  • "We found this restaurant near a convenient bus stop at Restaurant Row in Honolulu. Our table was nicely set up, and we liked the food selection. We enjoyed sharing the fried calamari (I love the tentacled pieces!) with a refreshing proseco. Then we were surprised at the size and quality of our main courses. My husband had the whole sea bass - beautifully presented and well cooked, acconpanied by a lovely chardonnay. I had a glass of Medoc which went well with my mini Osso Bucco. A wonderful size for me (I finished all of it!), and it included the marrow bone - a favorite of mine with this dish. We finished off with desserts - apple tart and the semifreddo. Delicious way to finish off a lovely Italian meal - best in Honolulu."

  • "i've noticed in more than one restaurant lately that they are understaffed. The wait staff was great but you felt a little bad for them, like one more on the floor they would have been golden. Recession."

  • "This is my favorite wine restaurant. Chuck Furuya is very knowledgeable and willing to share his knowledge and experience about wines. The staff is always friendly and helpful. The food is very good with lots of new items making it fun and interesting."

  • "Beautiful presentation, very flavorful and everything seemed to converge and melt in your mouth. Service was amazing and the food came out with perfect timing. The atmosphere was very relaxing with murals of French scenery and candle lit tables; a very intimate setting. The wine selection was great. Recommendations: Calamari Ricotta Mushroom Uovo (special) Prawn Ravioli Foie Gras Mac & Cheese Apple Tart Love Vino!"

  • "While on vacation, we found this spot, actually not the easiest to find and never would've found it without OpenTable. The food was great and although it is tapas style, the menu is limited. Nonetheless, the New York steak is arguably the best red meat I've ever eaten."

  • "Outstanding food, wine pairings, service, ambience. Consistently high quality- have never had a bad dish here in all the times Iʻve been here the past 10 years."

  • "An ideal place for wine connoisseurs, this place has wonderful food as well. The mini veal osso buco was just the right amount for me, and oooooh, so tender. The crispy calamari was also very good but a tad oily. Hubby enjoyed his Dungeness crab Ala Chitarra with hand-cut linguine ---- said the noodles tasted like Chinese noodles; and he's Chinese. I think that was a compliment. The wine list was expansive---hey, it's a wine bar. I didn't feel like partaking any wine that night, but we will definitely be back, at which time I will indeed try their wine(s)."

  • "We've eaten at Vino a number of times now -- and have been thoroughly pleased each and every time. The food is phenomenal and the wine list is sensational. Parking is always available and with validation, the cost of parking is not a concern. "

  • "Vino is an amazing find in Restaurant Row. Our waiter was able to find the perfect wine for us despite our uneducated approach to wine. If it tastes good, I drink it. Thus far I've stuck with Moscato but we enjoyed the wine we tried on the waiter's suggestion, including a nice Reisling. Our night started with this amazing service but when the food came, I couldn't believe my senses. We had the "Twin Bridges", a concoction of asparagus with an egg on top. This description doesn't do justice to the amazement that was in my mouth. We followed with a Gnocchi and the steak. I didn't think food could get any better until dessert came. The apple pastry with caramel sauce had my licking my plate and begging for more! Will definitely return here!"

  • "Food is sooooo interesting -- common names but unexpected ingredients and flavors. Scrumptious! Interesting wines -- a carignane blend you don't see often, a zinfandel my husband flipped over, all jammy but not dessert-sweet. All plates are small, tapas style or appetizer size, but are entree-priced. We look forward to going back, but will only go during happy hour when food is half-price at the bar (but not at tables.)"

  • "As usual, Vinos is never a disappointment but a great place for a gathering of Ohana & friends. The Three Cheese Gnocchi was da bomb, the New York Steak was so ono & tender, the Roasted Brussel Sprouts was a surprising delight & the Cheese/Salumi Platter a crowd favorite. My Can't Miss Choice is the Pan Seared Foie Gras. Kudos to the Chef, you made Grandma's night with the Jumbo Pesto Marinated Prawns....she can't wait to come back. It was a special night for our birthday girl, you made it A Night To Remember. Oh yeah, can't forget to mention the wine selections were perfect matches to go with the delicious tapas foods. I look forward in returning in the near future. Mahalo Chuck. "

  • "Food was amazing and the wine selection was very good and reasonable to boot! Chuck Furuya was around to meet and greet and is always a gracious host. Prices are also more than reasonable given the quality of food. Highly recommended by this world traveler who used to live in San Francisco and New York so I know what I'm talking about!"

  • "We had a great time celebrating my birthday at Vino! Service was great (chatting and joking around with master sommelier Chuck Furuya was a BIG bonus!). Absolutely enjoyed everything we ordered: Three Cheese Gnocchi, Veal Osso Buco, Pork Belly, Steamer Clams, Caesar Salad... simply delicious. Also, the recommended red wine flights were perfect pairings for our meal. Highly recommend for small and large groups alike. Thanks for a great night, Vino :)"

  • "Good for when you want quality food and wine. The veggie dishes were outstanding. . . charred broccoli, asparagus. Also, we re-ordered the crispy calamari twice. menu always changing so check out the specials But come here if you enjoy good wine. Owner Chuck helped us pick the perfect one that fit our taste and budget. Very knowledgeable sommelier. First time at Vino's, been to Hiroshi's before. I think Vino was a little more casual atmosphere. It was less formal and less expensive but same owner, same quality service."

