Inside a hotel. The menu is small. The corn and shrimp chowder was homey and delicious. The burgers were good.

This is a great place. In the lobby of the Andaz Hotel. But we sat a table toward the back removed from the ins and outs of the lobby activity. Limited menu and the appetizer we ordered, fried green tomatoes, wasn’t available. Everything we ordered was fresh and flavorful. Service was top notch. Loved the brightness of all the windows to Ellis Square. Will go back.

We entered 22 Square Restaurant & Bar with a bit of hesitation after realizing that it was in the lobby of a hotel. However, my wife and I were quickly put at ease after the host and bar staff greeted us. You could tell that they really cared about providing their guests with a positive experience. We started dinner with the charcuterie board and Woodford Old Fashion drinks. The board was very fresh and tasty, and the bartenders made the drinks to perfection. I chose the Waygu Burger for the main course, and my wife decided on the short rib. The Waygu was very well-cooked. However, the burger did need mayo to pull it all together. My wife enjoyed the short rib. The meat was very tender, but it was the mashed potatoes that really blew her away. They were super creamy and infused with garlic and parmesan perfectly.

All-in-all, the food, staff, and drinks overcame our first impressions to provide us with a wonderful dining experience.

Loud and disorganized. One poor guy trying to serve every table in the place. He did the best anyone could have done in such circumstances, but management leaving the entire restaurant to be served by one guy was a poor decision. Food was good, not extraordinary. The lounge singer seated us from the stage by pointing to a table when we arrived and we should have left then, but would have been impossible to get a table for 6 anywhere else at that point. Great place to stop and have a drink, not a good choice for dinner.

We came for Christmas. There was a pre fixed menu. It was phenomenal. The chef even made something special for my picky 6 year old so we could still enjoy the dinner. The wait staff was I credibly helpful and kind. Couldn't have been better.

First time here. Delicious southern cuisine, but not overly heavy. My son had the friend chicken Sunday special, which was REALLY generous, my husband had the pork chop, and said the grits were the best he's ever had, and I had the fish of the day which was light and delicious. A bit of a snafu with the soufflé, which took a long time, but they both took it, and a glass of wine off the bill without being asked. We would definitely come back, but probably get a different dessert!

I reserved a table for my wife and I and another couple for Valentine's Dinner. I raved on and on about the menu, as we have dined here a few times and enjoyed it. We arrived early, and said we understood if we couldn't be seated until our 8:00 reservation time. We were told that we would need to wait to be seated, so we made ourselves happy with drinks. When we were seated, I noticed that there were multiple empty tables, and there continued to be multiple empty tables while we were eating, so I am not sure why we had to wait to be seated.

When we sat down, the waitress asked if we needed anything. I requested menus. She informed us then that it was a buffet and it was $41 a person. I was not told about this when making the reservation, when confirming the reservation, nor when coming in to the restaurant to be seated. I saw nothing that alerted me when I went to the website to show my friends the menu prior to going to dinner. If I had known it was a buffet, there was absolutely no way I would have gone. I hate buffets. Not only that, but most of the entrees at 22 Square are between $20 and $30. This buffet was an outrageous $41. If it had been a regular Friday night, we would have gone elsewhere, but at 8 pm in Savannah on Valentines, we might not have eaten dinner at all!

The prime rib and pork were tasty, but there were hardly any sides to choose from (some small baked potatoes and some creamed spinach). The salmon was a little dry. The salads were pretty average. The desserts were really good.

Overall, I was terribly disappointed. We bought the drinks for our friends at the bar (1 drink each, 4 drinks total), which was $64 (with tip). Each couple paid for our own meals, so that was $104 after we tipped. So $168 later, after having eaten a meal we didn't choose and didn't actually want, I am reluctant to return again. I probably will go back eventually because this was my first letdown, but it was a major fumble by 22 Square.

