Diner Reviews
  • "I took hubby here for his birthday. The food is to die for! We started w/Empanadas (spinach/ricotta & humita/queso fresco), which I'd highly recommend. Also had Cebiche (Rocotto mixto/yellowtail/scallops/white shrimp/squid, rocotto pepper/camote chips), which we just could not get enough of. For dinner, he had the pan-roasted australian lamb rack w/madeira wine sauce, roasted potato & sweet baby carrots) probably the best I've ever tasted. I had the wood-fired Rib Eye served w/3 sauces: chimichurri Norteño, salsa Mia & salsa criolla, cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the Crepes de Dulce de Leche, which is probably one of my favorite desserts ever. This is definitely a MUST TO-TO restaurant! :)"

  • "Ushuaia is my favorite neighborhood place for dining and entertaining friends and visitors. The menu selections are interesting and delicious. I recommend this restaurant to those interested in finding uncommon food dishes."

  • "You would think this place will be excellent for steak - but it is much more than that! We always start with "Duo Patagonia" appetizer, which is the best shrimp & scallop appetizer anywhere. The Cazuela is amazing - it is in the genre of Cioppino or Bouillabaisse and is very, very good. The steaks come with several sauces including excellent chimichurri. Great frites provencal. Located at the former site of Dragos, Ushuaia has been a worthy newcomer to that location. Oh, I should add that they make a great paella too. Excellent service as well, and a nice selection of wines from Mendoza."

  • "We had 4 people in our party. Started with Carpaccio with 4 cucumber martinis(these are great). After rib-eye steak and some side dishes with bottle of malbec(Humberto). Ended with a desert and a glass of port wine(Quinta do Noval). Everything looks great and tastes delicious. You would definitely leave this restaurant satisfied. If it wasn't a little expensive, I would go there every day (bill was $116 each with tips)."

  • "We had a very good meal and will return. We had a couple who said it was terrible. Everyone else said it was worth returning. We certainly enjoyed everything about the evening."

  • "The food was ok. Simple steak, compare to the choices you have in SANTA MONICA.The design and ambience of the restaurant was boring . friendly and nice staff. I will not go back to this restaurant for sure."

  • "This was a second option as my first was not available for Restaurant Week but I'm so glad I gave it a chance. The food was outstanding; the service was a bit slow but each dish was worth the wait. I would definitely return."

  • "The restaurant accomodated our request for a quiet table, which turned out to be a important since it was bustling with business. The DINE LA menu was terrific and each entree was delicious. We will return!"

  • "Went this past Saturday with foodie friends (we've been participating in dineLa every six months for the last 3 years) first Argentine Steakhouse. We all ordered the highly rated Empanadas, beef and spinach, were very good. Two of my friends ordered off the dineLa menu and had the skirt steak, both thought it was great, perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The other two of us ordered off menu, had the Malbec Steak. Loved it, it was well cooked (had it medium rare) and juicy. The sides however, (mash potatoes and baby green beans) just ok. The mash potatoes had no flavor limp, flat, green bean nothing special. Took away for the experience. A meal sure have flavor throughout each entrée item. Service was great.. Would visit again."

  • "Service was terrific..not intrusive yet attentive! Our waiter Dennis had spot on suggestions, and he poured the wine very sparingly and not too often. Do not favor the $25 corkage and wonder if that is necessary! Sole with kalamata olives and capers , skirt steak remarkable. We shared a salad and it was very adequate portion wise and delicious Spring Mix with great balsamic dressing. Anniversary ice cream with candle brought to table. Easy to talk over dinner! Just a delicious and delightful experience."

  • "Decent food and beautiful presentation but my "Chilean" Seabass was not Chilean Seabass - I would have ordered it regardless but you lose credibility with bait and switch. Service was slow too. The waiter promised bread and 10 minutes later, I asked him for it. He told me that they were heating up the bread and that was why it hadn't arrived. A few minutes later, I got cold bread - not a big deal but rather than lie to me, just go get it. When we asked for coffee, the waiter forgot, never brought it and put it on our bill. When I had him take it off the bill, he did bring it anyway, but blamed the busperson."

