Diner Reviews
  • "The dining room is a sophisticated mix of dark wood and glass. The bar is a separate room which would adjust a lively noise level for diners. The kitchen is open but well ventilated. Reservations are accepted for brunch which is a nice feature. Parking is plentiful and free. Beignets and fresh fruit are a complimentary start to brunch and all the offerings are appealing: classics with a few twists. Service was pleasant and prompt. The dining room was well staffed with highly trained. courteous people. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon."

  • "Have tried the dining room a couple times and just didn't have the best experience with service & presentation. We do however make regular treks to the bar area to partake in the Oyster specials on Thursday nights."

  • "This was our second time to Wildwood, and once again, the food was superb. We both started with the tomato shrimp bisque, which was extremely hearty and a little too salty. I had the Striped Bass Oscar. I asked that green beans be substituted for the asparagus, and I was told no. (Green beans were the vegetable of the day.) With entrees at these prices, a restaurant should allow substitutions, even if there is a surcharge. My companion had the filet Oscar, which was also excellent (and also served with asparagus). The dessert we shared was white chocolate creme brulee, and it was perhaps the best creme brulee I have ever tasted. The service was horribly slow on a night that had many tables open."

  • "Always consistent high quality food and service. great wine list. we like to enjoy a great meal and then head into the bar for some live music and a couple of drinks."

  • "Very nice time, Saturday lunch 1 pm. Quiet and excellent service. Food was wonderful. My Daughter had a hard time choosing. She decided on the Lobster Roll and chips. WONDERFUL. I had the Beef tips and Farfel noodles. Wonderful. We had mentioned her Birthday when making the reservation and they brought out a chocolate cake with fresh strawberries with a candle which was a nice surprise addition."

  • "As usual, the Fish Market during lent provides some unique experiences. We had a wonderful halibut with the chef recommended seasonings and sides, it was delicious."

  • "Unfortunately I give the meal I had a 2 but the meal my date had a 1 star. The Prime rib had little flavor and the Pot Roast & Mushroom Rollatini was terrible. Our server on the restaurant side was quick and friendly. The bar area had a nice atmosphere but considering the type of restaurant and the fact there were not that many people in there the live music was very loud. The bartender (heard him tell someone he was the manager) even forgot out drink order and we were sitting at the bar with bar stools still empty. Definitely expected more out of this type of restaurant."

  • "My husband and I decided to try Wildwood during lent for fish. The four specials offered in addition to the regular menu had some choices of fish that we were not familiar with. The waitress was no help in describing amberjack and escolar. Husband ended up ordering amberjack prepared Tuscan style over "creamy" polenta (more like lumpy). I opted for a regular menu item, pan fried Canadian walleye. I thought I would get a filet of walleye but it was more like walleye "fingers" drenched in butter over a combination of spinach, artichokes, black olives, tomatoes and capers. The flavors just didn't come together for me. I might try again based on what I saw other diners having but it is expensive so probably not anytime soon."

  • "The Salmon was a little on the sweeter side. The filet was melt in your mouth tender and cooked to my husbands specifics. Filet tops it!"

  • "The food was very good; the drinks were average but the service (Mark) was outstanding. Average cost per person for a meal, one drink each and a dessert was $55 plus tip. The ambience was very good and the number of diners kept increasing as the evening went on. The increasing number of diners made for a pleasing evening."

  • "This is one of our favorite restaurants. The seasonal menus and specials offer new options and our server, Rachel was very helpful and very personable!"

  • "Best part of our experience was the bar. Excellent service, Excellent drinks. but $12 for a scotch manhattan is too pricey. Dinner was just okay. Very expensive. Steamed Sea Bass was a generous portion, but the fish was musshy...lacked the tender flakey texture of Sea Bass. Safron rice was luke warm and some sections of the rice were still clumped togehter and hard. At $35 for a Sea Bass dinner, I was very disappointed that the chef could not prepare it pan seared or grilled when others at my table were having different fish pan seared. I could understand if the house was packed with people dining, but that was not the case...3/4 of the tables were empty at 7:30 pm on a Friday night."

  • "I had the Two Tournados (Beef Tenderloin with Crap meat) and my wife had the Pork Chop wrapped in bacon with a baked potato on the side. i found the beef to be a little more chewy than I would like with an OK flavor. I didn't really taste much of the crab meat at all. My wife liked the Pork chop, and loved that the brought you a small bar for the baked potato (sour cream, bacon bits and Chives). For desert we had a chocolate and strawberry crepe. It had one strawberry cut up on top of crepes that seemed to be filled with more whipped cream than any chocolate (white or otherwise), so pretty bland. The drink menu was very full with beer and wine choices. offer mixed drinks, but not on a menu."

  • "The food was delicious. Our problem was we ordered off the menu, got our appetizers and salad and then they told us that one entree ordered was seasonal. So that person reordered the duck like another person in our party. After a few minutes we were told duck was also seasonal so 2 people had to reorder. Then the manager came over and basically said sorry. We felt like he should have offered a free drink or dessert on them. So why offer a menu without specifying what is available and why did it take so long to figure out the entrees weren't available. Poor service but delicious food"

  • "Beautiful restaurant but the food is OK at best and they price their food about $10 more a plate than it's worth. I most likely will never go back there again on my own free will. There is a lot better in Geneva and St. Charles."

