  • "I had high hopes for Zahav, but have to say that I was a bit "underwhelmed" by what we were served and felt as if the food was overpriced for what you get. That said, we are vegetarians and made the decision not to order their prix fixe menu. Perhaps if you eat meat the food would have been as good as we had heard it was, and the prices more justified."

  • "After having to reschedule our reservation several times due to weather and illnesses, we finally made it to Zahav. It was worth the wait and lives up to the hype. The staff is friendly, knowledgable and accommodating. The food was amazing. We ordered the Tayim (their tasting menu) and were able to sample multiple dishes. The salim and hummus was a great start to the meal. I would recommend the Turkish hummus. The crispy grape leaves were delicious along with the crispy haloumi. I loved the Kibbe Naya. I was a little hesitant as I've not always enjoyed tartars in the past. This is so fresh and full of flavor. Amazing. We ordered lamb and eggplant as our larger plates and the were perfectly cooked and full of flavor."

  • "My boyfriend and I went to Zahav for a birthday dinner and did the Tayim option - you definitely leave full!!! Everything was amazing! Service, food, atmosphere. As some things on the menu were different to us but we figured let's try it! One plate we were not crazy about and the waitress was right away happy to bring us a different option. When it came time for dessert, they placed an extra dessert on our table again because we were not crazy about the one plate. I look forward to going back!"

Then you know that it's good food. When your friend, despite having been forewarned by your own reaction does the exact same thing a minute later... Yes, good food. Worth going to. Come hungry and do the tasting menu ($39 for hummus & appetizer dishes, three small plates, and dessert)."

  • "Dined as a group of four. Went for roasted lamb shoulder menu. Delectable. Everything- from amazing meze and freshly baked flat bread to cheff choice desserts. Could not give a review of bar scene and alcoholic beverages because none of us drink, but on the table next to us saw some cool looking drinks and happy faces. Service is impeccable."

  • "What a wonderful dinner! We each had the special in which we chose 2 small plates, one main plate, one dessert, and it also included many salads and hummus and delicious homemade bread. There were 4 of us sharing and we each chose this option, and it was a lot of food! Everything was delicious! Especially the hummus, the tahini with beets, the fried cauliflower, and the lamb stew with lentils. Very reasonably priced - I expected it to be way more expensive! Only slightly negative comment was that it was very loud - so loud in fact that none of us at the table could hear our waiter or the other servers who came to drop off food and explain what it was. All in all though - fantastic! We will all go back!"

  • "This was my third time at Zahav. We brought good friends and I wanted to have them try the lamb shoulder. Fortunately we were able to get the last one of the night. Every course was tremendous. If you have the opportunity, get the lamb shoulder. Tender and tasty. Big enough for launch and dinner the next day!"

For the $39 tasting menu you get a ton of food and all delicious and unique, beautifully presented and by an incredibly polite and genteel waitstaff. The manager was also amazing - friendly, warm and ever present making sure everybody was taken care of. I have already insisted that 3 of my foodie friends must go to Zahav. Just an incredible experience all around."

  • "It was the perfect place to meet and catch up with old friends. Waiter was fantastically patient while we caught up. Gabriel was also brilliantly accommodating to my dairy allergy offering a devine pear sorbet dessert substitute. Will be back again! Only thing I wish I had know earlier was that on Wednesdays parking is free. Valet told me but unfortunately it was right after I bought a ticket."

  • "My experience at Zahav was all positive. I didn't have a single bite of food that wasn't delicious in the three hours I spent there. Almost everything I ate I was trying for the first time and I loved it all. The music, the lighting the interior design, and the view were spectacular as well. Our waitress answered all our questions about the menu knowledgeably. That's about all I have to say except to stress again how amazing the food is. It's indescribable, you'll have to try it for yourself."

  • "We would recommend the Taste of Zahav for first-timers, it provides a large variety with more than enough food to fill a person up. The incredible variety of flavors, textures, colors, and scents that came across our table was impressive. While the atmosphere might not suit those seeking a romantic and quiet/white tablecloth dining experience, it was exactly what we were hoping for -- an unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere to enjoy an amazing dining experience with drinks after a busy day. The staff was helpful, kind, and observant. They never imposed upon us or bothered us in any way, but empty dishes and plates seemed to disappear within seconds of being set down while the table was also cleaned and organized. Can't wait to return!"

  • "Made reservations 2 weeks ago. Ask for the off the menu Lamb Shoulder. Was told they don't reserve them any more but with a 6:30 PM reservation there would be no problem. Needless to say, when we tried to order the lamb dish we were told they were out. That would have been acceptable but after we were served our meal, other tables, who came in after us got the lamb dish. We had aour meal which wasn't bad but small and expensive. Server tried his best to make up for the bad situation. At the end of the day a restaurant that doesnt live up to its promises doesn't deserve my returning."

  • "What a great spot! I couldn't believe the hustle and bustle in this place on a snowy late March night. The place was packed and many people there were celebrating some event. The food- really getting into the tapas/small plates concept so it worked out perfectly. George our server was excellent and knowledgable about the food and wine. A real treat in a quiet part of Society Hill. My new destination pre-and post Ritz movies."

  • "The hummus was absolutely sublime as was the pita that went along with it. The samplings of salads and pickles was a fun complimentary course. We decided to go with the chef's tasting menu and our adventurous attitude was rewarded. First course was roasted Brussels sprouts with sliced almond and some grape leaves stuffed with rice and feta topped with fresh grapes. Delicious. Next, duck hearts which I thought were delicious but a little chewy (but also kind of the nature of the protein). The kicker was the lamb shoulder. Absolutely delicious and completely enormous. We had left overs for days and the waitress even wrote down some left over recipes for us. Two desserts. One forgettable, but the other (chocolate ganache) was to die for."

  • "No wonder this pace is filled to capacity on a Monday night. Food is beautifully prepared, and filled with a cacophony of spices (some with a good amount of heat). Service is swift and attentive with careful consideration of dietary and allergy sensitivities. The evening manager Okan is extraordinary. He watches everything and everyone to make sure that service and patron contentment is as it should be. It's all in the detail and he has an eye for it. If you've never been, expect nothing less than a fun and interesting evening of trying a new way to eat yummy middle eastern food. PS - The tasting menu is the way to go interns of price and the opportunity to try various dishes."

  • "Few meals bring about the dreamy- eyed contemplation of flavors and textures as did my meal here last weekend; it was divine. We took some out of town guests who had read of Zahav in a tour book this was worrisome to me but we were all blown away. We all had the tasting menu: the salatim and mezze plates were all flawless without exception. All of the grilled items ordered were also perfectly cooked and wonderfully flavorful but the first courses were really where the gastronomical magic was. The only complaint we had was that the music was very loud. The musical selections were amusing and included NIN, Soundgarden, Snoop Dog and ODB; but the volume required that we shout across the table to converse with our 70+ yr old dining companions."
