The restaurant demands gourmet prices but delivers mediocre food. Our salmon was dry, the portions were small and the choices limited. There are much better places to be at this price point.

We returned shortly after our first visit back, hardly believing that we'd had such a great meal. This time, we not only had a stellar 3 course meal and excellent wine, but we were offered the table we requested and received outstanding service to boot! If you haven't been lately, give it a whirl. A star in San Rafael.

Well, we went in cranky. We'd loved Vin Antico several years ago and were non-plussed when it re-opened last spring. We asked for one of two tables (in an empty restaurant) and were offered neither. The salads were all right - fresh and interesting, but not over the top. Then the entrees came out and in short order we became believers. The heirloom caprese was fresh and wonderful, with avocado. The pasta was delectable and the vegetables in it were fresh, seasonal and varied. The flat bread was the best we'd ever had. So so good that, though we were stuffed, we ordered the upside down apple cake - superb! Beautiful wine list, wonderful food. Vin Antico is back - AND BETTER! GO GO GO! We will, again and again!

Best meal in Marin in years! From apps to dessert five of us each had something different; from creativity to flavors to portion sizes everything pleased. Service was suberb; knowledgeable, friendly, and not intrusive. No going back to the chef to ask what was gluten-free, she knew the menu inside out. The gluten-free member of our party was extremely happy. We'll be back!

Always enjoy this innovative, non-"gloppy Italian" restaurant with a seasonally-changing menu. This time the amazing roasted brussel sprouts and the luscious spinach gnocchi were the faves at our table. Crab salad was delicate and refreshing. Only quibble was non-food related: we sat at the bar for at least 15 min after our reservation time; a comped glass of wine would have been a nice gesture.

Wonderful, attentive but not over bearing service and amazing food make for a perfect evening. My son said that his sea bass was the best he has ever had. His girlfriend loved her flatbread and I appreciated the extra attention paid to special requests re: everyone's preferences and allergies. My husband liked his pork chop but wasn't as impressed with the fancy side dishes. All in all, the incredible service and great food will have three of the four of us coming back time and time again.

This dinner was my birthday celebration. We enjoyed the menu, the food, the atmosphere and the service, but I was disappointed that the corkage fee was so high. We brought a couple select bottles of wine for the celebration and the corkage came to $40. I was told that a portion of the fee goes to charity which is nice, but I prefer to donate to charities on my own. I will choose a different restaurant the next time I which to share a special bottle of wine with my friends.

We called the restaurant at 6 pm to see if they could accommodate 6 rather than 4 -- our original plan -- at 8 pm and they said yes. When we got there, we had to wait 45 minutes for a table. They should have just said no. Throughout the long wait, they could have offered a glass of wine, or at least water, but they didn't. The good news was that by the time we were seated, it was quieter.

My friend & I dined here for Thanksgiving. I was looking for someplace that served some organic foods. We drove all the way from the peninsula. Our service was good with one exception- she forgot to include butter or oil/vinegar with our bread. Dry toasted bread needs a bit of something fat & yummy. Other than that little slip, everything carried on with ease. I had the sea bass with forbidden rice & veg- most excellent. The tiramisu is made in-house & is to die for. I'll be back with my husband for sure. Two thumbs up.

We love Vin Antico. Food is inventive and delish -- a special treat in San Rafael. You feel like you have crossed the bridge into San Francisco, but don't have the parking or the high costs! We had the brussel sprout small plate and the calamari and clam small plates -- both big enough for 3 to share, plus one more dish! Fun and excellent evening.

Overall, food, service and ambience were outstanding. We really appreciated our server, Alex, who provided very good descriptions of various wines we were perusing. He recommended a great choice such that we ended up ordering two bottles! The duck special was exceptional with alot of flavor. A tad skimpy on the wild mushroom risotto, though. The basil spaghetti was a little too watery, taking away much flavor.

This is a great little place in the heart of San Rafael . It has a nice bar where one or two can sit do dinner too. It is cozy & the tables are small & close together. The food features local & seasonal. Our vegetarian was very happy with the vegetable dish. I loved the steamed clams & fried calamari that had artichokes hidden underneath . Yum. The wine list by the glass had plenty of choices. The decor & ambience are warm & cozy. The service was excellent.

the food was okay this time, but we have had better food there. The wild mushroom pizza needed more salt and the brussel sprouts were fine, but expensive at $12. Way, way, way overpriced. Salad was $12...tiny portion. Glass of wine $14 for perhaps 4 oz, not a drop more. Dinner for 2 with 1 glass of wine and a shared entree and no dessert...$100. Not worth it. Will never go back even though it was organic, local, etc. etc.

The ingredients were inpeccably fresh, as always, but they shine even more brightly, due to thoughtful combinations and terrific technique. Another wonderful meal at Vin Antico! On this visit vegetable-based dishes we ordered (heirloom tomato caprese and several share plates) were particularly delicious, though I am a hard-core carnivore. We usually skip dessert but they had a tiramisu that was heavenly. Service is attentive and tables are always cleared between courses, with fresh plates and flatware. Only quibble is because the tables are spaced closely together, when it is crowded it can be heard not to listen in on your neighbor.

Vin Antico is our favorite Marin restaurant. Flavorful food, the freshest of ingredients and attentive service. We usually start with the baked oysters which are done perfectly.
