Diner Reviews
  • "Great food and Great service and Great views. The restaurant is a fabulous place to go for many different occasions."

  • "We booked a table for 12 for a classy upscale bacherlorette. Every one came dressed up in dresses and suits which was perfect for the beautiful view and decor. However when the toasting started and people started to relax we were told to be quiet. Nice place but should not have accepted our reservation if the volume of 12 people was going to be an issue."

  • "While the food was good, the restaurant is dated and downright shabby in some areas. The seats of many of the chairs are ripped, the carpet stained and the overall space needs a total update to be reflective of the interesting food choices. We paid top dollar for our meals in a second rate dining room. I had the paella which was very tasty but there was very little seafood for the price."

  • "We had a much needed date night after having our son. It was a wonderful, peaceful and romantic environment. Food was beyond amazing. Service was fantastic. Highly recommended"

  • "Having been there recently for a business meeting I was impressed with the improvement with the quality of the food and service compare to previous occasions. Thus I suggested to my family to celebrate father's day there this past Sunday. Again the quality of the service and food were a disappointment. Although the overall service and food were all right. I expect above-average quality for both food and service for such a beautiful environment. The clams were not that fresh. What a disappointment."

  • "Was a beautiful view and great service, the food was ok expected a bit better but overall we will be back"

  • "We went here for a birthday celebration as we heard it was one of the fanciest restaurants in town. The view was lovely. The food was great. The service was fantastic. However I was disappointed with the ambiance. The chairs were old and ripped which I wouldn't expect in a "fancy" restaurant and it looks very dated. If it wants to be known as a very nice place to eat it needs an interior update. "

  • "A breakfast gathering of six, enjoyed a wonderful time for this special day. Efron served us with a smile and attention, and the food was delectable , tasty and was enjoyed by all. I would recommend breakfast at Vista 18."

  • "We visited Vista 18 for brunch. While the service wasn't outstanding, the food was great. Was surprised by the tiredness of the decor. "

  • "The food wasn't great. A friend had the rhubarb sampler as dessert. It looked like it was the leftovers from someone else's plate. I had the chocolate sampler and it was very good though The meal was small and ho hum. Prices high. The service inconsistent. Our main waiter was very slow and the place was not busy. They got my side wrong and corrected it but certainly not friendly. Hostess was very nice"

  • "I made a reservation for breakfast meeting with a guest from out of town and we were not disappointed. The food was great (I had the Brie & Salmon Scrambled Eggs) and my guest commented many times about the wonderful views. We requested a table facing the Inner Harbour on our online reservation and we were not disappointed, it was waiting for us when we arrived. Our bill was just over $30.00 for 2 for breakfast, very decent for this great experience."

  • "We had a wonderful romantic anniversary dinner at Vista 18 this week. The view was spectacular, the service was wonderful, and the food was so very good. We are foodies and don't eat anything with pesticides or additives, always eat fresh and local and we found exactly what we were looking for at this restaurant. The Food was organic and deliciously prepared....they even have a water filter so I was able to put my water bottle away, since I am allergic to Chlorine. It was a lovely, relaxing experience."

  • "Excellent service, not rushed, food prepared with care. Great job Vista 18!"

  • "Our server Jason contributed to what was a very nice evening. The views are incredible but his sense of humour - picking up on the vibe at the table immediately - really made the evening. Food was excellent, the kitchen was accommodating of our special request and we had a great time. If we hadn't been going to a show we might still be there! Will definitely be back."

  • "There was no mention that it would be a Brunch buffet on the website, nor when we booked online. There was only a brunch menu online. I abhor buffet dining, even when it's disguised as fine dining with a bit of seafood on ice. I ordered a Grey Goose Martini straight up with olives, I got a vodka on the rocks with olives. Service Irreverent. We had to suggest perhaps we could see a wine list. It was never offered. After that, there were a litany of small things that made it much less than a 3 star experience. Table was left uncleared, silverware replacement was forgotten, all those things that should be paid close attention to when you are being served during a buffet. It's just a view. Poor service, poor food. "

  • "Everything was amazing... We wereso enthralled with the view we barely noticed the 'getting a bit tired' decor and upholstery. Reasonable $$ for breakfast and the view is priceless!"
    Dined on 5/11/2014
  • "I would highly recommend this restaurant as we had a very nice, drawn out dining experience. The view is the best in Victoria and the tenderloin (Chicago Style) was the best I've ever had. I would highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions and memorable events."

  • "The views are spectacular when you first get off the elevator. The draught selection didn't really catch my eye so I had to settle for Blue Buck. I ordered the Prosciutto Wrapped Pork Tenderloin, which was the only thing on the menu that caught my eye. The Butternut Squash Risotto that came with it was interesting. I was expecting a puree of Butternut to be throughout, however, there were chunks of Butternut instead. It may have been the intention of the chef but when I cook Butternut in chunks I make them soft, whereas these had a bit of hardness to them. A little bit undercooked in my opinion, which threw off the Risotto a bit. Paying $28 I was expecting a bigger portion size. Im just happy the waitress brought around 2 servings of bread."

