A word from Wild Ginger at The Bravern
The food at Wild Ginger spans the Pacific Rim from China to Indonesia. We pride ourselves on offering traditional dishes from these distinctive regions and insist on house-made ingredients. Chefs make spicy chili sambals, fresh coconut milk, delicate egg noodles, and our pungent oyster sauce all from scratch. To achieve the sublime flavors of the East, there is no substitute for the time-honored customs of these rich and ancient cultures.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "Nice ambiance and crowd was moderate and quiet, allowing for good private dinner. Wait staff was attentive and on-point, service was timely but not too overbearing."

  • "My husband and I went to try out the restaurant through Seattle Restaurant Week. We had our car valet parked, were seated in the bowels of the restaurant next to the kitchen (bad sign), ordered 2 drinks and chatted for a few minutes. We then asked for the special 3 course lunchmenu that was posted online for the event. The waiter had no idea what we were talking about so we told him about it but he said we must have the wrong dates or the wrong restaurant. I told him the website had the restaurant listed with today's date. He just said sorry, they weren't doing it until the following day. I was SO angry! We asked for our check , paid $23 for 2 drinks, $7 for valet parking and won't be returning--what a waste of time and money-ugh."

  • "Had the salt and pepper shrimp with broccoli. Very good. Also loved the ginger lemonade. Service was slow and had to wave to attract our waiter's attention, but a good experience overall."

  • "I went with a friend; there were two of us, females. I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but they stuck us in a corner table on the bottom floor under a huge vent system which meant there wasn't any lighting above us. We literally were the last table in the restaurant. It was not a particularly busy night so I don't know why we were seated in Siberia. Immediately we said to each other, what the heck? Thankfully we had a great server. We were there for four hours; we had a drinks, appetizers and dinner. The next time I go there I will make a point of calling to my reservation instead of doing it online so that I can let them know I do not want that bad table again."

  • "We had the duck and laksa. The laksa soup was somewhat insipid - I had the medium and the proportion of noodle to herbs was a bit unbalanced. The duck, fashioned in the dry-roast style was okay, not too dry and not fatty, tasty enough, but was served on a bed of wilted lettuce - very unappetising. Not sure if the lettuce was put there just to "bulk" up the presentation of the dish. Nice enough dining experience (my kids liked the duck) but I was a little surprised it wasn't more outstanding, considering the ambience was quite high-end."

  • "We had a delightful night - we had early reservations (5:30 p.m.) and they seated us promptly - nice area we were seated in. The server was wonderful, his name was Gavin. He was attentive, helpful in suggestions. The food was wonderful - everything we ordered was to perfection. We will, no doubt, be going back. Thanks to everyone at Wild Ginger for making this such a pleasant evening."

  • "While the portions are smallish, the food is very high quality. Excellent for business lunches and dinners. Nice fresh sheet, excellent wine list."

  • "The food was great. We really likes the Satay selection and everything was delicious. Great for a group so you can share as all the food was "family style", at least what we ordered. The Duck was terrific... with the buns and sauce and I'm still dreaming of it ... You need a reservation or you could be waiting 1 hour or more for a table... so book ahead of time! My 3 yr old ended up coming and her food came last, not great, but the server quickly corrected the situation by taking the kid's satay off our bill (she was eating the steamed buns from the duck while she waited)."

  • "I took a group of 7 here for dinner. The restaurant staff was fantastic and engaged everyone at the table. Great wine selections to. Try the lamb chops, Chilean sea bass and the spicy green beans. It was all well prepared and flavorful!"

  • "As young parents we don't splurge on going out often, but I'm sure glad we did! They even treated us to the most AMAZING flour less chocolate cake with orange infused whip cream!! Makes my mouth water just thinking about it"

  • "Tasty food and very good service on date night. Good people watching too."

  • "I have eaten many times at the wild ginger in Seattle and enjoyed it. By comparison, the Bellevue location was a disappointment. The food portions were small and overpriced. The service and ambience were average at best. I would no return."

