Wonderful experience. Will truly miss the restaurant and people.
12th Ave is my favorite restaurant! So bummed that they are closing so we had to dine there at least one last time. The food and service are always amazing. Mac and cheese is the best! The rib-eye was cooked perfectly, medium rare plus! Wishing the owners all the best and looking forward to see them at their next endeavor!
I love this restaurant so much I save it for every special occasion. Staff is so cool and give it the best experience consistently every time!
This review won't help anyone because 12th Avenue serves its last meal on Sunday. Nonetheless, we wanted to send one lat mahalo for many jobs well done and well-served. We will sorely miss you. Aloha nui loa,
One of the best restaurants in Hawaii. We will miss you
We had to go one last time because it's 12th's last hurrah. Gonna miss this place - such a great option if you want great comfort food, friendly & attentive service, really terrific libations! Thank you everyone at 12th Avenue Grill!
We thoroughly enjoyed our final meal at 12th Avenue Grill as they are closing their doors and ending an era of fantastic food and excellent service. Thank you for the lovely memories we have gathered over the years.
We will miss 12th Av grill. We have been going there for 15 years.
We are very sad to see 12th Ave close and leave our neighborhood. Where do we go now for quality local gourmet comfort food? Please return (even in a new concept) once covid is over and we will be here for you!
Not up to usual standards of service but in fairness, they are closing this weekend and were short on items (wine glasses, featured wine of the day).
Am sad to see them go.
Had a great dinner last night! Will absolutely dine in again. The croutons on the corn chowder were amazing!
Looked so forward to returning to 12 th Ave Grill.
Service was great albeit a hiccup of being served food but not cutlery.
One meal was excellent. The second was a touch dry.
The ordered bottle of wine was acidic in taste and we wouldn’t drink it. Mgmt suggested we cap it and take it home and order glasses of another wine at full cost to us!
It is not a wonder that the place was only half full of patrons.
We sat at the bar and had excellent service. The food was much better than I expected from looking at the place on the outside. I was even impressed with the inside and decor. I’m very happy I have this restaurant a shot. I’ll definitely be back.
We love 12th Ave Grill, and we are never disappointed. Last night's special Beef Wellington was perfection and our servers were outstanding as usual. Aloha!
Delicious food. The Brussel Sprouts were amazing!
Amazing farm to table food and friendly service. So many delicious choices. Easy for all to find something to enjoy!
Amazing like always.
Great food and great wine. Loved the farm to table quality of the food. It was similar to California cuisine but with distinctive Hawaiian characteristics. Fantastic wine list. Great, courteous service. Worth the short drive from Waikiki.
Seated inside because it was chilly and rainy. Our table was distanced appropriately from other diners, near the bar which had no customers seated. Service was very good, friendly, and helpful. Mixed salad was very good and enough to share. I ordered gnocchi with meatballs, trumpet mushrooms, and sauce. Delicious. Partner ordered lamb burger with regular fries. Everything very tasty; bun a bit bulky but tasty too. Wine was good. Ordered Bombay Sapphire gin martini also well made but I wanted a few more London dry choices. Overall very nice experience. One salad, 2 entrees, 2 glasses of wine, 1 martini cost about $120 including tax and tip. Worth repeating.
We were regulars before the pandemic. Christmas Eve was our first time back. Everything went really smoothly with the reservation and check-in. I had the pan seared marlin and my partner the rib-eye and frites. We felt comfortable being back in the restaurant, everything was great. We have another reservation in a few days.
Everything is delicious and the staff is well-trained and attentive. Everything from prime rib to the tako tentacle to gnocchi to mashed bread fruit (instead of potatoes) to mango cheesecake bread pudding; it’s all super delicious. My son even went for the Beef Wellington special and it was executed marvelously. Plus, our compliments to whoever is choosing the wines and the weekly wine specials - everything we tried over two outings was very, very good.
Creative and tasty food. Service was slow and inattentive. Decor needs to be updated.
My husband had the ribeye and said it was the best he ever had. It was done exactly as he asked. I had the fresh catch special, and it was divine. (I wish I could duplicate the delicious sauce.) Mango cheesecake bread pudding for dessert was to die for. Service was excellent and friendly. We would go back on a heartbeat.
We love everything - the oysters, olives, gnocchi, the pasta, the ribeyes and sides. All of it and the service were excellent!
Unfortunately they were very under staffed…way too busy, even though we got there before the crowd…no one knew anything but 1 excellent waiter…who occasionally dropped by to apologize.
