This is the second time we have been disappointed at 22 North. Service was very slow and there were only three or four talked occupied. Food was okay but not as good as a few years ago. The coupon from the Attractions book made it affordable, but I don’t expect to go there again.
Made reservations (as recommended in brochure); however, when we arrived we were told to just grab any table we wanted. Service went downhill from there (absent / forgetful waiter). Food was good (6 on a scale of 10). Will NOT return.
Great food, good location and friendly staff!
Food and service was very good. The place needs a complete over haul. The food was priced way over what should be expected of a place like 22.
Very disappointed as the web site was misleading. Also NO she crab soup and no fish stuffed with crab meat as ALL restaurants on the beach have this on their menu. Had we known this, we would have gone to King Neptune across the street. Have had stuffed flounder for over 5o years .
Expected fancier decor and ambiance from website. Was somewhat disappointed on first sight, but the realized that we’re at the beach and decided to stay. The greeter and server were super nice. The food was definitely top notch and an excellent value. Would be returning many times if living in the area.
Food was great, ambiance not so great. Half the restaurant layout was romantic and dimly lit, the other half looked like a cheap bar scene. The same goes for the menu. It seems like they're not really sure what vibe they wanted to go for so they just picked both.
Overall food was really good...scallops in curry sauce and shrimp and grits. The service was really slow, they were out of a couple of appetizers and it was a Saturday night. Decor is ok, but the chairs are not comfortable
Food was amazing. Manager sensed our children were getting a little restless and even brought out chalk and chalkboards to entertain them so the parents could finish our drinks and dessert!
What a great restaurant and our server, Ian, made it so special with just the right amount of chat without being intrusive. The alligator appetizer was so tender and the sauce was delicious. I had the shrimp and grits -- everyone has their own recipe for this southern staple and while this was not my favorite version, it would make a fan out of any newcomer to the meal. My husband had a super fresh, delicately seasoned swordfish, Mom had the red drum that she is still craving one week later, and my vegetarian daughter had the beach menu mac n' cheese (okay) and grilled vegetables that she said were fantastic. For drinks we had one Cosmo (!!) and a bottle of chardonnay -- chilled to perfection. The only reason I don't come here more often is the menu is very limited (based on fresh catch of the day) and my husband doesn't like surprises in menu choices. Otherwise, this would be my go-to restaurant. Parking is a hassle but I got lucky and eventually got the spot right in front!
Service was incredible, food was great.
Basic food and ambiance. One of very few restaurants directly on Wrightsville Beach. It is worth driving over the bridge for better restaurants.
Been a while since we have been here. Some changes and updates but a solid experience. Food, service, and vibe was good
Unbelievable food!!! We ate here last year on our trip to Wrightsville and had to go again this trip. Not disappointed. Everything they have is delicious!!!! Will definitely be a place we go every time we visit.
It was our first time dining at 22 North and it did not disappoint. There was a nice selection of specialty cocktails on the drink menu, and the ones we selected were very good. There were 3 people in our group and we each ordered a different entree. I had the salmon over rice and grilled vegetables and everything was cooked to perfection. The portions were generous and everything was seasoned nicely. The other people in my group enjoyed their entrees as well. We all also had the homemade desserts...key lime pie and peanut butter pie...delicious!! Excellent, attentive service as well. The restaurant was a little lacking in ambiance, but was clean and enjoyable. The friendly staff and excellent food more than compensated for the simple decor. Overall, it was a delicious meal.
Great beach side upper end restaurant. Great date night. We left our car there and walked to the beach and hung out for s while on the beach. Great specialty drinks. Good times. Loved it.
I had the duck breast which was amazing. Love the food and service was fast.
Our food was very good. Drinks were creative and excellent. Accommodations for 9 folks at a good dinner hour was super. The price was at the top range for us.
Very disappointing. The menu referred to online was nothing like the very limited print in paper menu provided at the restaurant. The empty restaurant should have been an indication of what was to come. The red wine was served warm as if it had been on a shelf located over a hot oven. The ribs were burned on one side, hardly cooked on the other and very fatty. The vegetables as a side were three over cooked pea pods. The chicken wings were rubbery and undercooked. The burger was palatable, at best. I had the fresh catch which I was told was up to 48 hours fresh served with grilled vegetables which was comprised of four pea pods. The Mahi was mediocre, at best. The temperature in the restroom was about 100 degrees. The only saving grace was our waiter who tried very hard. I would not recommend.
Very good fresh seafood dishes at reasonable prices.
The food was excellent and a great value. Kevin was an exceptional waiter! I'm sure we will be returning regularly.
We had reservations and arrived early. The waiter advises us when he greets us that we may not have his attention later in the evening. So we better get his attention now. He called me "buddy" several times as opposed to "sir". WE asked for dinner rolls and salad and he stated the chef was particular and there was no rolls or salad with the meal.
