20nine Restaurant & Wine Bar
Totally unorganized place, they ran out of food
Waited two hours for table despite reservations. Service was horrible, rude, and inattentive. Dont know about the food we left before we.
We arrived on time for our reservation and had a small wait at the bar for our table. The wait staff seemed harried- no one was smiling and once seated there was a fixed menu so very fast ordering process but it took over 1 hour to get our first course salad. Watching the restaurant activity it became apparent they were woefully understaffed even with a fixed menu. Our water and tea was never refilled until I got it myself. Other tables were experiencing the same if not worse service to the point people walked out. Overheard that the owner was even there working but no apologies or communication from him. The food however was very good . We read many reviews prior to making reservations about how good this place was - but apparently it was an extremely bad night for them. Not sure if we will try them again. Thankfully we were not in a hurry.
Perhaps it was an off night with New Year’s Eve, but this was one of the top three worse dining experiences I have ever had. About five minutes after we were seated the waiter came and poured some water then disappeared for about ten minutes. He came back and took our order which included a flight of wine for me and my wife. Thirty minutes later our wine finally showed up (remember, this is a wine bar). Since it was New Year’s Eve the menu was prix fixe. After 45 minutes the salad appeared. I wanted to send it back since there was barely any dressing on the salad, but it had already been 45 minutes. Once the main course was placed in front of me, it was not warm, borderline cold. Again, would have sent it back, but we had already been here over an hour at this point. We both ordered creme brûlée for dessert, but to add insult to injury they ran out. The waiter essentially plopped down in front of us what he said was chocolate cake. After one bite I realized that it must be shoe leather and not cake. Within a couple minutes the waiter gave me the check. Not pleased with dinner, I asked to speak to the manager. The waiter said he was the manager. I told him the “cake” was disgusting, not what I wanted, and I wasn’t going to pay for it. He gave me a “generous” $8 credit on a $150 meal. For a $150 meal I expect excellent service. I did not get it here. It was marginal at best. I typically tip 20-25%, I could barely stomach a $10 tip. My waiter never refilled the water, the waiter was short and not personable at all, and he was quite defensive when I wanted to speak to a manager. It will take a lot of convincing for me to go back here.
For NYE, I don’t think they were prepared. No hostess and bus boy service delayed our overall service. The server was overwhelmed. I’m glad we were there early.
The Christmas menu was Great!!!! Food outstanding!!!!! Service excellent!!! Just wished they served cocktails. But A+++++
We love this place. Great food, service and ambience.
Our Christmas Day lunch at 20nine was outstanding. The service was unparalleled. We will definitely return. My new favorite place.
The food was delicious and we loved the various wine flights.
Love the ambience. The server was polite, but was not going to take our dinner until we literally asked if we could order.
We ordered the NY Strip steak that was more like a flank steak. It was cooked to order, but not worth $48 by any stretch of the imagination. The mashed potatoes were very good and the creame broule was outstanding.
Would recommend for those just wanting wine and dessert.
The service was great, the food was Awesome I did find out though that the menu changes, I was expecting to have a ribeye but it was not on the menu, our server explained that they change the menu up seasonally, So I ended up having a New York strip and it was fabulous ,I recommend this place.
Great birthday place
The food was great, and our server, Thor was really awesome! The ambiance was seriously lacking however. (It was a cold evening in November so I'm sure that may have kept people in) We were seated right in front of the bar, which wasn't the loudest bar around but it did produce enough noise to be a bit distracting. (So if you want quiet, just don't sit by the bar) Our 4 top was between 2 2 tops, which was okay, but not the best seating because we needed a table, not a booth. I can't remember if there was any music playing. The lighting was okay but the overall vibe was kind of boring. I was expecting more from the menu, something a little more fancy. The only people who made eye contact with us or spoke to us was our waiter Thor. The energy just wasn't there and we were celebrating our son's 28th birthday. He chose the restaurant because of the great food but we were kind of disappointed at the end of the meal, that the place just wasn't exciting. I'd made reservations online and spoke with a young lady, forget her name, but when we were leaving I was asking everyone who she was so I could tell her I made it! (we are from out of town) I found her at the front desk and told her I was the one she spoke with on the phone and she said "oh that's great", very nice young lady. Everyone was friendly but the ambiance was just dead and the restaurant wasn't very full either if I remember correctly. In the future we may return because of the menu but certainly not for the ambiance. Maybe it's better in warmer weather. For $200 I certainly expected to have a more exciting dining experience.
