A 2009 San Francisco Chronicle Bay Area Top 100 Restaurant. Willi’s Wine Bar's classic roadhouse appeal captures the casual, laid-back nature of the Sonoma County Wine Country. Tourists and locals feel equally at home enjoying a quick bite or lingering over a glass of wine. The menu at Willi's features 32 international small plates, some wildly inventive and others comfortingly familiar. The knowledgeable staff is eager to help create perfect pairings with wines from the extensive wine list. Diners will find a dazzling array of wines by local producers and are likely to find the winemakers themselves at a nearby table.   • "We got there at 5PM and it could not have been a nicer evening or place to enjoy it! For a double Birthday it was tops in service and food and ambiance! We had not been there for a year at least, and I am certain we will be heading back again soon. It is just a little distance from us but well worth the drive! We had two eaters who do not like anything different. Well, the fava beans were at the top of even picky eaters list. Knock out, as was everything else. Service was at the top."

  • "Everything is top notch at Willi's Wine Bar in Santa Rosa. The food is all small plates, each one done well. Lamb chops is one of our favorites. Salads are good too. There is an extensive wine list which includes many choices of wines by the glass as well as flights of wine so you can taste 3 different wines. It is a great way to find new wines that you like."

  • "The food was excellent. And the experience wonderful. The service was great. The only issue, is there seemed to be a disconnect between making reservations on your site and them realizing you are already there. We got asked twice during dinner what name our reservation was under, and they called our house phone and left a message saying we were late to our reservation, even though we were seated exactly at our reservation time. It did not detract from the experience, but was kind of weird."

  • "Met friends for a great lunch on a very cold and rainy day at Willi's -- we were very comfortable sitting on their outside patio as it was well covered and toasty warm with heaters strategically placed between tables. The rain on the patio covers along with the pounding rain made for a wonderful ambiance. The service was top notch and we were not rushed as we enjoyed "I Love Sonoma County Wines" flight. Everyone loved their food choices: roasted carrots, roasted asparagus, crab tacos, riblets, lamb chops, and fresh greens with shaved parmesan. I have never ordered a dish here that I wouldn't want to order again but I have to force myself to branch out and try new items. Do not miss this phenomenal restaurant; you will not regret it."

  • "Was just there a couple weeks ago. This time for lunch . . . Typically, one would think that two people in business suits would not want a lot of time between sitting down and ordering. We were given just a tad too much time than I'd have preferred. We needed to be in and out . . . but the server was friendly and being given more time is preferable than being rushed so they can turn the table. The tuna is fantastic."

  • "Love this restaurant. Creative dishes that are fun to experiment with -- especially if you're with others and share, thereby allowing a wide variety of small tastes. The filet mignon sliders are sublime, as are the fries. Everything is interesting and creative. Would not be good for kids as this is a grown-up restaurant -- and grown-ups like time away from kids. Please leave them home."

  • "Willi's Wine Bar was such a lovely way to wind up a day in Sonoma County. We sat outside and enjoyed the view of the fountain in the garden. The service was friendly and efficient. We loved the flat bread, spinach salad, the lamb chops and my husband enjoyed the bone marrow. However, the gnocchi with truffles was absolutely divine and we're so glad that the waitress recommended it. She said we wouldn't be sorry and she was so right! We had two wine flights…pinot and zinfandel and liked them both. They worked well with our food choices. We finished with espressos. It was wonderful!"

The small plates are unique, fresh and nicely seasoned. Our favorites were ,of course, Willie's signature truffled fries, both the warm spinach salad and the arugula salad, the sauted Brussel sprouts and their excellent dessert selections.....especially the bread pudding. This is a favorite place for special occasions."

  • "Though we have lived in the area for years, this was our first experience at Willi's. It won't be our last!! The food was some of the best we have had anywhere in the Bay Area. The small plate menu allowed us to indulge in a variety of tastes and experiences. Our favorites included the Cauliflower soup shooters (I am still dreaming about those days later) and the Filet and Creamed Spinach Sliders, although every one of the 6 items we had were delicious. My husband was so knocked out by the place, I know it will be hard to get him to go anywhere else for a long, long time! Great wine list as well. The tasting flights made it easy to experience several different wines. Thanks Willi's for a fabulous meal!"

  • "Coming into the place day after Valentines (Saturday night), we realized we had overdressed. This is Sonoma, not Napa, and there's a certain kind of pride in being the more laid back. The menu's came and the first thing we saw was the charcuterie/Cheese platter, and we began planning our starters. It wasn't until we noticed the other side of the menu, and the 20 or so small plates Willi's specialized in, that we realized there was no way we were going to wast time on the likes of simple cured meats and cheese. Everything looked far too good. It did not disappoint. The lamb was a standout, and the shrimp was delicious. We never did get our quail, but we were so stuffed we didn't make issue of it. Great spot, wholly recommend."

  • "Not as remarkable as some reviews make it out to be, but the food is very good and interesting. Lots of choices of small dishes for most every palate. For the money I was expecting more however. It can easily end up as expensive as a good sushi meal. Still, glad we went and would come back. Perhaps some of the experience was lost on us since we're not fans of fine wines."