Bottom line when you spend $35/ head you expect respect and pleasantness. Not. We have eaten our final meal there!
Super laid-back beach spot with incredibly good food and great service. Will definitely be back!
Have eaten here numerous times over a half dozen years, and was not impressed this time. Ribs were over-cooked and dry (tough as nails), entries all served with the same basic side of Jasmine rice, no more Shrimp and Grits (which had been a standout dish), service was too casual and half-hearted. Nothing inventive, nothing special. Hope that changes.
The food was outstanding, albeit a tad expensive. It's a bar, not a fine dining experience.
We enjoyed our delicious food. Our server was attentive and sweet. Kind of a bland atmosphere. I would think restaurants that close to the ocean would try to have a view.
Always wonder why a place right in best location in Wrightsville has lots of empty tables at peak hours during holidays.
The guys really tried hard and were really friendly but food really not good.
Might want to rethink menu.
Reinvent yourself as a gourmet burger bar?
My wife has the shrimp and grits. Outstanding. Great service and great food. Not much on atmosphere but who cares about its great food.
Perhaps it's because it's the start of the summer season, but we stood in the doorway while the staff ignored us, including the manager. If you're going to accept reservations, there should be someone at the front to greet customers. Went back to the bar and bartender informed us to sit anywhere, which the waiter told us is incorrect.
The next thing is they had run out of bottled water...living in an area where tap water is poisoned with GenX and Fluoride, unless the restaurant has a reverse osmosis system installed, we don't drink anything with tap water.
Overall though, the waiter was very nice but not a pro. Food was ok. Glad we tried it.
The experience was horrible. I need a debriefing. We had reservations thru open table. The restaurant was divided in to two sections. The restaurant is in front and the bar in back. Despite having reservations and despite there being unoccupied tables in the dining area, we were placed in the bar—a very “divey” bar. As soon as we were seated a server gave us some stained up menus and when I asked about the advertised “she crab soup” on open table he scowled and said “I don’t know what the menu on the internet says”. One side of the menu hosts bar food and the next page hosts the entrees. The entrees are priced in the mid 20.00 range. The gentleman behind the bar began bursting beer bottles, and then came explosive laughter from the folks sitting around him. I could not bring myself to order from these menus and eat in this atmosphere, and the servers were unwilling to move us to the dining room, so we kindly told the server, we were leaving and that we were in the wrong place. We went down the street to a very nice restaurant that was happy to have us and not near as condescending.
Stayed on the island over the weekend and didn't want to venture far for good food. What we got was great food. Fresh tuna and wahoo, plus great scallop appetizer. Great server too. Downside was ambience. This place used to be Foster's, but it seems like it is STILL Foster's. The dual purpose thing (nightclub at night) is not working. The tile floor was super sticky and gross when we got there. It smelled like a bar and cleaning supplies. There is nothing to look at inside this place. If you don't care about ambience, then you'll love it.
Visited on a Sunday evening, no crowd. The server was very personable and helpful with the menu, attentive throughout the meal. We had two of the fresh fish on the menu and both were excellent. We couldn't have asked for a better presentation. I highly recommend the tilefish if it is available, it was amazing that evening.
Outstanding. Shrimp and grits was outstanding
An unassuming storefront with a simple interior. My guess is people come here for the food.
We were there on a Friday before the season starts. The bar was hopping with some kind of group, but the restaurant was quiet.
Everything we tasted was made with attention to detail. Excellent pairings of seafood with jasmine rice and grilled veggies. Desserts were homemade and it showed. Peanut butter pie was outstanding. Will definitely be back when in the area.
We were drawn there for the alligator to try something new but was not on the daily menu. Pickled okra was a first and a hit- 7 year old loved them. Kids split chicken sandwich plate. They liked them. Hubbie and I split burger. Basic good ole burger.
A bit rustic and a long wait for meal, but oh, what a wonderful experience the food was! Delicious entrees. Shrimp & Grits, salmon, popcorn shrimp all the very freshest and tastiest food! Food worth the waiting.
The food was good but the restaurant needs some updating. The floors and furniture are looking old and very outdated.
Excellent meal! Fresh fish with excellent preparation . The alligator app was awesome!
The food was delicious and the service was fantastic. It was a little pricey, but overall very good!
The food was average. The menu is extremely limited. Pricey for the options available. Everything was Ala carte! The place didn't feel clean and felt dated. I guess it was ok for the beach scene but I didn't find any redeeming qualities about the food, service or ambiance. Not worth the money unless you want to eat alligator bites (just the thought grossed me out)! They 'claim' to have been voted in the top 21 restaurants in NC. DOUBTFUL! Seems like a scam claim.
Great service. Great food. Underrated restaurant at the beach.
