The 1770 House, located in the heart of East Hampton is the Hampton's premier fine dining location. The 1770 House proudly offers three different dining settings to choose from. Our luxurious main dining room, the casual Tavern, or the beautiful outdoor garden patio.
A wonderful date night with my husband. We somehow was able to get reservations on a Sat night- we had an excellent server and outstanding food. The chocolate creme brûlée was decadent and a great new twist on an original dessert. I have a gluten allergy and were happy to accommodate. Every time I go to the Hamptons, I make a stop at 1770, and they have NOT disappointed me!
our service & food were amazing- we sat outside in the garden area & it was serene and beautifully kept.
Best fluke tartare anywhere. The food is always good and the service is attentive and wonderful. It is one of our favorite spots in the Hamptons.
Always a treat!! Always fulfilling expectations and never failing to pleasantly surprise and surpass past experiences. Will be back again for sure next summer. (Tip: call and ask about garden seating, it’s worth it).
1770 House is my favorite restaurant in East Hampton. It never disappoints; the food is delicious and the service is impeccable.
Was looking forward to dining at 1770 House and was not disappointed. Started the evening with a cocktail in the beautiful outdoor patio area. Food was well-prepared, service attentive and decor elegantly colonial.
Wonderful service and great food. Pricey but worth it.
We had our wedding reception here 11 years ago. It was amazing. Put that in the open table reservation. Not expecting any favors but not even a mention was lame. Service was good enough, but food which was super pricey was average at very best. A bummer as we had such a lovely reception many years ago and came back to have another great evening.
Came here as a bucket list item on recommendation from Ina Garten in one of her cookbooks. So worth it. Food was delicious and staff was friendly. Ate in the Tavern. When in the Hamptons again, will definately come back!
Never had an unforgettable time there. Every season is a great season to indulge in a memorial experience at the 1770 House.
Great ambiance, very good service. The food is good and ingredients always fresh. Only remark, a bit overpriced. But hey, we're in the Hamptons.
We come here several times a year for many years.....since way before current ownership. Has always been
a wonderful setting. Under current ownership the restaurant has been even better. Food always wonderful. wine list caters to veracious price ranges. Service outstanding.
Excellent food and service. Great for a special occasion.
I'm hesitant to leave a great review because I want to go back there and enjoy it again without it being mobbed. In short, it was amazing. We sat outside in the back where they have 7 or so 5-top tables arranged in a circle around a water fountain. The trees glow with lamps that are sporadically placed throughout creating a very inviting, romantic atmosphere. Service was friendly and conversational but very professional and helpful. They never tried to sell us more than we wanted. The food was really special. We (two of us) shared the fluke tartar (glass of chard), fois gras, and 14oz NY strip (half bottle gigondas) and we were both full. They age it for 20 something days in a cave with Himalayan salt on the walls to pull the moisture out of the meat. The result is ridiculous. It was a great experience. We'll definitely be back.
It was a wonderful dining experience overall..
food, service and ambiance were perfect!!!
We took friends for a thank u dinner - it was divine. Showed them how much they were appreciated - in style.
From the oysters to the chocolate crepe brûlée — everything was simply delicious
Excellent food and cozy ambiance. However, one of the male servers was a little unprofessional; thinking out loud and saying inappropriate and irrelevant things.
Food is amazing!
The date cake was extremely good
Entrees were also fantastic.. we had the striped bass and scallops and both had such flavor
It was great to find a quiet restaurant in East Hampton! Service was extremely polite but varied in knowledge and personality depending on who you got (we had a waiter change late in the meal). Our salad was overdressed and very salty but everything else was excellent. The striped bass was a work of art and delicious.
1770 House is arguably the best restaurant in East Hampton. The food is always impeccable- fresh, clean and so tasty. The service is professional and kind. The ambience is so, so special. If the weather is nice, try to score a table in the outdoor patio.
Excellent as always. Superb service and excellent wine list. Chocolate creme brûlée was out of this world.
We celebrated my daughter’s sweet 16 here on the patio and had the most wonderful evening- perfect service in a charming setting for a creative and deftly executed meal featuring local/seasonal food. Thank you! ❤️
Always wonderful! I enjoyed the chilled sweet pea soup followed by local striped bass. Then my husband and I shared their version of strawberry short cake...amazing! Ate too much, but loved every bite. Service was perfect and, sitting in the garden, it is one of the few restaurants in East Hampton where four people at the table can carry on a conversation. Thank you, 1770!
The servers were all very friendly, polite and accommodating - responding to every question and request promptly. The setting is quaint and warm - truly tasteful. The food, from salad, to dessert was really very flavorful and presented beautiful. Definitely a great spot for a special ocassion, or cozy date night.

Had a beautiful eve under the stars ! Great food great service great management. !
Amazing food and ambiance. Dined on the outdoor patio on a perfect evening. The service and food were top notch in an elegant tranquil atmosphere.
This place is a home run every time !
Delicious and light!
Birthday. Great celebration!
Loved it. Food terrific ambiance really nice. Service very good
Best restaurant on the east end
Excellent food great atmosphere and service
We had a wonderful experience at 1770 House. From the moment we walked in until we left everything was spot on. The restaurant itself is understated elegance - cozy yet sophisticated if that makes sense. Extremely clean too (I am a neat freak and hate when restaurants aren’t spotless). Our food was so good. I started with Tuna sashimi and my husband had fluke tartare. Both were fresh and melted in our mouths. For mains I had the chicken which was simply prepared but so moist and delectable. Husband had rack of lamb which he loved. Server was knowledgeable and very accommodating allowing me to sample two different wines since they didn’t serve my favorite New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (only California). The portion sizes were plentiful. We were so full we had no room for dessert. We loved this place and plan on bringing my mom for her next birthday. Thanks for a great meal 1770!
Food, wine, service. ambience
Will definitely go back next time I am in the Hamptons
Went for our wedding anniversary. We had the scallops and rack of lamb. Limited number of specials. The food was excellent and the service was very attentive. Very cozy inside this inn. Would recommend for any special occasion dinner.
Amazing service with outstanding food. Some of the best in the Hamptons
One of the best restaurants in the hamptons. Superb food. We ate in the beautiful outdoor terrace. Had great attentive service.
This restaurant was outstanding. The food was absolutely delicious, local and fresh and creatively prepared. The staff could not have been nicer or more welcoming and the management backed them up in every way. If we lived closer we'd be there all the time.
Very quaint and lovely restaurant. Would eat there again. Food was wonderful
