I made our reservation well in advance. I requested a table next to a window with a beautiful view of the water. Unfortunately the restaurant did not fulfill my request. We had a lengthy wait to be seated and the gentleman seating guests wasn’t very friendly. I expect to be treated with some respect when I spend a lot on my dining experience.
The food and atmosphere were spectacular and the waiter Phil was one of the best servers I have met in a very long time
When I made my reservation online, I noted that it was for our anniversary. It was disappointing that it was never acknowledged during our visit. Also, there was some confusion, and the person waiting on our table didn't know we were their table so we sat for at least 15 minutes before they came to greet us, bring water, take our drink order, etc. Beyond that, the service and meal were excellent.
Fabulous food, service and view.
Our first time. Server Kevin was great and helpful. Food was great and the ambience can’t be beat.
Very nice setting for a romantic dinner. We were lucky enough to be sat in the picture windows overlooking the lake. Chef was very accommodating and made our meal memorable. Tomahawk prepared perfectly.
Erica was our server and she was absolutely incredible. The pianist was extremely talented and the the food was to die for. Amazing, and will definitely be returning.
Wonderful experience and the food was delicious. We would go again!
The food was excellent. The server was sweet and professional. Loved the soft piano playing as well.
Wonderful food and service. Live piano music.
Fred was amazing and had excellent recommendations. The food was outstanding. Only one thing that I would recommend, serve the tomahawk ribeye on a hot platter so it doesn’t get cold so fast. We I’ll definitely be back!
Our first anniversary & I couldn’t have picked a better place to celebrate. They put us on the Cozy corner Booth looking out on Lake Huron, beautiful view, soothing piano music in the background with a real life plan, the food was excellent the service was impeccable. Erica was our friendly servers name. We had the salmon and the duck. Both were excellent. My wife had a cup of clam chowder for a starter & I had a half Caesar. Both were great.
Outstanding meal, service and ambience. Thanks for a fantastic meal!
The ambiance was perfect for an anniversary dinner. Our waitress was great and was well versed in the menu
The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly and on point. And the piano player was an absolute joy!!
Service and food was amazing!!
Too pricey for portion size. Cocktails not very strong
Our dinner food and service were wonderful! The only downsides were that we ate here late in the season before the island shuts down ferry service so our bottled wine selection was limited and I was surprised that bread was not offered with dinner but could be purchased as an add-on. The peanut butter pie dessert was heavenly though!
It was a wonderful evening and we will definitely be back. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive and sommelier was extremely knowledgeable and helped us make a terrific selection to pair with our meal. The food was outstanding and perfectly prepared and arranged. Having a live pianist and beautiful view of the harbor also contributed to an outstanding, romantic evening.
I took my wife here for her 49th birthday.
From the moment we arrived to the time we left, we were treated very well. Warm and welcoming and very professional staff.
Service and food was exceptional. Absolutely worth the trip. Nicely lit, live piano playing in the background. Excellent view of the marina and lake through massive glass windows.
We will absolutely be going back.
The fried goat cheese appetizer special with the blueberry reduction was wonderful . The pecan crusted trout was a large butterfly fillet that was crispy, but light. A fabulous meal and you won’t leave hungry!
Our waitress Rachel was amazing.
Beautiful restaurant. Great food. Great service. Piano music lovely.
Excellent choice in Macinac. Ask for a window table. The Walleye was awesome. Just a lovely spot for dinner and the food was great!
Spectacular restaurant! The food, the service, the view! A very memorable dinner we will never forget. September 27' 2021
We were treating ourselves to special meal on Mackinac Island. Food was amazing, good service too. Highly recommend.
Great service and food. We celebrated our 30 year anniversary. We had whitefish and salmon. Delicious!
Looking for terrific food, spectacular views, excellent service, with the ambiance to match? Check out The 1852 Grill Room at the Island House on Mackinac Island. We have eaten at almost every upscale restaurant on the island and The 1852 Grill Room is in our top 3.
Beautiful view of the lake, Great service, Outstanding food. It's all good. Strongly recommend.
The menu and food are excellent as was the service. The restaurant had some very loud groups and, to be fair, we dined here during the Mackinac Policy Conference so it was packed. It is definitely pricey but what isn't on Mackinac Island. You are a captive audience afterall. But this is a very nice restaurant with an awesome menu.
1852 was our absolute favorite restaurant we ate at on the island and actually our favorite of our 10 day Michigan trip. I would highly recommend eating here. Try to get an early reservation or later (7:30) so that you are seated near the windows which have a beautiful view. Our favorite items were the Fudge Martini (tastes like a chocolate milk shake which doesn’t sound like a great cocktail but was delicious) the prime rib was the best my husband has ever had and the steak tartar was the most amazing appetizer!!! The piano player was insanely talented. I almost forgot about dessert - we had both the peanut butter pie and creme brulee. Both were fantastic but if I had to pick one it would be the peanut butter pie. Amazing! Our server was also one of the most personable servers we have ever had. He made the night perfect.
The atmosphere, service, and pianist were great. The food was good but a bit on the pricey side. Made an 8 pm reservation and seated promptly with nice view of the marina.
Even with a reservation we waited 20+ minutes. It was a waste of a reservation when we could have chosen a different establishment and just walked in.
Beautiful piano music live, the fine dining and a great view!
It was our anniversary dinner and the piano in the dining room was a nice touch it made for a very nice day dining experience.
Loved everything about our dinner experience. Fred & Yijit we’re sooo friendly, attentive & knowledgable about food prep & choices. The Tiffany-like ceiling lamps were stunning, the lake views were breathtaking especially during sunset. The food presentation was gorgeous & the sautéed Walleye was mouth melting with lobster beurre blanc! We were steered toward the crème brûlée & it was the creamiest most whipped crème I have ever had & I never hesitate to order crème brûlée anywhere. A perfect evening!
The view, food and service were great. And we loved the pianist — he was very talented.
