The views from the restaurant are beautiful, especially at night.
Price can get up there, especially if you order all three courses (insalate, primi, secondi) and wine, but its worth it for a nice night out. My only complaint, if any, was that it wasn't quite as intimate as I thought it would be. The place was packed and they seat you a litte too close to the next table. Then again it was Friday night so the crowd is to be expected. Definitely nothing to keep me from going back however.

We finally made a reservation and popped in on a Friday night at 7:45. We were seated immediately given a few minutes to look over the wine list, and brought our drinks promptly. A negroni and a glass of Pinot Noir. They were great... We had the carpaccio appetizer which was excellent. We had a few salads which were fantastic, and then our main course. I had the veal cutlets with capers, and my wife the lamp shanks with squash , sweet potato, and risotto... Both were great. the lamb was fall over the bone tender... Every moment was spectacular, from the valet to the cappuccino. The ambiance is spectacular - intimate, quiet enough for conversation, but not frumpy. The server was informed, helpful, honest in his opinions. The food was delicious beyond belief. We split the carbonara as an appetizer and it was rich and flavorful, the noodles obviously home made. The entree selection was outstanding - something for everyone. My water glass was never empty, but I never felt over pampered. It really was the perfect evening. The beauty of the room took my breath away--the balance between authentic looking Italian walls, furniture, and menu balanced with the siting of Nob Hill views coming in and going out, the fresh ingredients, the wonderful flavors--I was really happy finally to come to Venticello. It deserves a new review (by the Chronicle).
