I had the sea bass and sablefish, both cooked perfectly. Hubby had the bison tenderloin which he devoured. The beef carpaccio with Parmesan truffle fries is a must."

  • "The place was great, but the waiter spilled my $60 bottle of wine, losing about a glass and it got over my white dress shirt. He was not very attentive and my steak was incredibly salty, if it wasn't a special occasion I would have walked out. In the end for a $200 bill there wasn't even a small discount due to my red wine being spilled over me, was disgusted that such a nice restaurant would treat customers this way. The restaurant was beautiful inside and the general manager offered earlier in the day to get flowers for my date because the ones I had ordered did not arrive. It was for that one shining moment that I laughed off the bad service and horrendously over salted steak. This was my first and will be the last time I return. Richard"

  • "I heard about this restaurant from a few people. It definitely lived up to the reviews from friends. Service staff was knowledgable about the menu and the wine list. Very helpful. I ordered the 2 fish plate and was very impressed, both fish were cooked perfectly. My girlfriend had the lamb and commented it was the best lamb she has had in a restaurant. I'm looking forward to my next evening here."

The manager make a point of talking to us and offered a special champagne to commemorate the occasion.   • "An airy brioche with rainbow crystals of sea-salted butter floats to your table, then a spoon of chicken, whipped cream cheese, and spices appears. And soon the delicate crab cakes and stunning molded 5 cm. high disk of tender potato slices and light mayonnaise they pair with the cakes. This is "Something Light", as is my partner's succulent 3-wild mushroom ravioli with asparagus spear tips. Really, we feared we have to order entrees, but we were sated -- after desserts instead: a "deconstructed Black Forest cake with berry coulis, flourless chocolate triangles, a snowball of home-made ice cream in Creme Anglais. And a berry enrobed moist cheesecake for pal. Incredible, light meals. Better even than their extra-special Sunday brunches."

  • "We had a patio reservation but a) it was a little chilly and there were no heaters, and b) the patio was small and a bit dingy. We were given a pleasant seat by the window instead. Our server was very professional and no obtrusive, which is much appreciated. The food was a bit off the mark. Some of the lettuce in my watermelon salad was wilted, and my bison was a bit dry and over-cooked. And my dining companion agrees that the flavours in the entrees (he had the lamb shank) were anything but subtle. The wine was pleasant but overpriced, with more than the usual restaurant markup."

  • "I just returned from Edmonton, AB where I stayed at the Matrix Hotel. The Wildflower Grill is located off the lobby of the hotel. I made a dinner reservation for myself and a brunch reservation for four guests. I ordered lamb shank for dinner and although tasty, I found the meal to be heavy and rather expensive meal at $39. However, the brunch menu was much lighter, less expensive and very enjoyable. The service provided on both occasions was excellent, friendly and efficient. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant for a special occasion dinner or a family brunch for adults."

  • "I brought 2 clients for dinner. The staff was inexperienced, poorly trained and for the price this restaurant demands, the food and service should provide professional service. The waiter did not check in with us for water, how the meal was, etc. The food presentation is good. Our appetizers presented well and we all enjoyed them. Main course I had the fish combo, which was Ok but found the sabel fish bland. My 1 client order the beef and foir gras, he asked for rare and got medium. Clearing the table she stacked everything! She dropped forks on my client, when I told her this is very inapproperiate she said she wanted to clear everything at once. Disappointing experience."

Despite being very new, our server was friendly and professional which immediately put us at ease. Having personal service from both the owner and GM added an extra touch which we both appreciated. The food was fantastic with our only complaints being that the portions were too big for us to save room for dessert. Overall, Wildflower truly surprised us both and will certainly be a place we will happily return to."

When there for lunch, we were informed by a very rude wait staff member, that they were training new staff and to give them a hard time. Odd! Then this man kept taking over where the trainee; who was doing a wonderful job, and we wouldn't have thought he was training if we weren't told, did his job. The trainee was wonderful, and knew his job responsibilities. The trainer was rude and walked astound with a "head cocked high up in the air, entitled" attitude. Service would have been excellent had we not had this trainer interrupting our dining experience."

  • "My wife and I went to the Wildflower Grill for our anniversary brunch on a Sunday. The service was very friendly (maybe a bit over the top). Some complimentary fresh pastry to start with homemade jam was a definite bonus. French press organic blue mountain coffee from Jamaica a nice touch. Good selection of food items for brunch. The food was good and tasty, nicely presented, portions appropriate, decently priced. Salmon eggs bene on phyllo shells were among the better ones in town. Alberta Steak a bit dry but still very decent. Modern, stylish interior, showing a bit of wear. All around a nice place to go for an excellent brunch without getting a hole burned into your wallet."

  • "We are always satisfied with or Wildflower inning experiences. Last weekend was no exception. We enjoyed to flaky and delicious brioche with Hawaiian sea salt while we sipped cocktails and decided on dinner. I had the baked Camembert followed by the bison, with a beautiful soufflé for dessert. My husband had the duck confit, the tenderloin and the creme brûlée trio. Everything was prepared perfectly and beautifully presented. Our waitress was personable while maintaining a professional demeanor. As always, the Wildflower is a wonderful place to celebrate life and good food. "

The food was outstanding and there was a nice variety to select from. Our server's knowledge of your wine was appreciated and we tied a couple of new wines that were perfect.   • "During a visit to Edmonton we stumbled the Wild Flower Grill and instantly fell in love with the place. Went back a second time a few months later to be wowed even more. We just moved to Edmonton this weekend and wanted to celebrate my 50th birthday with friends only to be very disappointed. The Chef that made the name for this place has left along with a good portion of the excellent service staff. Our server was ok, but had only been there for 2 weeks. The food was OK, but you could tell that there was someone different in the kitchen. The killer is charging $46 for a Rib Eye steak that was no more special than an Applebees. This place has lost that special sparkle and need to adjust accordingly or will lose it all."
