Great food, great service!!
Anniversary dinner. Didn’t know anything about this restaurant but the reviews were good so we decided to try it. Came out to the Hamptons for the weekend. Food was really good and service was excellent.
We were there for restaurant week and were very impressed with our dinners. We ordered the shaved brussels sprout salad and the roasted butternut squash soup. Both were out of this world. For entrees, we ordered the pork rib eye and the Scottish salmon. They were also quite good. Dessert included coconut semolina cake and sticky date cake providing and excellent finish to our meal. Add to that the incredibly friendly and attentive service and it all added up to a great experience.
Restaurant Week menu was excellent (and an excellent value) and you can't beat the ambiance. An East Hampton gem.
This was our first time at 1770 House... the food, service and atmosphere where excellent!!! Great selection of of food and beverages.
Food is always good but prie fixe menu has been always predictable, 4 apertizers and 4 entres without surcharges. They should increase number of entres. In addition, they should make any entre over $30 offered downstairs tavern available at the main dining room. Other than that food and service were excellent.
Wonderful as always
We enjoy our dinner so much. This restaurant has a very cozy atmosphere. Our server Lisa was outstanding. Very helpful and knowledgeable.
Restaurant Week Menu was fabulous. The Salmon was the most incredibly delicious dish. The warm cinnamon donuts with anglaise sauce were amazing!
Service was impeccable! Limited menu but tasty. Would have liked to see bay scallops or other seasonal fish on menu. Worth the 45 minute drive from Quogue in the off season.
Everything perfect here.
Food always superb and of the highest quality, friendly helpful waitstaff.
Dining room remains too “stuffy” regarding AIR FLOW no matter the time of year.
We had been to this restaurant before, but this time we went during restaurant week. As always, the restaurant was warm and inviting, and the service was impeccable. The quality and presentation of the food was very good, but the menu for restaurant week was very limited. For example, the choice of appetizers were a soup, beet salad, or brussel sprouts salad (none of which appealed to me personally.) I recommend if you are going here for restaurant week, you review the menu ahead of time.
What a wonderful meal during Resturant week...great value!
As always, a great dining experience! The wine, food, and service are all top-notch. The best restaurant in the Hamptons IMHO.
Honestly, this place was underwhelming in almost every way.
The tables are right on top of each other so what could be intimate was not at all as every word from every conversation could be heard from each surrounding table. With no music to drown this out, it’s very awkward indeed.
The place is decorated like an antique store, maybe that’s appealing to some, but it’s not where I want to spend $300.
The service, though decent, was bent on constantly trying to up charge us. On every selection. Never once was the cheaper of two choices recommended.
The menu was uninspiring. It was like I went to a country club in the 1980’s in Connecticut. New York prices with absolutely no New York flair.
The food was bland and borderline bad. The chef refused to do any substitutions, so I’m not sure what he was trying to protect...
Save your money and go get a burger somewhere.
1770 never disappoints! The food is inventive and delicious. I really need to go more often because I was reminded how wonderful the food is!
Always delicious and wonderful service.
My husband and I usually dine here on special occasions. We love both the romantic atmosphere in the main dining room, and also the coziness of the tavern. The wait staff is wonderful. Very knowledgeable. Attentive without being intrusive. 1770 House is definitely my favorite restaurant!
The best meal in east Hampton. The monkfish was superb Such a cozy elegant dining room.
My husband and I went to 1770 House on Tuesday for our anniversary. We got there early,
so had a drink downstairs before dinner. Very nice, friendly people. Then, we had wonderful dinners
and wine to compliment in the upstairs dining room. Thank you for such a pleasant evening.
Outstanding service and food. We will be back soon!
Colonial era building, restaurant charming. Menu and preparation generally excellent. Monkfish outstanding but Rohan duck chewy. We’ve dined here several times and will again.
Having dined at 1770 House many times in the past, this was a very disappointing visit. The setting is undeniably lovely but the food left much to be desired. Despite extravagant descriptions of the ingredients by the waitress, the results were bland and uninspired. Perhaps the in-season chef has departed now that summer is over and the ‘B team’ has taken over. Add to that perfunctory service and high prices and we left quite disappointed in contrast to previous visits.
We had a FABULOUS experience!! Will definitely recommend & return. Thank you!!!!
Outstanding dinner, service and ambiance! We had the butternut squash soup, scallop crudo & the duck with bok choy was amazing!!
A wonderful date night with my husband. We somehow was able to get reservations on a Sat night- we had an excellent server and outstanding food. The chocolate creme brûlée was decadent and a great new twist on an original dessert. I have a gluten allergy and were happy to accommodate. Every time I go to the Hamptons, I make a stop at 1770, and they have NOT disappointed me!
our service & food were amazing- we sat outside in the garden area & it was serene and beautifully kept.
Best fluke tartare anywhere. The food is always good and the service is attentive and wonderful. It is one of our favorite spots in the Hamptons.
Always a treat!! Always fulfilling expectations and never failing to pleasantly surprise and surpass past experiences. Will be back again for sure next summer. (Tip: call and ask about garden seating, it’s worth it).
1770 House is my favorite restaurant in East Hampton. It never disappoints; the food is delicious and the service is impeccable.
Was looking forward to dining at 1770 House and was not disappointed. Started the evening with a cocktail in the beautiful outdoor patio area. Food was well-prepared, service attentive and decor elegantly colonial.
Wonderful service and great food. Pricey but worth it.
We had our wedding reception here 11 years ago. It was amazing. Put that in the open table reservation. Not expecting any favors but not even a mention was lame. Service was good enough, but food which was super pricey was average at very best. A bummer as we had such a lovely reception many years ago and came back to have another great evening.
Came here as a bucket list item on recommendation from Ina Garten in one of her cookbooks. So worth it. Food was delicious and staff was friendly. Ate in the Tavern. When in the Hamptons again, will definately come back!
Never had an unforgettable time there. Every season is a great season to indulge in a memorial experience at the 1770 House.
Great ambiance, very good service. The food is good and ingredients always fresh. Only remark, a bit overpriced. But hey, we're in the Hamptons.
We come here several times a year for many years.....since way before current ownership. Has always been
a wonderful setting. Under current ownership the restaurant has been even better. Food always wonderful. wine list caters to veracious price ranges. Service outstanding.
Excellent food and service. Great for a special occasion.
I'm hesitant to leave a great review because I want to go back there and enjoy it again without it being mobbed. In short, it was amazing. We sat outside in the back where they have 7 or so 5-top tables arranged in a circle around a water fountain. The trees glow with lamps that are sporadically placed throughout creating a very inviting, romantic atmosphere. Service was friendly and conversational but very professional and helpful. They never tried to sell us more than we wanted. The food was really special. We (two of us) shared the fluke tartar (glass of chard), fois gras, and 14oz NY strip (half bottle gigondas) and we were both full. They age it for 20 something days in a cave with Himalayan salt on the walls to pull the moisture out of the meat. The result is ridiculous. It was a great experience. We'll definitely be back.
It was a wonderful dining experience overall..
food, service and ambiance were perfect!!!
