The food was delicious, and the service was exceptional! Great place for a dinner out!
The 3 course meal was small for the cost and only 3 choices. The wait staff could have been a little more friendly.
Restaurant was fine, chicken a little dry. The problem was with your program because it automatically entered another name, my friend Chris, who lives in Washington. I could not get rid of it.
Love the place! Food is best it’s ever been. Pricey however. The ambiance is the best except that they sat a family down in front of me and my boyfriend. They had 2 crying kids. That was not too cool to have a romantic dinner. Glad they offered the Rombaeur Chardonnay. Would be great I’d they offered tapas at lower prices. They would get more customers. All in all- again- best place!!
Food was barely seasoned. Second time here and not impressed. Will not be back.
Wonderful place for any special occasion and a wonderful history
We enjoyed dining at David Wally’s twice recently , both times the food and service was excellent . Enjoyed the hot springs afterwards . Would recommend for any occasion .
Very nice evening with my wife for dinner. The waiter was very attentive and the meal was very good. She had the salmon and I had the blue cheese sirloin done to a perfect medium rare. Thank you Wally’s.
Based on this single experience, I have already recommended this restaurant to friends. This executive chef REALLY knows his craft! Excellent!
First night open with new owners. Service was slow but waiter was accommodating to special requests. Food was pricey but the Prix Fix Menu was a good deal. Desserts were great!
The Buffalo short ribs were great. The fried calamari was excellent, and my wife loved her Penne pasta and shrimp. The wine list was had nice variety of quality wines. The Pinot Noir we had was excellent and affordable.
Enjoyed our meal, the Salmon and the CAB steak were both delicious. Service was good.
It's our new favorite place and will be back soon. Loved the food and ambiance.
Not very excited about the crab cakes. Kinda mushy and raw
Had the filet mingon....ok veggies consisted of four small slivers of squash Had rice instead of potato. Should’ve had a salad instead of either🙄like to see a better presentation and for Fall especially have something like asparagus or candied carrots
Maybe sweet potatoes???? The bread was dry and boring too...
We tried this place the other night and loved it. Very historic building, great ambience, food was tasty but hubby said his chicken was dry. Nice views, small cozy bar, quiet enough to have good conversation, nice walking trail behind the facility. We will definitely be back.
My husband and I went to David Walley’s for our anniversary. It was the first time there for either of us and we were both really pleasantly surprised. We were seated in a very comfortable booth and the view was amazing! We had very good service by not only our waiter, but several others. It was really nice the way they work with each other and help each other out. The menu was a little pricey, but when our food came and we tasted it, it was well worth it. Especially for a special occasion. We both had beef. My husband had the Price fixed menu (or the prix fee? Sp ?) It included a soup or salad, the entree he was ordering anyway, and also included dessert. He started to order it off the menu and the waiter was very nice and told him it was a better deal to go with the price fix menu. He had the blue cheese encrusted baseball cut sirloin steak, and I had the filet mignon with a brandy peppercorn sauce. I changed my garlic mashed potatoes to the twice stuffed baked potato with smoked cheddar and bacon. Oh my gosh everything was delicious! When it came time for dessert a couple of the choices were lemon tart or creme brûlée. I knew that my husband didn’t hear anything after lemon tart. I would have ordered the creme brûlée but I was too full. The tart came and we shared it. It was honestly the best of both worlds. It tasted like lemon creme brûlée in a graham cracker crust. Complete with a crunchy top and then it was topped with a wonderful berry sauce. Overall the entire experience was wonderful and we will definitely be going back. And by the way, we have eaten in the saloon a number of times and that too is wonderful. The menu is slightly different but very tasty. We highly recommend the house made calamari. It’s seriously some of the best I’ve ever had.
Try it out, you won’t be disappointed.
Food was well prepared and the service was top notch.
It seemed there wasn't a bad place to sit to enjoy the beautiful views of the valley. We had wonderful, very attentive service. Definitely will make another trip out again for dinner and spa day.
We loved our servers and their attentive service. The food was outstanding and the views and atmosphere were better than we expected. We are already planning future visits! Thank you Luke!
Had to return a drink and an entree because both were a disaster. Prime rib was chewy. Most amazingly - mashed potatoes were made from powder mix. Amazing for a restaurant that tries to cater to higher end customers.
Server was very agreeable, yet very stiff. He did his best.
Will not be back. Sorry.
We always love it here and this was no exception. We had the fixed menu which is 3 courses and always a lot of fun. The food tasted great.
