  • "Well, upon entering the resteraunt, the decor really stands out. The place has a really modern feel to it. The place looks like something out of the future. The food then follows suit. We had the deviled eggs that everyone seemed to recommend and they did not dissapoint. I'm Not even a big fan of them normally but they were delicious. Then the burger came... We actually split the burger as it is a 1/2 pound. Getting it as recommended which is fully loaded will run you $30 but oh was it worth it. All the ingredients blend perfectly. It was so good, we were talking about it here and there throughout the night. I would highly recommend this resteraunt and we will return"

The "Z" burger was a little disappointing. The service and the ambience was great and the sound was as pleasant as can be expected in a busy Saturday night trendy spot."

  • "Unique menu options with flair. Chicken and waffles with cheese grits is an interesting, flavorful southern option. The Z burrito combines your eggs, potatoes and jalapeño peppers into a soft shell tortilla with salsa and is a very tasty Mexican style breakfast meal. Portions are plentiful and simple. Specialty cocktails abound, but the spicy Bloody Mary stands out."

  • "Had a wonderful evening with my hubby at Z Grille. This is not a place for the delicate eater. We had their famous deviled eggs ( fabulous), the rib appetizer (perfectly cooked), the beet salad (love the fried chickpeas!). Then mains that would be daunting to mere mortals. The snapper was perfect with lots of roasted veggies. My hubby had the burger, which you must get with everything including the pork belly! Share it if you have too but it is well worth it! Oh,the truffle fries are great! For dessert go out on a limb if you haven't already and get the pastry with bacon & nuts (yes I said bacon!) . Then make plans to work out tomorrow. Service was cheerful & casual. Not for a formal event, but saw lots of folks there for something special."

  • "We arrived and our table was already waiting so we were seated immediately. I opted for one of their signature drinks, the "El Fuego Loco". This delightful Margarita with muddled jalapeños, alone is worth the trip. For an appetizer we chose their deviled eggs and WTF Fries - both excellent choices. My lady was very pleased with the Chicken and Waffles. I got the decadent sounding, Foie Gras Burger and was sadly disappointed. I was upsold on adding pork belly and a quail egg - bad idea. A chicken egg was substituted for the quail egg, which along with the pork belly added too much bulk to an already HUGE burger - it was a mess and impossible to hold. The final insult was that my medium rare burger was delivered medium well."

  • "We were extremely pleased with the quality and selection on the menu. Tough to choose from all of the tempting dishes. The beet salad was wonderful followed by the Korean cuisine inspired Pork Tenderloin. The Pork Tenderloin was the perfect choice for a combination of flavors and textures. Half off wine bottle before 7 on the weekends. The Tampa Bay area badly needs this type of restaurant and we wish them continued success. The only negatives were the vulgar music lyrics and the failure of the table leg hardware. We will be going back"

  • "We had reservations Saturday night for 4 at 6:30. Our waitress was a real turn off. Very loud and referred to me as " Sweetheart", "honey", etc the entire night. It seemed she was annoyed with us at the very beginning when our husbands needed to review the wine list before ordering. Although the food was good, everything we ordered was VERY spicy. A little seasoning goes a long way! I can generally overlook the noise, sometimes the food, and the ambience. But when the server has an attitude, I usually will not return."

  • "We've been meaning to try Z-Grille for a while; it keeps showing up on "best of" lists. Now we know why. The atmosphere and service were fine, but similar to what you'll find at dozens of upscale Tampa eateries. The food, however, is exceptional. The $30 burger is worth it (no, really), and the chicken wing confit appetizer (one of the specials that night) might be the best chicken dish I've ever had, period. The wine, beer, & cocktail selections are very good too. I wanted to order just about everything on the menu; it all sounds great. We'll be back for sure."

  • "We went for Sunday brunch. The menu was very interesting and tantalizing and we were sorry we were not able to try several of the choices. The flavors of the dishes we ordered were nicely blended and balanced. Huevos Rancheros was a great combination of beans, eggs, queso and avocado with grilled tortillas. Tex-Mex in St Pete. The fried chicken and waffles with sticky, cheese grits was also very good. Cocktails were new wave. The service was the real star however. Impeccable to a fault without being intrusive. Incredible, friendly staff. My only complaint would be our order seemed to be a tad slow coming from the kitchen, although there were several large parties dining at the same time."

  • "I have been wanting to go to Z Grille for some time as it definitely had a positive reputation in St. Pete. I finally did on Saturday night. We made reservations, thankfully, and were seated right away. The complimentary valet parking out front was very helpful! The decor is very modern and my date and I were seated at a two-top table that was a brushed metal -- very cool and we sat side by side looking out at the restaurant. The entire side of the restaurant is all glass looking out to the road behind it... and the decor is sleek and ultra modern but it did not feel clinical. The food was the best part. The flavors were fantastic!"

I had the pork belly tacos, which were heavily suggested by the waitress, and they were so heavily slathered in what tasted only of Hoison, drowned out any other taste component. The knee thing ones really dissapointed with is the wait staff experience."

  • "I took my wife there for a Valentines dinner and we were not disappointed. We have wanted to eat at Z Grille for a while but never got around to it. Boy were we sorry we waited so long. The food can be described as "eclectic american." Each dish is taken to the next level by some fun ingredient or spice. It makes fine dining fun and palatable, without all the fluff. The chicken and waffles were amazing, and the Z Grille Burger (with foie gras and a fried egg on top) was delicious. We will definitely be back again!"

  • "My first time at this restaurant. Nice ambience, but was very pricey for the meal. My girlfriend and I had 2 ribeye dinners, a drink (one specialty and one house wine) with no appetizers or desert and spent $83 to include a $10 tip. Not to mention, the asparagus was 4 thin grilled spears and the mashed potatoes was a ice cream scoop size serving. There are more reasonable places where you could get great quality food for 1/2 the price! I will say that this place was very clean and more personable."

  • "The service was fabulous, the hostess was not nice, the valet was absent, and the noise level was deafening. The food was terrific BUT the server informed us that the chef does not like to make substitutions (ie: fries rather than spicy mashed potatoes)... No deviations allowed to ruin the chefs creations. However, for such creations from the chef I was only given a butter knife (instead of a fish knife) to cut my perfectly baked hog fish. Strange a chef feels he can dictate no substitutions, no A1, and no spice modification but you do not get the appropriate flatware to eat the inflexible fare."

  • "My dining companions liked the Z Grille because it was different. Not the same "old" menu one sees everyday. Who would think to put chicken and grits with a waffle? But one of our party loved it! The ribs are to die for and the "Beet it" salad is one of my favorites. All in all a very good dining experience. Judy Feder"

  • "I saw the restaurant on a foodie list and had to give it a go. I decided to take my sister for her 28th birthday and what an experience. The decor is modern eclectic with menu options for the gods. Our party ordered several appetizers and entrees including the California deviled eggs, foie slider, truffle fries, the foie burger, Korean tenderloin and chicken and waffles. The food was AHHHHH-mazing! We are still talking about it. My only gripe is that they close at 10:30p on Fridays and valet isn't available until the last customer leaves; we had to pay to park."

  • "Wanted a quick dinner prior to Queens of the Stone Age. Great food and service. Once criticism was that both drinks were way too sweet. My son specifically requested no sweeteners in his Jalapeno drink and obviously no one paid attention to his request or made an error. Otherwise, I would have given 5 stars across the board."