  • "Group of 6 of us decided to check it out for dineLA. Decent portions, but wasnt full at all. Its good quality food though. The corn, bacon side dish is very good for your money. The rib eye is rated 7/10. It's on the cheaper end, but the taste is also a lil cheaper. The Argentinean skirt steak has good flavor, but they cooked it medium well when I asked for medium rare. Service is 9/10. Had a hard time flagging the server a couple of times."

  • "This restaurant has become our go-to place for steak. The service is attentive, the food delicious. The appetizer menu is very interesting - worth ordering a couple of things to share a new taste experience. Nice selection of wines that pair well with the food. Even non meat eaters will find something here - good fish and salads"

  • "Will definitely come again and try various other dishes. All courses were amazing but desserts were heavenly. I can definitely go back just for dessert."

  • "Skirt steak was delicious. Malbec sauce was too bold, the meat was slightly gamey. Lamb was gamey. We were a group of 6 and tried variety of entrees. I loved their empanadas, white sangrias and crepes duce De leche. I will come back for their happy hour,m-f."

  • "This was my first Dine LA experience ever. The food here was outstanding. The waitress was incredibly prompt with service requests and such. The entrana skirt steak is a must try! The ambiance was very warm and great for a date night, or a classier evening meal. I stuffed myself silly but it was worth it."

  • "The whole crew was great everyone upbeat and welcoming. Waitress was very helpful, she knew all the details and answered my questions clearly. Everything we tried was very good, the macaroni and cheese was a little rich for me but obviously high quality ingredients. My Bife Chorizo (NY Steak) was very good and very well prepared. I ate the whole thing. Definitely recommend. For me, I still prefer the American old school steakhouse experience (Dal Rae, Taylor's) but this place is a great option and I really hope they succeed - very nice people and great food. My only suggestion, for those like me it would be great to be able to get a baked potato."

  • "The menu had something for everyone in our party of 8!! The strip steaks were outstanding and the filet of sole was delicious. The veggies accompanying the entrees were cooked perfectly and the variety was amazing. The French fries were the best ever!!! Portions were generous enough to share. Service could have been a bit more efficient as there were only 2 other tables occupied at the time. Bus boys did not know where to place the food. Dressings on the side had to be asked for a second time. But, we will all return."

  • "We enjoyed a really good (not too sweet) house made sangria, and our server suggested a salad to share for 3 of us (instead of one salad per person which was more than we wanted). Skirt steak was flavorful, as was the paella and the salmon was also quite good. With friendly service and good food, this was a very enjoyable evening out."

  • "We eat there a lot & have always been very happy, but 4 of us found this meal to be terrible. Asked for food to be no salt, they ignored that & oversalted it. Meat was chewy, tastless and disappointing. Vege's were overcooked & versalted. New owners/chef? Place was empty, so maybe others know what we didn't. This seems to have gone from being a favorite hot spot to being out of favor (and flavor). If so, it will close soon which is too bad since it was so good until this recent visit. While servers were attentive, the fact that they didn't convey our requests on various dishes (no salt, dressing on the side, etc.) to the kitchen dragged down the service rating. Need to get their act together or give it up."

  • "We tried it for the first time & were really impressed, the food is great, the servers attentive without smothering you. We made reservations at 6:30 for 7pm on a Saturday without problem. We were seated immediately upon arrival, it was full but not packed. By the time we finished dinner it was at capacity and the tables are pretty close to each other. Any possibility for conversation was lost, just too loud, so go before 6pm to avoid the noise. We split a salad to start and it was more than plenty for us. I had Flat Iron Steak (Churassco al Malbec) based on reviews and they were right, it was delicious, very well prepared. My date had the salmon and was very impressed. The crepes for dessert were yummy! I say 2 thumbs up!"

  • "Hadn't been here to over a year - last experience was Valentine's Day 2013 - not a great experience. Had out of town visitors and decided to try it again and glad we did. The food was outstanding, the service great and the corkage reasonable. Definitely glad for the return visit and will be back again soon."

  • "The food is great but the service does not match this quality. We found on their web site about the happy hour, with tapas till 6.30; so we arrived early for dinner, wanting to enjoy tapas at our table. However, we were told that tapas were only served at the bar and there was no way to have them at our table. If we wanted to have tapas we had to move to the bar, after we were already seated. I found this not only hard to understand but also rude . There will not be a second visit to Ushuaia for us."
