A word from Ward's House of Prime - Delafield
Collectively, we’ve been in the steakhouse business for as long as you’ve been craving a truly unique dining experience – maybe even longer. At Ward’s House of Prime, we learned what you wanted from a steakhouse and then we designed a restaurant where high-end entrees are served at a reasonable price in an atmosphere that’s upscale yet relaxed.

At our steakhouse, we want you to feel just as comfortable ordering full-plate entrees in the main dining room as you would ordering from the bar menu and watching sports in the lounge. While prime rib is our specialty (served every day), we also give special attention to seafood, chicken, veal and vegetarian entrees as well as our lighter fare of appetizers, sliders and stonefire flatbreads. And we offer a variety of martinis, beers, cocktails and wines by the glass – as well as an extensive list of 500 wines by the bottle, all at a fair price.

  • "Food was awesome, but for a steakhouse, the noise level is too HIGH. When you have to raise your voice to talk to someone sitting right next to you, it's not good. The owner said they had someone in to evaluate acoustics. Good thing. I hope this gets fixed, because that is the only negative thing I could come up with, but sadly it would be enough to keep me from coming back."

  • "My wife has wanting to try Wards and decided this is where she wanted to go for her birthday, so expectations were high. Wards did not disappointment from the friendly greetings from the hostess and prompt seating to our friendly waitress our service was great. Our food from the appetizer, calamari to the soup(lobster bisque) to our main course of prime rib was excellent, done exactly how they were requested , along with delivered at just the right pace.We finished off with some espresso and creme brulee. it was truely a wonderful dining experience and cant wait till our next return"

  • "This was our second time hosting clients at Ward's in Delafield. We have dined at Ward's downtown a number of times. Steaks were good. Salads were sad affairs with little taste or creativity. Sides were passable but nothing to "write home about." Service was fair. We waited over 30 minutes after finishing our meal before being offered desert or coffee while our waiter "gabbed" with a couple at another table. At that point we were the only 2 tables occupied in the upper dining room. We entertain clients frequently and dine out in the area and around the country often. The service issues and the middling non entree items were concerns."

  • "We went to Wards House of Prime to celebrate a few family occasions . I have been to Wards in downtown Milwaukee and it was Outstanding. But the Delafield location did not have the same food quality. Three at our table ordered the 24 oz Prime Rib and all claimed it was tough including myself. The food overall was pretty good but you would think a "House of Prime" would make sure their Prime Rib was the best! It was not. Not sure I will return for Prime Rib again. $44 for a Prime Rib that was less than superior was a big let down."

  • "Other than flatbread appetizer and one of four entrees, meal was a big disappointment. Ribs were undercooked, veal was buried in gravy and tasted more like beef than veal. Waiter was obviously new to role but chef was real culprit. Bummer."

  • "The staff, while friendly and helpful, wasn't as polished as I would expect for a $75/plate (roughly) dinner. Everything was over-cooked - "seared" tuna and scallops were cooked through and a medium well steak was well done. Nothing was really bad, but for the price, I'd rather go to Sanford, Coquette, or Eddie Martini's, all of which offer a more upscale and polished experience. However, this location hasn't been open very long, so they could be working the kinks out. I may have to revisit down the road, but the experience did not live up to the cost. Aside from my experience, it seemed like other diners were having a good time."

  • "We arrived half an hour before our reservation hoping to enjoy a drink with out friends before dinner. The bar is small and although there are quite a few tables in the bar area, they are all reserved for dining. So we had nowhere to sit and relax before dinner with our drinks. The food was very average. The bread/ rolls were dry, the lobster bisque and cream of cauliflower soup were both very bland. The ahi tuna app was ok but the sauce that was with it was so salty. My filet and scallops were good but my husband's and friends prime rib was over cooked. For what the prices are, the food should be amazing not average."

  • "We enjoyed the cozy ambience of the fireplace seating in the upstairs dining room (the downstairs had a large bar and smaller tables and was much noisier). The service was outstanding - we never felt rushed yet we were always attended to. Our food, however, was a bit of a disappointment overall. The bread hot and delicious, but the salads were lettuce only and lacked enough dressing. The sirloin steak was bland and dry. The prime rib, however was very good. The potatoes (1baked, 1 twice baked) were very small. Not a good value for the price. The valet parking attendant was top-notch."

  • "New to Delafield since January 2014. The bar is spacious with TV's everywhere. It is classy, with seating for around 12 at the bar, but the rest of the area is high-top tables for 4 - 8 people. You can drink and eat in the bar if you like to watch sports and be in a higher energy area, otherwise dining is upstairs in more formal elegant setting. Four of us had steaks, all tender as could be and cooked to perfect temperature. Homemade bread was served and delicious and the side of asparagus came our bright green and was tender. Two drinks from an extensive beer and wine list (no beer on tap), along with dinner for four was $235 with tip included. This is a winner of a restaurant. Make a reservation weeks ahead on weekends."