We finished our appetizers and the host asked if we wanted deserts…no, we wanted dinner.
use to be my favorite, not any more. The tako was fishy and tough and the papas tasted like yesterday’s…
Think a cook & waiter didn’t show up. Sad.
The restaurant's vibes are great and our server is friendly and helpful. Yet, we were very disappointed with the steak as we asked for a well-done steak, but it was very rare in the middle! The waiter was very nice to offer us a new well-done steak, and after the long wait, the steak arrives burnt and we couldn't eat it at all! When we asked for the check, the manager didn't take the item instead gave us %50 on the item which was very unprofessional from a restaurant establishment like 12th Ave grill especially it's a grill restaurant.
Smoked ahi, wedge salad and steak with lobster. Absolutely everything was delicious.
Check-in and service were professional, quick and accommodating. We did find that the COVID-limited menu was a bit frustrating, as some of our favorite things were missing. But the daily specials were good selections by the chef. Not a great dessert selection, but again, chalk it up to the COVID-limited menu.
It seems like 12th Ave Grill has gone downhill, and perhaps had a change of ownership. I’ve been enjoying the exceptionally well-prepared dinner for years, but the staff is mostly new (Covid-related?) and not as experienced. For example I noticed that the Ono special came with collard greens and truffle-flavored mashed potatoes, neither of which are my favorites. The server very politely declined my request for any substitution, but then asked my companion whether he prefers regular or truffle mashed potatoes with his hamburger … Huh? Why couldn’t I have that option with a more expensive entree?
So I chose the flat iron steak and lobster, which supposedly came with the non-truffle potatoes. The steak was good and properly prepared, the mashed potatos were not regular as the waiter had confirmed to me, but were indeed truffle flavored. And the lobster was a misnomer: langostino might be more accurate - several small pieces in the too heavy sauce on top of the steak.
My husband did get the “seared Ono” which was overdone, tough and rubbery.
The worst is that everyone was in a hurry to get us out even though we dined at 7:30. At about 8pm: “do you want any other hot food” sort of comments - seemed like they were pretty anxious to close down the kitchen at 8. And the rest of the meal experience felt hurried.
I think we will pass on going back; there are so many other wonderful restaurants in Honolulu where the sense of aloha and welcome is sincere. We did not feel either valued or welcome, and the food is not what it used to be.
This was our 4th visit to the 12th Avenue Grill. Reservation was made a month ahead without issue. The restaurant is about 15 minutes from Wikki in a local business area in a residential neighborhood. We found street parking this time and there is a pay parking lot next to the restaurant. We were seated within minutes after the vaccine verification. For the appetizer, we ordered the Lobster Mac ‘n’ Cheese. For the main dishes, we ordered that day’s daily specials Grilled Rack of Lamb and Ribeye and Lobster Oscar. We added Truffle-Parmesan Fries and Cesar Brussels Sprouts sides. For dessert, we ordered the Apple Banana Lumpia Split. The food was once again exceptional and exceeded our expectation. The service was good. The Lemond Ginger Mint cocktail was a good recommendation from our server. It was a dinner that Exceeded our expectations. We will definitely return on our next visit to Ohau and we highly recommend this restaurant.
Great spot. Recommend to all for dinner and cocktails
We had an attentive waiter, who had great recommendations on food and beverages. Our food tasted amazing and the drinks were delicious. We had a nice time and felt safe as we dined outside with plenty of space between us and other groups.
Unfortunately variable food. Did not meet expectations. Thankfully we did not bring guests.
If I recall correctly, Brandon was our waiter. He was very friendly and attentive. This establishment has a great, inventive beverage program, including some very good beers on tap. Those in our group had the meatloaf sandwich, duck two ways and ahi entrees. We all enjoyed them very much. For dessert, one of us had the coconut gelato and the other the coconut sorbet. Both were excellent too.
For us, this is an occasion place to pull out all the stops and indulge in fabulous food and wine. It never disappoints.
So glad 12th Ave Grill made it through the toughest times of the pandemic! This place is worth the visit, nice staff, really good food!
Excellent service, food quality is always on point, portions are perfect and everything is fresh and delicious
Waiter said the one fish they offered wasn’t good so I went with the salad Nichoise. It was a can of tuna swimming in mayonnaise. So disappointed as someone highly recommended it and it was awful.
Everything was great. Minor note, if you order the pork chop ask that it be done to medium temp not well done. Fabulous dish but can be too tough if over cooked.
Overall was a bit disappointed in the food, given the price. I got the pork chop, which was pretty tough. The cocktails were also a bit disappointing. Would not recommend.