We happened to be staying at the hotel on Valentine's Day and had a reservation for three people. I was not told they were only serving a buffet when I made the reservation or when I confirmed it. Our server, who was very friendly, started by saying "It's a buffet, is that ok?" We asked if we could order from the bar menu (it had more choices than the buffet) but we were told not unless we moved to the bar. 'Buffet" suggests many choices, but for $40 per person it was very limited and the food did not even stay warm in the casserole type dishes that were on the counter. The "baked potato bar" (a misnomer) had baked potatoes so tepid, the butter would not melt. The food wasn't horrible, just meh, and definitely not worth $40 per person. I had made a reservation at the hotel restaurant well in advance because the menu looked good and I would have chosen another restaurant had I been told we would not be able to order from it, but of course by the time we were seated it was too late to find another restaurant on a holiday. Disappointing.

It had good reviews and the menu looked great. Went there for Valentines Day and was informed that it was a buffet. Ok. We were seated by the hosted who turned out to also be our waitress. There were only 4-5 other couples there. All the buffet food was tepid though it was early in the dinner hour. Nothing was hot. Then the bill came. $50 per plate! Yikes! Something has changed since those good reviews.

Easily one of the best restaurants in Savannah! My wife and I visited during restaurant week . Compared with their competitors, their menu was strong with many offerings to choose from. For our appetizer my wife selected the house bread while I chose the gumbo. Both were excellent. My wife selected the double roasted pork chop and I the braised short rib. Portions were very generous and Chef crushed the preparation. For dessert my wife selected the triple chocolate torte and I the pecan pie, both wonderful. We both enjoyed old fashions made by the craft bartender, perfect. Overall an incredible dining experience. If they allowed me to give six stars this is the restaurant that I would give them to.

Went for restaurant week. After being seated the waitress was soon over and was very friendly all night. The restaurant was not very busy and everything took a very long time to come out. There were 4 of us for dinner the shrimp and grits were very yummy but unfortunately the chicken dish and the pork chop were very dry and chewy .

Restaurant week at 22 Square was great. We felt the menu selections were the most expansive of all the restaurants that participated. The gumbo was delicious. Two of our group had the pork chop with apples and brussel sprouts. It was tender, well seasoned and excellent. The short ribs were amazing, just falling off the bone. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and wine selections.

The service was great. The food was horrible. NYE was fixed with a few additions. Oysters Rockefeller were gritty and oysters tasted bad. The staff immediately responded and offered a salad which was good. The prime rib was delicious, but, the"creamed spinach was disgusting and inedible. The Cream brûlée was good.

Near 30 minutes before our drinks showed up and service continued to worsen throughout with no improvement after repeated requests. It wasn’t busy - maybe 5 or 6 tables and a handful of people at the bar, but they used their extreme busyness as an excuse the entire time. My wife had to bus our table, we had to get our own silverware, our bottle of wine took 15 minutes to show up (we went with wine after 30-minute bar drink delay thinking it would be faster and more efficient... we were wrong), kids food came out last, and kids drinks (sprite with grenadine) took longer than our bar drinks to come. It was very disappointing. The executive chef came out at the end to apologize. He was nice and, but the experience was already ruined. For a positive, the food was decent - but service really just ruined the meal.

My wife and I spent 6 nights in Savannah and I ordered shrimp and grits every night for diner. So long as you like shrimp and grits its a really cool thing to do because everyone makes it different. The problem is, . . most restaurants over cook the shrimp even if you beg them not to. 22 Square not only cooked them perfectly, but the flavor was fantastic! Probable the best Shrimp and grits I have ever had.

The food was terrific. We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Chowder. Both were excellent. The Chowder was like a low country boil but in soup form. The broth had a touch of spice. For the main course we had the Short Ribs and the Crab Cake. Both were good-sized portions and delicious. We never got to desert because we had our fill by this point. Service was good. The chef himself brought out a couple dishes. This should probably be a $$$ restaurant instead of $$. All in all it was a good experience.

This restaurant is a hidden gem and the chef and staff were excellent. In a nicely edited menu we chose a tasty crab cake, truffle shrimp and grits and a tomato and buratta appetizer that we loved. A meaningful fine dining experience with a view of a bustling square, a perfect Savannah evening.

22 Square is a great restaurant. The food was really outstanding. We were a little worried when we got there because we were the only ones in the restaurant. I am telling you, the good people of Savannah and its many visitors are missing out. Folks should really give this place a try. Most of the people in our party had the blackened snapper which was the fresh catch of the day. It was really outstanding. I also recommend the Ahi Poke appetizer. Do yourself a favor and try 22 Square!!!