  • "Our server Laura lacked any customer service skills; in fact, she did not smile a single time while at our table. She was rude and seemed inconvenienced by us from the moment we sat down. Speed of service was poor; a guest had to get up to get a pitcher of water to fill our water glasses during our meal. I requested a spoon for my soup at one point, a seemingly reasonable request, and she responded, ‘I’m sure I already gave you one, but I’ll get you another.’ When setting place settings in front of one of the guests, a piece of silverware dropped and she cursed. These were just a few ‘highlights’ of the terrible experience we had at Wild Ginger."

  • "With a reservation, we ended up with the table at the top of the stairs, by the front door. The traffic was crazy. Everyone had to walk past us. Not the best location. Service was slow and food arrived at different times. The food was good, not outstanding. My neighborhood thai is better."

  • "Laura is awesome! Attentive and professional. Mark was so great with the wine. Loved our experience!"

  • "We always order 7 Element Soup when we eat lunch at Wild Ginger. It had been our favorite all-time meal. However, it has changed, and not for the better. The noodles are now quite limp and without body and the toppings no longer are tasteful. We are very disappointed and hope the chef returns to his/her previous levels of excellence with this dish."

  • "Lunch was great. We were seated promptly at a window table. Food was good. I had the curry chicken which was good however, it's not traditional curried chicken so a bit off if you are expecting that. The only complaint I'd have is we felt rushed out. Our server didn't bring a dessert menu...just dropped off the check and walked away. Other than that, it was good."

  • "The server was very helpful in answering questions regarding food and how items were prepared, which was very helpful in making our selections. The portions were not huge, but were not small. In fact, it was refreshing to have serving sizes that were actually appropriate...we also had left over food to take home. All of the items we ordered were flavorful and satisfying. Most of our friends/family members rave about eating at Indochine's restaurant. I have found Indochine's to be over priced and poor quality of food. I would definitely recommend Wild Ginger without hesitation, and will be returning soon!"

  • "We have eaten at the Wild Ginger in Seattle and thought we would try the one in Bellevue. It was a nice atmosphere, the service was good but the food was not very good at all. In fact my husband returned his dish, which this may be the first time I have ever seen him do so. Then our after dinner coffee drinks were also really bad, so we returned those, the cream tasted off. We left disappointed with the food. The restaurant of course stilt charged us for everything except the coffee drink."

  • "Been to Wild Ginger many times but this time was not good. Server disappeared on us and was hard to find and first time we had dishes we didn't like. The spice on the lamb chops totally drowned out the flavor of the lamb yet chicken wings didn't have flavor at all. Thank heavens for the reliable stalwarts of the chicken skewers and schezuan beans. Would go back but really hope its back to previous/usual standard next time. Did appreciate server deducting cost of one lamb chop from bill since we didn't eat them."

  • "Normally we love Wild Ginger and it's a reliable night out. This time not so much. For a Wednesday night, it was packed, super loud, and very slow service. 20 minutes to get the wine we ordered, 40 for the food and when it came out, the green curry was cold. Everything was very tasty as always, but this was a very disappointing visit."

  • "We were there a late Friday night. Service was excellent. I always enjoy a fun non alcoholic beverage :) so it was nice to see their "refreshers" list. I had the squash soup and enjoyed it. Hubby had the sweet and sour, I found it too fishy and too "fruity". He didn't like the tamarind after taste. I loved the Mongolian noodles. The white rice was way overcooked. Seven flavor beef was ok. I would like to try it again ."

  • "Whether I have brunch, lunch or dinner, Wild Ginger never disappoints me. The service is always good and the selection of dishes is wonderful. There is something for everyone. It is a great place to share food with a group so you can taste all the wonderful flavors of the dishes. The dim sum brunch is excellent."

  • "The food is good, although on the pricey side and the portions are on the smaller side. Service was very good and the wait staff were knowledgeable about the entire menu. Nice place and the validated parking was a plus."