  • "The food we ate was not even sub par. I had to get a different side with the sea bass I offered because the rice had a dried crunchy top on it telling me it had been sitting out in a container somewhere. Not even edible. The sea bass was so under flavored I had to add salt so I could eat it. It was a total waste of our money. Never again."

  • "Food was very good and waiter was friendly and attentive. We went the night before Valentines Day to avoid the crowds. The restaurant was lively but not full, which was perfect because we didn't feel rushed. We will be back."

  • "This is the 2nd or 3rd Valentines Day that my hubby & I went to WildWood in Geneva, Il. How disappointing!!! Each year the quality level & satisfaction level decreases. Feb 14, 2014 will be our last one spent at WildWood. Last year, or maybe 2012, they sent us home with a small bottle of champagne with a little note attached as a token of appreciation from WildWood. This year...a red rose for the lady. (What happened to the bubbly?) My husband was displeased with the temperature of his steak & our server was unsure how to handle my husbands request. While we were awaiting our servers return, we placed my hubby's plate to the side of the table. A "busboy" asked if he could take the plate away? (He couldn't see the full-size steak?)"

  • "We dined at Wildwood regularly when it first opened. Had a bad experience one time and stopped going. We decided to give it another shot. I think it is just mediocre at best. Salads came warm and tasteless. Entrees were just O.K. For thr price, the quality just isn't there."

  • "We've come to Wildwood off and on over the years and have never been disappointed. It was a mid-week night and wasn't full so we pretty much had our pick of tables. The wait staff was very accommodating to our dietary needs and modified the meals slightly. We don't need to be invited to come back."

  • "My dining experience was phenomenal! Our server, Michelle, always greeted my daughter and I with a smile in a very friendly, courteous manner. :) The bussers were always on top of things--I never had to ask for more water, etc. Even the owner took interest, stopping by our table to make sure we were content, and we were! It was so refreshing to see a restaurant owner take the time to converse with his patrons. For dinner I chose one of the Seasonal Special entrees-in which my daughter kept taking bites from-because it was to die for!!! I will be back to try the other specials! Thank you so much for such a wonderful evening complete with excellent food and service!"

  • "We wanted to make this a nice dinner so drive 45 minutes to get to the restaurant in snow. We were seated and then no one came to the table until after we had been sitting for 25 minutes. There seemed to be only two wait staff for a packed room. Service was very poor, so they offered free glass of wine. Requested Riesling, received Sauvignon Blanc. We ended being there two hours, most of the time waiting for someone to either place the order, and then receive the check. Also, when we did get the salad, the main meal came out within 10 minutes.. didn't really get to enjoy the bread and salad (which was very good). Probably won't be back there."

  • "We went here for New Years Eve. The menu was very limited. Our steaks were good, but they only came with potato and salad. Not enough selection on the steaks. I ordered the ribeye and had to split it with my mother because it was only offered in a 16oz. The service was slow but it was very busy so I'm not going to complain about it. I thought it was very expensive for what you get."

  • "We love this restaurant. It is a cozy warm atmosphere and is much quieter than restaurants with hard modern surfaces. Our food was delicious. (I had skate wing and my husband had the woodsman's chicken.) We were also pleasantly surprised that the menu did have some lower priced items. We plan on coming more regularly."

  • "I ate there with my fiancé and couple friends. The beer and wine list provided many options. I ordered the pecan crusted salmon which came with rice and I ordered asparagus and sweet potatoes on the side. I wasn't as impressed with the salmon as it hoped. The mashed sweet potatoes were amazing. I was a little disappointed in the rice and asparagus. My fiancé got the steak salad and she was very satisfied with it. The service was excellent and very friendly. Overall I would go back I just hope they change how they prepare a few things."

  • "Great place to spend Christmas Eve in the past however this dinner took quite a long time to be served. This was the only negative issue, as by the time we received dinner we were all ready to move on, hence the meal was not as enjoyable as it could have been."

  • "My wife and I have always enjoyed the food and ambience at Wildwood restaurant. We were not disappointed on this occasion as we celebrated our anniversary. Our seafood dinners were cooked to perfection, and the staff made the occasion thoroughly pleasant."

  • "We waited for over an hour for our food. The beer & wine were good but the food not so much. The steaks were tasteless and my salmon wasn't fully cooked. Granted we went on Christmas Eve but I had reservations made well ahead of time."

  • "Christmas Eve dinner:found that for the price, the overall experience was poor. They sat us almost directly in front of the door where we got an arctic blast every 60 seconds. After 15 minutes of shivering my husband asked for a new table . The new table was almost in the kitchen walkway. Our entrees took 1 1/2 hours to arrive. The waiter apologized 3 times and admitted they were overbooked. Another patron walked to the kitchen and demanded to see her waiter where she loudly voiced her displeasure with the service. 3 of our 5 like our meals. Will not return."