We ate here months ago and half the items on the menu weren’t available and the pizza oven was broken. We tried again a few days ago and most of the wines were not available. Didn’t even have coke for my kids, and my sons hamburger came out raw. I don’t mean medium rare, I mean gooey...my hamburger had the wrong cheese on it. Once everything was fixed, the food is quite good. Seems to be very difficult to get to that point every time we go, though. And at $180 for a family for 4 and an entry level bottle of wine, it’s not exactly cheap.
My wife and I both love 20nine Wine Bar! We have been there dozens of times and it is a new and wonderful experience each time. The food is exquisite and the wine selection is impressive. I definitely recommend it to all my friends and family.
Ehhh we decided to try as a group and bought groupons. We were only able to use 1 Groupon per table which was fine but our order was inaccurate multiple times and the food was mediocre.
Good food, nice selection of wines (including thoughtfully designed flights) nice atmosphere and stellar service from knowledgeable staff. Very good experience overall.
We came in for dinner on a Saturday night. The place was almost empty.
The service was fantastic. The wines are WAY overpriced. Example 14 Hands Cabernet $10/glass or $40/bottle. For half the bottle price, you could take it home at retail. Go to a local grocery and pick it up for $8-$13 depending on where you get it. The foods do not necessarily compliment the wines and the idea of a cheese or charcuterie plate is not available. Food/wine pairings would be welcome and may make the experience they are selling more pleasurable.
All in all would not recommend this to anyone.
Thor is a great server!!
One of our favorite places. The menu and staff are amazing.
We visit every time we are in town for a date night and it’s always great. We can’t wait to come back!!!!
music was too loud. I had to ask for a table further from the noise so I could hear what my friend was saying.
Excellent and love the new brunch menu on Sundays.
Wonderful service. Our waiter Thor was awesome. Signature chicken and pork dishes were delicious. Will definitely be back.
Excellent selection of food and wine. Always enjoy discovering a new wine here with food to match.
We had a great time. Food was great, service was professional and accommodating. Executive chef Jerry is always pleasure to see. Creme brûlée was fantastic!
I learned how to saber a bottle of champagne!! It was incredible!!
Love going here! Wine is great and so is the food!
MJ (our server) was great. He kept a respectful distance to bother us very little but managed to keep our needs met and his knowledge of the menu and wines helped greatly with it being our first visit. All the staff looked great and smiled, seeming more than happy to be there to serve.
MJ was a great server. Food was good with creative specials. Wine selection was adequate and wine service was very good.
However, the loud (and at times vulgar) hip hop music was not only a bit inappropriate and obnoxious, but really out of place for a chef-touting food & wine restaurant.
Also, just a recommendation, the potential to make more out of 20nine as a wine destination is huge: talk about the wines, volunteer to share above the wineries, regions, varietals, pairings, etc. chef did a great job and waiter is good, but is this a dive bar wanting to serve good food, or a fine-but-casual restaurant wishing it were a club scene or pickup bar? When the bar and the restaurant are so close and not separated, you can’t afford the identity crisis. Play to your strengths of inspired food and wine and draw the right crowd more often.
Just a tip as a consultant. No charge ;) (We will come back to see how you’re fairing with delimitating a great space and food and wine list from every other chain-restaurant-bar in town.
Fantastic. Great service by Keith and the kitchen always knocks out of the park
Missing canopy under trees makes uncertain place due birds droppings!
Get the Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer. They are amazing!
The food was lovely. The Ambiance too. Food was served in a timely manner but I didn't care too much for the server at all. Great wine list. Would go there again but it's not top of the list.
This is another of our "go to" neighborhood restaurants. Small dark and quiet - a great place to relax. Great menu for a light supper or larger meal. The pork tenderloin is a favorite but everything is good.
We loved the ambiance and the wine tasting road trips! The food was delish!! 👌🏻
Fathers day celebration. Food was on
My burger wasn’t cooked properly, my wine flight was overpriced and just didn’t taste good. I didn’t even finish it and just left it. This is my second time at this restaurant and it is mediocre at best. The food items are hit or miss and so is the wine. The service was good this time, but the restaurant wasn’t busy on a Friday night, which speaks volumes. The first time I went with a group of 8 women the restaurant was loud, the music was playing above our table, the temperature was too cold, and the service wasn’t good at all. My wine flight was bad then as well. I used a Groupon for both times. I don’t think I’ll be returning.
Went with a group of nine for happy hour. There are not many small bites offered during happy hour but what they had was very good especially the chicken sliders and calamari. Reduced California wine prices as well as some nice imported wines at regular prices as well. Everyone was pleased with our event and we will return.
Great food and the atmosphere was great for Mothers Day