  • "I very trendy remodel makes all the difference in the small town of Delafield. The downstairs bar was sleek and felt like an upscale sports bar while the second floor dining room was very comfortable. The restaurant is known for prime rib so three of us had different cuts of this while the fourth had a rib eye steak. All of us felt that the food was rather ordinary but the service and comfort of the restaurant made up for the food. In the town of Delafield this would be a place to stop in and have a drink and maybe give the restaurant a try. We will."

  • "First time to the new location of this restaurant. We were a small group celebrating a friend's birthday. Everything was excellent, especially the service, but very expensive. I would go back here for dinner only for a special occasion such as an Anniversary. I would, however, go to the bar and try their bar menu which I've heard is excellent and less expensive. Our meal for four people, without drinks or dessert, ran close to $250! Our server was as nice as could be and attentive without hovering. I have a feeling that the bar will become the "hot spot" rather than the restaurant itself, mainly due to the prices. I still think that other steakhouses, such as Eddie Martini's, would be my first choice for steak."

  • "This was our second time here. We sat in the dining room for the first visit. Very nice for conversation with each other. Food was very good. On our second visit we asked to sit in the bar area. It was really loud and hard to carry on a conversation with our group. At times we felt like we had to yell to speak to each other. The food and service were very good and would recommend Wades to my friends and family."

  • "I liked the food but thought the bread basket could be improved 2 good rolls but the TINY loaf of bread left a lot to be desired. What I did not like was how noisy it was. It was hard to have a conversation. For that reason I would not choose to eat there for any Special occasion, above you used the word as far as noise level "energetic". It was plain loud. That being said the food was good, service very good. The atmosphere was nice. It was also a very nice touch to have the manager or owner ask us how things were."

  • "This restaurant has great potential. The interior has been redone from the last restaurant and is very clubby and sophisticated. The one thing not attended to was sound-dampening decorating, as all interior surfaces are still hard, so quite loud. Unfortunately our small town is so starving for new things, I think everyone was there, to the detriment of the experience. Couldn't hear yourself speak, the wait staff could barely maneuver through the crowd in the bar, and the wait for a reserved table was long. Once upstairs, still noisy (again, no sound dampening) but tolerable, and service improved. The food was good. Disappointed in the lobster bisque - a bit flavorless. Scallops with my filet were outstanding."

  • "our party of 4 dined on a very busy Saturday night. Great wait staff tried to make it a good experience, however food was very hit/miss. Steaks were served on large plain plate with no garnish. Sides were Ok. My veal medallions were in thick brown gravy, rather than the light mushrooms sauce. We had a nice talk with Dan Doherty the GM and he acknowledged some "growing pains." We will be back for sure, but be aware that when the restaurant is busy, it is VERY noisy. We welcome a new dining venue to Lake Country."

  • "calamari was great, soup excellent, ambiance was fine but the room was abit noisy. Desert was delightful, and the potatoes with the steak were out of this world. Ironically however the steak was not on par with the best of the best. At the time we got our reservation late at night only medium was available .. but the steak was pink so I'd call it a medium rare .. so it was chewy and tough. - I would recommend the rib-eye rather than the prime rib for folks. Make your reservation about 2 days in advance and make sure it's in the 5-7pm hour - order the steak medium well and check it twice. I think coming early early would be best. Price for a dinner for two approx $130-150"

  • "Recently opened inDelafield, we were excited to give Ward's a try. Complete remodel of the building gave a warm steakhouse feel. The staff that greeted us was friendly and we were seated immediately. Servers were extremely knowledgable about the menu and wine list. I had the prime rib - it was amazing. Very tender prepared exactly to order. Twice baked potato was rocking, horseradish sauce was served with the prime. Our soup was a tomato bisque with smoked gouda - that was amazing too. Hot bread on the table, bussers kept our water glass full. it was our anniversary and a complementary dessert was served. From start to finish our meal was amazing. Highly reccomend this place -it is a new favorite!!"

  • "Phenomenal meal, start to finish. My wife and I will definitely be back. chopped salad and Caesar were excellent. Wife had the Sea Bass, which melted in my mouth. I had the Ribeye, it was excellent. Brussell sprouts which I hate, we're very different and tasty. Wine list was great with recommendations by staff. Cheesecake for dessert was smooth, creamy and very tasty. If you are looking for a cheap steak, go to the mineshaft. If are willing to pay a premium for a more than premium piece of meat, this is the place. Beats the pants off of other local steak places. Staff and owners were very friendly and extremely cordial. We will definitely be returning. They also have a very appealing bar menu. We want to get back soon to check out"