  • "We went for Valentine's Day, so it was a set 5 course menu. 4 of the 5 courses were very good. Unfortunately, the Entree was terrible. It was a Pork dish that we were told was prepared Sous Vide. My guess is that they cooked it way too hot for too short of a time, as it was beyond Well Done, and very tough. In addition to that, it was so salty that no other flavor could come through. The wine pairings were excellent, but only paired 3 of the courses. My suggestion would be to offer 2 pairings, 1 that is for the "core" dishes, and 1 that pairs every course. Dinner was $49, and the 3 wine pairing was $15. I would have gladly paid an additional $10 for 2 more pairings."

  • "We went for Valentine's day. They had a set menu with seafood and their normal menu was not available. They were able to accommodate me with steak in place of the seafood. If it wasn't for the substitute I would have not have ate there for this meal. Staff was friendly and there was room at the wine bar while we waited for our table. I would go again to try the everyday menu that they have available."

  • "This is my favorite all-time restaurant. I made reservations before I knew that their Valentines dinner was going to be a Prix Fixe meal. That means that I wasn't going to get my favorite dishes; but I though that I would give it a try for this all important night. We were not disappointed! The food was excellent without being too heavy. We also added the wine pairing. The wine very much complemented the food; and it was wine that we wouldn't normally get at your neighborhood grocery store. Thank you Vino's for making my night perfect."

  • "Did Valentine's day dinner here, thought they handled what can be a chaotic night (especially since V-day was a Friday) extremely well. They clearly put thought into how to present a 'special' and 'romantic' prix-fixe meal that wouldn't back up the kitchen OR feel like it was dished out from a steam-table, at a very modest price ($49). The $15 'wine pairing' that was offered with the meal was also nicely crafted. Service was well-paced, we never sat too long, but never felt rushed. Only off-notes were that unless you asked, they didn't change soiled silverware when changing courses, and they didn't always manage to get the wine pairing to the table at the same time as the course it matched. A good experience overall, would return"

  • "On the night my wife and I visited Vinos they were trying something new by bringing around a cart or tray of food to make selections from. We actually liked the idea of being able to see and make food selections we otherwise may no have tried. The service was excellent and the wine was good as well. We will definitely visit this place again."

  • "We made our reservation one day prior to the birthday dinner for a friend. She cancelled her reservation at another restaurant due to a rude receptionist on the phone. This was an excellent last minute choice and turned out to be an excellent location for us first timers here. Great food at great price. Very nice service as well! Definitely will be back again especially for the best foie gras we've tasted in Hawaii!"

  • "Great service and selection of delicious wines! Also priced just right for a wine bar. Service was great. Just wish the place were a little bigger. We were a little cramped at our 7 seater table. But it's a perfect spot for a romantic dinner for two!"

  • "We had wonderful evening..Chuck and Cheryl , the owners are wonderful..very helpful when deciding on wines...The servers really work together which is a nice quality..Our dinner was fantastic..they have a great ceaser salad and the sea bass was so moist and delicious...my favorite is the kabocha filled ravioli with big tasty shrimp on top.. They have home made bread which is to die for... Parking is always easy, in the lot or on the street so that is so convient... I would highly recommend Vino for any occasion...Aloha..."

  • "We heard about this restaurant from some "wino" friends, who mentioned the Thursday wine tasting format. Although we chose not to participate in the tasting last Thursday (it's $39 each), we did have a delicious dinner and the service was very attentive and friendly. I love to cook, so it's sometimes a challenge to find restaurants that have unique cuisine, but this place really delivered! We'll be back (and tell all our Hawaii friends about it!)."

  • "Food was excellent! Service was lacking at the beginning and at the end of dinner. The waiter did not greet us and offer cocktails or wine to us for more than 10 minutes after being seated and we had to flag him down.. The same thing happened at the end of the meal when we were offered dessert menus and he never came back to take the order for at least 15 minutes and that's a very long time."

  • "Great hospitality from Chuck and Cheryl. The fresh pastas were cooked to perfection paired with exciting sauces. The crusty Italian house made bread was exceptional. The calamari was one of the best I have ever had. Loved the selection of Italian wines by the glass. Chuck is indeed the master! This was our first visit (why did we wait so long???). We will definitely return! Thanks for bringing back wonderful memories of our vacation in Italy. Well done!"

  • "We tried the burata cheese with some fresh baked bread. Amazing! For entree we ordered off the daily specials menu: grilled bellie of lamb with cream of cauliflower and blueberrs, truffled mac and cheese and lobster with corn panacota. I was very disapointed with the lamb. The fat was charred and very bitter, the meat was tough to chew. The truffled mac and cheese, although a great idea, tasted a bit bland. Simple dash of salt and peper would have probably fixed that. The lobster was quite yummy. We had some carrot cake and apple tart for dessert. Delicious! Great wine selection! And the bill didn't break our bank. Great value!"

  • "We went to Vinos partially because of the menu we saw online. We made a reservation three weeks out. When we arrived they gave us a poor table, it was extremely noisy and the menu had changed. We found nothing on the menu that we wanted to order, so we left and went elsewhere."

  • "Outstanding wine and service. Sommelier was extremely knowledgable yet down to earth. Food was a tad uneven--shrimp, clams were great, steak was under-seasoned and fish over-seasoned. Standout was the unusual but delicious broccoli. Great little known wines made it a memorable experience."

  • "This was a wonderful meal, a fair price, and great wine pairings. Without question, Vino has the best wine menu in town and would stand up well even in a much larger city."
