The view, food and service were great. And we loved the pianist — he was very talented.
Great food and atmosphere
Dinner was wonderful. Each course was flavorful and presentation was nicely done.
Patio is closed but otherwise great!
I have been to the 1852 Grill Room many times. Obviously, it is a favorite. The food has always been excellent and the staff is always very welcoming and pleasant. On this visit I thought the food was particularly good. I think the menu is a bit pricey but, again, I keep going back so I am willing to pay a little bit more. Very happy and would highly recommend.
While it took a couple of minutes to be acknowledged upon our entry, we were greeted and seated at a spot with a lovely view out to the water. Service was excellent and our dishes were delicious
This was our first time dining at 1852 Grill Room and we will definitely be back. The restaurant ambiance is comfortable and calming with a great view of the harbor and an excellent classical/easy listening background pop mix by the live pianist. Our server Fred did an excellent job taking care of us from the moment we arrived. His efficient and friendly service coupled with perfect wine selections helped make our evening a memorable one. Menu selections were great with lots of unique items to choose from. The moules marinières, shaved seared tuna and Dover sole are fantastic fish selections. The fillet mignon was one of the best I ever tasted, amazingly tender and flavorable. This restaurant is very popular so make sure you have a reservation and ask for a window table when you book.
Last year my wife and I had the best dinner of our lives. This year we ordered the exact same entrees. My wifes med-rare prime rib was well done, and my fish was bland.
Perfect table in front of the window! Everything was terrific. Erica was great server.
Dinner was delicious. Service was great and efficient. Piano music was spectacular!
Everything was just wonderful, and the excellent piano player in the background was the perfect icing on the cake!
Our waiter was very thoughtful, polite, patient, He had great recommendations for drinks and cuisine, well informed, Our food order came out perfectly executed, What a great experience, Thank You
excellent on all levels. bar service from Max, was social and accomodating, and our server Rachel was incredibly prompt, informative, and personable! also, due to change in ferry schedule, they graciously moved our reservation so we could eat there, and still get off the island!
Wounderful listening to a live Piano being played and the overall ambiance truly complimented the food and service.
Beautiful view, great service, great food. Wife and I shared a sashimi tuna appetizer, then the prime rib. Thank goodness we shared, could not have eaten a full serving! Grasshopper frozen drink finished the evening. Wonderful water view, walking distance from downtown Mackinac Island.
Our waiter Fred made several excellent suggestions for both food and wine.
Fantastic dinner with service by Eric’s delightful and the ambiance wonderful. I would highly recommend this restaurant!
The venue is absolutely beautiful. Service was outstanding. We did not know that the breakfast was $30.00 per person (no children’s menu) so we paid $150.00 for breakfast that was just ok. It was your standard breakfast, a waffle, omelet, eggs Benedict, pancakes ect ect.
You choose one main dish, one side and two drinks (coffee, orange juice, milk, soda ect) for $30.00.
When we booked this restaurant it did not say it was a $30.00 breakfast and no children’s menu.
Have never paid $150.00 for just an ok breakfasts. But the atmosphere is amazing
My family of 6 had breakfast here. We had 3 bagels with lox and 3 waffle for the kids. Everything tasted good which is why I have the 2 star. The side for the lox was ridiculously little. It was about a quarter of a boiled egg chopped, 2 thin slices of cucumbers, some capers and less than a teaspoon of chopped tomatoes. It’s $30 a plate so we paid $200 and left hungry. The service was slow. Not worth it.
Great food excellent service extremely professional and every course very timely
Excellent food and professional service. Loved the skilled pianist.
Everything was amazing: from our initial greeting by Tim, the GM, to Rachel, our wonderfully knowledgeable the wine & food was fabulous.
Looking forward to our return visit in 2 weeks hopefully.
Beautiful view from our front room table. Lovely piano music, great food, cocktails and service. My only complaint is I asked for my shrimp cocktail and clam chowder to be served with my husband's entree as I did not order an entree too. Other than that tiny mishap it was a perfect experience.
Our dinner at 1853 Grill House was perfect. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was delightful on the outdoor patio. Fred our server was awesome and made us feel like we were his only table of the evening. He definitely added to our wonderful experience. Will go back there every time we are back on the island.
We were very excited for dinner here based on recommendations but it did not live up to the hype.
The host was dressed in a polo for a formal dining room and honestly rude. We were not greeted for over 10 mins at our table or offered water. Never offered Bread with dinner.
No one explained the two menus as there was a seasonal. The tables around us, one was drunk and loud. Kind of ruins the night.
When the food was delivered the server auctioned it off. And he was wearing ear buds. When they cleared the plates, they cleared from the wrong side and it was awkward.
As the sun set the sky was beautiful and no one opened the blinds to see. You go there for the view.
The filet was fatty and fliers are usually not fatty.
Erica was great but you could tell she had a big section and could properly give her tables the attention they deserved. She tried and kept a smile on her face.
We booked reservations for 6 pm with a patio table because the view here is magnificent, overlooking the beautiful harbor of Mackinac Island. We were seated immediately upon arrival and Fred offered menu suggestions that were spot on. We started with the special appetizer of grilled shrimp, watermelon and burrata and it was delicious. My husband had the Walleye and I enjoyed the Halibut, both entrees were well presented and creative. We paired with wine and had creme brûlée for dessert and they added a candle for my husbands birthday. While the food was excellent, and the service above reproach, we enjoyed the company of the other diners at the adjacent tables on the patio, it was a very social evening in Mackinac and one we won’t forget. Thank you, Fred for the fine service. Don’t hesitate to book dinner here. We will be back.
Fred was the best. Had a great time on the patio talking with other guests great food great night
The live pianist was the high light of the evening!! Great food, service and ambiance—truly a wonderful evening❤️
Beautiful setting overlooking the harbor.
Kevin was our awesome waiter! Delicious food & perfect wine pairing. A lovely evening.
Fred was an outstanding waiter. We sat outside, which was beautiful and our food was outstanding. I highly recommend the lobster risotto.
Prices are just higher in general on the island, but that’s normal.
Lots of menu options. Able to accommodate dietary requirements with no problem and no reduction in quality or taste. Really enjoyed the restaurant the view and the food
My wife and I shared the Tomahawk for two and it was absolutely delicious! Staff was friendly. Ambience and live piano player made it quite an experience. I highly recommend for that special evening out.
Outstanding service. Great view as well. I would recommend this place as one of the nicer spots on the island.
Best view! Celebrated 10 years anniversary. Great food and service.
Welcoming, courteous, professional staff. Excellent variety of options on menu. Everything we had was so tasty! We had the Scottish salmon, classic wedge salad, cheese potato soup, mudslide, coffee for two, and a New Zealand sauvignon blanc. Would definitely recommend and will return for more!
Unpopular opinion--better than grand hotel dining room. Small dining with awesome service!
The piano music was lovely - the food was good for the most part!
The wait person was very professional and very friendly. Enjoyed talking to him. He gave us some good recommendations on what drinks and food to order. I did have lobster risotto which was a little salty and my husband's salad was a little too garlicky which we feel takes away from the taste of the cuisine.. however they were very good and I would get them again. The lobster risotto did have many pieces of large lobster.