One of our party had a dairy allergy and it was apparent that this annoyed the server. She kept leaving to “check with the chef” and she was quite obviously annoyed. And they still served her a salad with cheese on it! Our reservation was at 7:30 and at 9:20 we still did not have our dessert, so you can understand our service. They were literally turning off the lights in another part of the restaurant while we were still waiting for our dessert. The sauce on the crab cakes was so spicy that even people who liked spice couldn’t eat it. “Greek Salad” had regular black olives instead of kalamata and very little feta cheese. Embarrassed to have brought out of town guests here....
OK FOOD WAS GOOD PUT THE SERVICE REALLY COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH BETTET
Shannon was wonderful!! Polite and kept an eye on our table. Refilled drinks timely without asking. Food was timely and delicious! View is wonderful, great place to dine. Will be coming back again!
Great! We love it here! The last 2 nights the service has been extremely slow though. But, it is definitely worth the wait
Salads were awesome!.. We did the Groupon Prix Dinner. Make reservations or you will be left out in the cold ! Or just left out ! Dinner is not served at 1862 on Tuesdays and Wed. I had the Tiramisu for dessert and my husband had the Lemon Tart good, but unload the strawberries ! Almonds instead. Nonpareil. We own a cattle ranch and would have liked our beef not hung so long. Dressing on the filet, not a fan. It tasted like blue cheese. Would have liked something smokey instead. Use open table to get your seat and don't be late. Views are WOW ! Geese land a dusk.
Server brought out wrong entree and quickly acknowledged and corrected. Save the drive from South Lake Tahoe as local options are as good or better for the price. Meals were good but nothing outstanding. Wine selections are also limited.
Nicely appointed restaurant with room between the tables and booths. Good view across the grasslands and valley. The food was very good, the choices were not vast but good for a somewhat isolated location. The presentation and the taste of the food were both very good. The wine list was somewhat lacking. But again, this is a basic health resort which is isolated from population centers, so the wine is probably not of a top priority. Overall, the experience was very good. I enjoy the rustic yet somewhat modernized atmosphere, and the quality of the food was high. We stayed at the resort and would highly recommend it if you stay there. If you are driving from over an hour away in the area, then I would think that there are other choices in Lake Tahoe or Reno which might be preferable.
It was a little loud at happy hour time Groupon saved us $20
I would like to see the price come down about $5/ entre. The food was fabulous but pasta with shrimp should not cost $30.
Outstanding service and food. We were there for our anniversary and would celebrate with you daily if we could. Earl
The atmosphere @ 1862 was a throw back in time but the service was excellent on both nights we were there. We had the cocktails while the men had their beer & everyone was happy with their drinks. The calamari & crab cakes were surprisingly good in this oasis in a desert. The ribeye was a bit salty. The outdoor sitting with the fireplace would have been perfect had it it been not extremely windy. We were asked to come in 30 minutes ahead of our reservation since the place was supposed to close @ 9pm. Yet, on our way out, there were a lot more couples & families with children still enjoying their meal & the ambience & the wait staff were as solicitous as before.
Wally’s is not the cheapest in the area, but it ranks in my top 3 for fine dinner. Getting the hostess to seat you, or even acknowledge you, has always been difficult. The joys of dealing with high school girls. But the wait staff go way above and beyond to make your visit great. Especially Luke, the Waiter.
We like going to the restaurant because of the atmosphere. It is quiet and very elegant. The service is always the best.
We’ve come here quite a few times now. The groupon deal with dinner and hot springs admission is a great value. Really good food. Lemon Tart dessert was delicious.
1862 is our favorite restaurant in the valley. The food is always great and you can’t beat the setting.
Ask for a window table in Luke's station and you cannot go wrong.
During winter, do not get a window table because it can get very cold.
Our server, Luke, did his usual fantastic job. He is easily the best server in Northern Nevada. Lamb was excellent. Generous serving. A great meal with great service.
It was a bit of a disappointment. Had a reservation but it appeared that they had to ready a table when we arrived. May have been to give us a window seat which was a beautiful vista. Service was sporadic but pleasant. My father's ribeye was very fatty and he found it difficult to eat. My prime rib was very tender but appeared to have a gravy on it. Not really an Au Jus. Overall pleasant atmosphere but little disappointed in the meal and service.
After being sat it took nearly 20 minutes to be acknowledged by the server and handed a drink menu, then another 15 minutes to place a drink order. For a Saturday evening you might expect a packed house and some delays but they were literally only two other tables near us. We had the pork belly appetizer which was great but my $35 Ribeye was mostly fat and gristle. I understand that Ribeyes should have high fat and great marbeling but this was bad. The Saloon that's attached the restaurant had much better service and food options.