  • "Would recommand for the view, but food was OK (no more) and service pretty mich inexistant. "
    Dined on 4/14/2014
  • "Most entertaining drink list I have ever seen. The drink names are all famous quotes from movies. I ordered extra drinks just based off the names."
    Dined on 4/12/2014
  • "We had the before 6:30 specials and felt we had enjoyed the rich atmosphere and been treated to a fine dining experience for under $50 for 2. I've never tipped so well for such deserved service. No regrets only praise for service and food quality,"

  • "The views here are outstanding. This was a great spot for a gathering of some friends in from Vancouver for the weekend. The menu provides plenty of variety and the prices are very reasonable. Food was fantastic. Highly recommend the West Coast Benny. Service was great. This was the perfect Sunday brunch."

  • "We dined for the first time at Vista 18 to celebrate a birthday. They gave us a great view table and comped the dessert! The meal was delicious, generous portions and excellent service. We'll be back for sure."
    Dined on 4/6/2014
  • "Food was average and portions small. But great ambience and very attentive and knowledgeable serving staff."
    Dined on 3/29/2014
  • "If there was not the spectacular view I would not return. The food was ok; most of us had brunch egg dishes which were fine but my 'salad' was bizarre...I had the Cobb Salad and it was very plain, tasteless and it was missing ingredients. The only reason I didn't complain was because I figured maybe my meal choice was odd for them. The view is worth a visit; just stick to the basics food-wise."

  • "I always love going to Vista 18. The service is always good, it is quiet enough to have a conversation, and watching the lights come up over the harbour is very soothing. You can sit facing 3 directions with different views. They have live music sometimes that is very enjoyable, as well. It is among my favourite 3 restaurants in Victoria."

  • "We didn't know what we were walking into when we booked on OT. We got giddy taking the elevator to the top floor of the hotel, walked out to find live jazz music. We sat in what I'd consider the best seat in the house, corner table with a full view of the water and downtown Victoria. Our service was hands down some of the best we'd ever received (thank you Jason). Excellent cocktails, creative menu, wine pairing was on point, and great conversation with our server. He recommended some excellent cocktail bars and breakfast spots for us to visit during the rest of our stay in Victoria. We not only want to dine here on our stay, but want to stay in the hotel as well! Thank you!"

  • "The 3 course dine around menu was great food for a decent price."
    Dined on 3/1/2014
  • "We had an excellent evening and everyone enjoyed the food, the service and not least the view. We perhaps made a mistake in ordering the coupon $30.00 three course meal, as although the three courses were beautifully done and titillated the taste buds, on returning home everyone felt the need of a snack!"
    Dined on 2/25/2014
  • "The location and service was great as no problems with that. BUT the portions for the price was shocking. For example, order scallops expect a few for $18, But no only 3 pieces for that price. Next visit to Victoria not be going back to this restaurant"

  • "We've been to Vista 18 many times for a variety of occasions. As always, the service and food were excellent. We requested a window table when emailed our reservation and were seated at an incredible corner window table - lots of room - not too close to the table next to us. We'll be back!"

  • "We couldn't help but laugh when our dinner came out. The portion size were ridiculously small. We spent $300 on dinner and ended up going out to eat after we left there as we were starving."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Very good food ambiance and service. A little pricey considering the portion sizes."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "This place is great for a romantic night or business brunch. Brunch menu is fairly affordable. The view is the best in town. Great drinks, amazing food, and casual but respectful service."

  • "It was a group of 6 of us that dined. The service was was very good. Responsive but not overbearing. Food was great and they sure know how to make martini's! I would recommend this place for couples and for groups."
    Dined on 2/15/2014
  • "Great view, atmosphere, and service, but very very poor execution on the food. Even after a replacement entrée was provided, it was evident that the kitchen was unable to execute even the most basic fare. Very very disappointed here (again)."
    Dined on 2/14/2014
  • "Service was excellent, server was quick and knowledgeable about the dishes she recommends. Food was good but could be better. Had the linguine and cornbread. Linguine was very salty and cornbread was more burnt than usual. Cornbread was completely black on one side. Seems like the cook drop the ball this time. Ambience: Nice view of the harbour and down town Victoria Great for: Dinner dates, company function, business lunch/dinner. Will come back but skipping the Linguine and cornbread next time...even though waiter was adamant it was to die for..."

  • "What a great vantage point for dining experience in one of Canada's most beautiful cities. Unique entrees along with a reasonable wine list and friendly staff combine to make this a sure winner."

  • "The menu looked pretty good. I ordered the Fois Gras Brulee. It looked like a creme brulee as you would expect. But it was just a bowl of fois gras. FIVE minutes later the brioche toast arrived. It took about an hour to get appetizers. The filet arrived after another hour. It was about 3oz. - the smallest I have ever seen. It was luke warm. The side of mushrooms varied from cold to warm in different places on the plate. The corn bread was pretty tasty. It seemed like the kitchen was the killer, not the waitress. Would not repeat."

  • "This was my first visit to Vista 18. I really like the views and overall athmosphere of the restaurant. The servers were very nice and friendly, but we had to wait way too long for our food to arrive. The food was very tasty but I find that people who opt for a chicken breast without butter and sauce, don't expect the breast to be greesy and have skin. This is my fault, i should have asked. I will definnitely visit the restaurant again. Should the service prove to be slow again, I will hesitate to make subsequent visits. Sincerely, Zana"