  • "Been in this restaurant a number of time but my recent visit was quite disappointing. Food got cold very easily and for Asian food it should serve temperature hot not lukewarm."

  • "Friends and went there on Saturday night after a move. The food was wonderful!"

  • "For my most recent visit, I had the Pad Thai for the first time and it is now my favorite item on the menu. I especially like that each time I have gone, they have asked if we have any food allergies."

  • "On a whim we decided to try the Bellevue location. After studying the Asian style menu we decided to eat sharing small plates from the appetizer, daily special and entree offerings. We started with the bacon wrapped oysters and the lamb skewers with peanut sauce. Both were flavorful and juicy and served with a small square of mochi rice. We proceeded to try the spicy clams (comes about 2 stars) and the Chilean sea bass. Both were tasty and next time I'll order the sea bass as an entree. We also tried the ahi tuna with garlic sauce. The warm, galicky sauce overpowered the ahi and made it hard to eat. The wine list was well rounded and competitive with most Bellevue restaurants. The service was excellent. Parking is validated. We'll be back!"

  • "I ordered two vegetable fried rice, one with egg. Two people came to serve food. When I asked which one is with egg! One answered "whichever u ordered" one answered "I have to look into your plate to see which one has egg" . BTW neither of fried rice had egg. I am not paying anyone to show me their attitude. My husband gave tip too even though not worth it. I have been to wild ginger Seattle. Unlike one in bellevue I rate them 5 out of 5 in service."

  • "Used to be one of our favorite restaurants for past 15 - 20 years. Had not eaten there for quite awhile. Current menu has been pared down to fewer and less exotic options. Food quality is not terrible, just more simply prepared and not close to being the "fine dining experience" it used to be. Now seems to be just a glorified Thai restaurant with VERY high prices for the quality you get."

  • "This was our first visit to this restaurant - we will definitely go back again. Arrived a few minutes early, but were seated right away. Had a booth overlooking the lower dining area and kitchen - fun to watch all the activity. Had a great server who was knowledgeable about the menu. Had the signature Ginger martini - it was delicious. Had a couple of starters, then main dish and side vegetables. Everything was well prepared and delicious. Server recommended a nice Italian white blend to have with dinner - we liked it so well that we went out the next day and bought some to have at home."

  • "Great atmosphere. Comfortable, private seating. Family style service fun for a group. Food was delicious --perfect tender crisp vegetable, man-size pot stickers, scrumptious Thai beef. And....the coconut gelato is the bomb!"

  • "We had a lovely time at Wild Ginger on Valentines Day. We had our baby in tow and they were very accommodating with getting her a roll to munch on. We loved the seven flavor beef. Hopefully we will get to return soon. Thanks for a nice evening!"

  • "We made reservations weeks in advance and thought we would be seated at one of the nicer tables. Instead we were taken to the basement level and seated near the hallway entrance of where the servers run in and out, no view, right in a busy spot. We were there at 5.15 when the restaurant wasn't even 30% full... So many empty tables upstairs with views were available. When asked to move to table with a view, the hostess had to check with the desk and then she returned And moved us upstairs right next the bar area another crazy table, asked again if we could be moved to a table by the window since there were many tables unoccupied there. got moved to a table with a view of a parking garage even though there were nicer tables with views open."

  • "We love Asian food and weren't disappointed. The crispy duck wasn't very crispy, but otherwise, the food and service was great. A little loud for my tastes, but we'd come back again."

  • "I was seated with an out of town guest for an early dinner. Took a great while for a waiter to arrive. Waiter was gruff the whole 2.5 hours we were there. Scallops were unsatisfactory (and I've had many excellant scallops in the area this past year). Potstickers appetizer could have come from a microwave and the flavor was bland even with sauce. Dessert menu was not offered. I requested it and the desserts eventually delivered were the one bright spot. I have been a fan of both Seattle's and Bellevue's Wild Ginger restaurants, but with so many great restaurants in the area, one screwup is all it takes to be scratched from my list."
