A word from Vallone's
Since it opened in late 2013, Vallone's has quickly become one of Houston's top lunch, dinner, and happy hour destinations.

Tony Vallone's Americana-inspired menu features some of his favorite dishes from the American culinary tradition, from French Onion Soup and the "Tex" — two cheese enchiladas served with a center-cut filet — to Baked Alaska and housemade Cotton Candy (even the vanilla wafers for his banana pudding are baked in-house).

Of course, Tony's signature pastas and the 55-day-aged steaks are also stars of the show in his cozy, fireplace-lit dining room.

When I reached for the decanter to refill our wine glasees, I thought our waiter was going to break his neck to reach our table quickly to make the pour for us. That did not cause him to keep a closer eye, as I consistently had to perform that function."

Delicious food with lots of price point options. Order the cauliflower. Was even tastier the next day as a take home treat, believe it or not. Gorgeous setting. One of the best Old-Fashioneds I've ever had the pleasure of enjoying. Will fast become a new fave."

  • "I recently enjoyed lunch with a friend at Vallones. We opted for the two course lunch for $18. My arugula salad and my salmon entree were both delicious! My friend raved about the mushroom soup and the steak salad. Service was attentive and prompt. The restaurant was busy, but not too noisy. Lovely place to chat over lunch. I can't wait to go for dinner!"

  • "This was our first time. As it was Sunday there were few tables occupied during our visit. We had well-prepared martinis to start, followed by salads. Vallone's interpretation of the wedge was interesting: a small cup-like bed of lettuce filled with diced veggies and the sauce. Unique, tasty, but probably not worth the $10 price tag. The Summer Salad was delightful. We both had rare steaks - a filet and a ribeye - done properly, along with a Brussel sprout side that was rich and flavorful. Coconut cake was our dessert. Price aside, it would be hard to find any fault with the food and its prep. Our waitress and the staff were friendly and accommodating. This is just what you want for a special night out: no hassles, just enjoyment."

  • "This was my second visit. First time was lunch which was excellent. I had the salmon with creamed squash. My husband and I went for dinner. We were hoping the Caesar salad would be from scratch. It was the usual creamy bottled dressing with too much cheese. No anchovies to be found! The filet was tender, but had too much salt. The glazed cauliflower was delicious. The sourdough bread warm and crispy. The noise level was good, which is a big plus these days. All and all the restaurant was great. We would go again."

  • "Our meal and service was excellent. A small freshly baked sourdough loaf is brought to the table which is delicious. We both ordered the 8oz filet mignon and the brussel sprouts and the truffle mac and cheese to share as sides. Everything was excellent. The steaks were cooked perfectly and truly were some of the best we've eaten in Houston. The side dishes were also outstanding. The wine list is also exceptional. The only downfall is the ambience. At 8:30 on a Friday night the restaurant was barely half full and the lighting was just too bright. I'm not sure how the ambience can be corrected - it's almost as if the ceilings are too soaring..."

  • "The food and service exceeded my expectations. So much thought went into this fabulous place from the ambiance, decor, menu, service, etc. A steakhouse but so much more. Unique tastes and food pairings. The special cocktail menu had some awesome drinks. Extremely attentive service and our server Gigi was amazing. The Tex was an unusual pairing with a filet and cheese enchiladas. Fantastic. The steaks were seasoned to perfection and melt in your mouth perfect. This place is about quality uniquely prepared food with sufficient portions. The green beans with sherry were a treat and the seabass was a great selection. Save room for the lemon merengue pie -not too sweet!"

  • "We do not live in the area but were going to be out that way and had heard great things about Vallone's. Glad we reserved a table. There were two of us and we had a filet and the cheesy potato's. We drank cocktails. They had a great selection of liquor. The Velvet Revolver (vodka) cocktail was refreshing. The service was great. I loved our food, the meat was cooked to perfection."

  • "We've heard that they had some problems at start up when their chef bugged out on them right before Valentine's Day so some people's view may be skewed because of that. However, we've had nothing but excellent meals and service here no matter if it's dinner, lunch or happy hour. We recently had a leisurely lunch with friends and it was great to not feel rushed. Both the wives had different kinds of salads that they really enjoyed and were ample in size. My friend and I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and it was perfect and quite filling for a luncheon meal. It's also a great bargain at around $10. We've been visiting Vallone's about once a week and plan on visiting often in the future."

When we go there the hostess had not paid any attention to our request for table location to be away from doors or waiter stands and took us to a table right near a waiter stand even though many other tables were available. Upon being directed she sat us at another table. The waitstaff in general seemed bored and uninterested in their jobs and went about them robotically. The food was unremarkable and unimaginatively presented but very expensive."

