken was extremely dry and flavorless. I expected the chicken to be prepared properly based on the cost and upscale ingredients. Again... Disappointing.

It was a busy night in Savannah so 22 Square wasn't our first choice. We arrived a few minutes early and they made us wait until exactly 7:30 - which if they had been very busy I would have understood, but there weren't that many full tables. Food was good and ambiance was lovely. That being said being more welcoming at the beginning would have helped.

I was so excited to visit here but was sorely disappointed. We went for our 6th anniversary. The ambiance is so-so but the wall decor doesn’t make sense. We started with the charcuterie, both of the cheeses were very bland and could’ve been purchased at the local Kroger. The accompanying meats were I guess pepperoni and some type of hard salami, again nothing special and definitely not worth the price. My husband’s shrimp and grits were okay but I’ve certainly had better in the city, the grits to sauce proportion was off which made the grits very dry. I had the swine and fowl and I sent it back. The chicken thighs were so dry I had to drink water to choke them down and they were completely flavorless which made it worse. The pork belly was so over fried that it was dry and crumbling. They removed the charge for my meal and comped my wine but it was really disappointing. Also the servers don’t wear aprons or anything that denotes them as servers, that is just bizarre and unprofessional. All-in-all skip this place and go somewhere better.

Nice Farm-to-Table at the Andaz Hotel. Most of the food was prepared well, except the brussel sprouts which we would not recommend. The shrimp and grits and the fresh baked bread were to die for.

A bit meh... food was decent but not super special or creative. Located off a hotel lobby area bar, the action seemed more buzzing outside compared to the minimalist decor in the seating area. Our host was very nice and helpful, even if our dishes were not very memorable.

Unfortunately I did not have a good meal here. The ambiance is sterile. The color temperature of the lighting is uneven and off-putting. The server was casually dressed without an apron. Friendly, but not particularly professional for the high prices.

Now the food. I don't recall my appetizer since my disappointment with the main was so profound. Another instance where I was a wimp for not returning it. Sometimes I wish I could be more like my mother and send back stuff that deserves to be sent back. I had the Swine and Fowl. The fried pork belly was fine. It was on top so I ate that first. The braised chicken was so overcooked and flavorless it tasted like a joke. Chef, please forgive the fact that I am complaining in this forum and take my delayed criticism to heart. I should have told you privately in the restaurant but it was my first night in town after a long journey and I just wanted to chill. I hope you understand.

We have been on a three week long road trip on the east coast and have eaten in many many restaurants most of which were OK. But 22 Square was one of two meals we considered exceptional. Service is good, food is prepared perfectly, and the prices are equal to or lower than the mainstream restaurants in Charleston.

I had the shrimp and grits. The shrimp was well seasoned well but overcooked but I didn't bother sending back because service was extremely slow which I expected as it was Saint Patrick's Day . My best friend however had the steak and it was superb. The bread they serve was also really tasty.

Arrived to a very busy hotel lobby, where this venue is located. Arrived at the host stand and remained there ignored for about ten minutes. As we sat we observed a very drunk table being obnoxious. We sat again for several minutes the hostess apparently was our waitress as well. Waited about 15 minutes for our drinks. Apps were very good as was dinner. Dessert was dry and tasted old. Waited about 15 total minutes to complete our payment. The obnoxious table should have been ejected as they were throwing food, etc... At this price point I have expectations this place failed to meet in almost every way. We won’t be back, too many other great places to go.

We just had appetizers : fried green tomatoes and Brussel sprouts. Both were unusually prepared and very good. The bread was in the Amish tradition and served with Vermont butter. It’s worth going for the bread alone.

I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. The meal we had was exceptional. The attention to detail by the chef was not worthy. The warm bread with Vermont butter was delicious. We ordered bartender choice cocktail which included spirt of our choice and a citrus theme. Our meal was delivered to our table by waitstaff and the chef. Excellent service and atmosphere. This restaurant is located in a hotel.....if you can find it you won't be disappointed.

Dinner was amazing!! From the fresh baked bread made in house to appetizer and entree’s. Tremendous service, we were running a little behind for a tour(Genteel & Bard ghost tour recommended) later on in the evening and let our server know we were in sort of a hurry. We were pleasantly surprised with how quickly our food came out and everything was so perfectly prepared. Excellent service and wonderful southern dining experience

Don't pass this up! And don't let the fact that this is a dining room of a hotel restaurant scare you off, it was some of the best food we've had on this trip. Huge portions, but so good you will finish it anyway. We waddled home very happy.

This is our third of fourth time at 22 Square, and it never disappoints! The food is always cooked to perfection and the flavors are mouth watering. On this occasion, I ordered the short rib, and one of the cooks came out himself to let me know that he was not satisfied with the quality of the meat, and asked whether I wanted to change my order. I ordered the fish, which was amazing, but they still only charged me for the meat dish, which was cheaper. This speaks to the attention they give to ensuring that every dish is cooked perfectly. The homemade bread is amazing, and the vegetables are always fresh. I will always come to 22 Square when visiting Savannah.

Food was very good but the shrimp & grits a couple people ordered was mostly grits (5 shrimp) and there were just 5-6 gnocchi in that entree a person ordered... for an entree & price they weren’t sufficient. By comparison the pork and filet plates were huge and delicious. Very noisy though and atmosphere too casual (hotel lobby) for the type of food and price... our party of 7 tab was just under $400.

What a fantastic evening! Our waitress Bonnie knew the food and cocktail menu so well. She was so fun and provided such great service. Our food was delicious! The shrimp and grits and Brussels sprouts were out of this world!