  • "This newest Vallone's restaurant is truly supurb. The restaurnt's design, layout and decor are very warm and welcoming. And, then there's the food and service, which Vallone's takes to another level. The menu is fantastic! The lump crab meat appetizer and kale salad were scrumptous. Our steaks were sublime, wonderfuly flavorfula and perfectly cooked. The service is also "just right." Alfonso was there when we needed him, but otherwise left us to enjhoy our anniversary dinner. Chuck made a great impression; he's welcoming, gracious and knowledgeable. Three cheers for Vallone's food, service and ambiance! "

Husband came back & brought important clients soon after. Mostly recently brought a good friend in for dinner. Drinks are incredible. Service staff is impeccable. The food & desserts are to die for. Can't wait for next occasion to return. Anything Tony Vallone touches is a have to go there place. You know the service & food will always be top notch."

  • "This restaurant is not up to Tony Vallone's usual standards. I have eaten there three times since they opened. The décor and atmosphere are fine but the food and the service are just not quite up to what you come to expect at a Vallone restaurant. It definitely is not one of the city's elite. I also noticed one of the guests dressed in shorts and tennis shoes in an otherwise well dressed clientele. I really don't care to sit next to some slouch while eating a $50.00 steak. It just kind of ruins the moment. Three stars are the most it rates."

  • "My mom, Houstonian gone Dallasite, was in town & we wanted to treat her to a special dinner for Mother's Day. For such occasions we usually go to Brennan's, but we heard Vallone's had a good steak menu, so we decided to try it out. It was just that...good. The servings sizes were so large they disgusted me a bit. We took some food home, but I'd rather eat a smaller, less pricey meal at the restaurant than pay more to end up with leftovers. While we enjoyed the knowledgeable waitstaff & steaks, it was no Brennan's. Offer smaller portions at a corresponding price with improved flavor & we will be glad to give Vallone's another try! However, I picked up the southern fried chicken salad for lunch a few weeks ago & loved that! Great bread too:)"

  • "Great food but disappointing service. Highly inexperienced waitstaff always serving wrong entrée to wrong guest, asking who ordered what, food a little off-temp. No asking whether we wanted any sides to accompany the main dishes, etc. Drinks took forever. Ordering a glass of house merlot or cab resulted in a ten minute wait after which the server would bring the bottle and require a tasting, then proceed to serve - way too complicated and lengthy for house wine. Head waiter/manager seemed overwhelmed - sweaty, even though restaurant was not half full. Overall, very nice décor and ambiance. Will be a nice place once the service gets up to par...."

  • "We had been here a couple of times before for a group luncheon and my wife and a friend had been here for lunch before and had enjoyed everything that we had ordered. However, Mother's Day lunch was even better though we don't know how that was possible. My wife had the wedge salad to start with blue cheese dressing and chunky has bits on the top. I had the tuna tartare to start and it was the best tuna I have ever tasted. I had the simply grilled red snapper which was large and perfectly grilled. My wife ordered the crab cake benedict which she loved. Service was excellent and the meal was served hot the way it should be. We're sorry that some other reviewers do not seem to have a great experience here - we certainly have!"

  • "The occasion was a Saturday evening dinner out in celebration of Mother's Day because Mom had a plane to catch Sunday. We had been looking for an opportunity to try Vallone's restaurant on I-10 and Gessner. Tony Vallone's reputation as a "restauranteur" is impeccable so we were a little surprised to find some of the early reviews on this newest offering were only 3 stars, but we decided to see for ourselves. Our review is a unanimous "easy 4 star" if not a five. Our daughter ordered the small filet mignon with a side of "mac n cheese with truffle sauce", Mom had the grilled snapper and I had the lamb chops. We topped off the meal with a shared slice of "mile high" lemon meringue pie. All the food was delicious and the service was great!"

  • "We were not super impressed by the design of the bar area here... Very narrow and hard to hang out in as people have to walk through it to get to the restroom. One of the bartenders was less than friendly, and the photo of a yummy looking martini with a grilled pineapple on top which was on the shiny ad in my mailbox and got me to try Vallones was not on the limited coctail menu. Dinner was better, filets and pork osso bucco quite good. Service so so. Some great deals on some good wines, fun cotton candy dessert for birthdays and anniversaries! "

  • "My wife and I decided on Vallone's for our 15th Anniversary dinner. Reservations at 7:15, we arrived at 7:15 and were promptly seated at a table close to the center of the restaurant, which was half full at the time. There were plenty of busboys, waiters, a wine steward and a manager on the floor, but no one ever approached our table. We continued to watch and wait as two busboys started to take apart one of the tables next to us, watching as the wine steward AND manager approached the table in front of the fireplace to check on them, but still no water or greeting. After 15 minutes, still nothing, left and went to Kuu Sushi where we had an awesome dinner. As we walked out the door, several employees told us to have a nice night!!!"
