Urban SolaceGreat Neighborhood SpotWe took our daughter for a special dinner to celebrate her graduation from college. Loved everything about our experience.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat appetizers, HUGE portions! We ordered the yellowtail tartar and the cheesy biscuits, both were exceptional. Loved the heat in the tartar, and the roasted tomato jam for the biscuits. Hubby ordered chicken pot pie as entree, i didn't try it but i think he says it's ok. I ordered the braised beef cheek. The mashed sweet potato was very tasty, the beef cheek was very very tender and huge! But the beef cheek lacked seasoning...all the flavor was in the sauce, which i think i only got a spoonful. Not enough for the huge chunk of cheek, so i had to ask for more. We had the warm berry buttermilk cake for dessert. The dessert selection was a little disappointing. If i wasn't craving something sweet, i would've skipped.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDinner for 8Had reservations for a group of eight and I couldn't have been more pleased with the overall experience. Only one of our couples had been to this restaurant before and after dining here I think we'll ALL recommend it to our friends. From cocktails and apps to entrees everything looked and tasted great.5/17/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat as alwaysGreat good and great service as always. Highly recommended for lunch or for dinner.5/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMother's Day dinnerService was excellent, our table was waiting! Food was great !!!!!!
Love Urban Solace!!! Mike and Robin Mitchell, North Park5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMExceptional ExperienceThe entire team at Urban Solace was outstanding....My wife and I were treated like VIP's all evening. We were greeted by Erica shorlty after sitting down and she amazed us with her exceptional attitude ,her knowledge of the products and every item on the menu and her desire to make our first visit memorable. We truly enjoyed every item we selected for our dinner from the albacore tuna appetizer, mustard crusted sea bass, chicken dumplings and this decadent dessert that Erica highly recommended. The atmosphere was electric. Our experience was extremely memorable and we had a blast. Can't wait until our next visit with Erica and the rest of the exceptional team at Urban Solace...5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMWhat a nice find.We just love the fact that San Diego's restaurant selection is improving so fast. This is just another example. Because of our weather we have so many farms in close to the city and dining establishments that take advantage of that are tops on our lists. Great food and great service made my Wife's Birthday a very special one. Thanks soooo much!5/9/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food and great drinksOverall it was great, great food and great drinks.
Only thing that I would say needs improvement is service, we did
Not see our waitress for over 15min but someone did help us,
not sure if she was busting tables or what but I hope she was the one that got our tip not the waitress.5/8/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat Date SpotThis place was great for a recent date I had. Amazing entrees and the outdoor setting was very cool. Has a New Orleans vibe to it which was real cool. Will definitely try there again5/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful MenuTwo of our group of 5 were very late arriving, but there was no attitude or push from the wait staff and even though we started eating a half hour late, we were still able to be served and get to our AMSD show on time. The food was superior and delightfully tasty.5/5/2013 12:00:00 AManniversary dinnerwhen we first arrived at our table was a little cramps because we were squeezing between two other groups
Erica our server helped to recommend that we move to another quiet more intimate place
the food was fast, delicious and very creative.
we came here on our anniversary and had a very memorable might5/5/2013 12:00:00 AMSUN DiegoFood was outstanding. Overall ambiance was nice. General manager was very attentive and friendly. Took too long to get our initial drinks (and bar was pretty much empty at the time). Forgot one dessert, not a big deal and fixed it super fast. Biggest problem which has an easy fix: we sat on the patio b/c it was another gorgeous San Diego day, but as the sun set, it was unbearable. It would not be hard to put up some sort of retractable shade.5/2/2013 12:00:00 AMWe had a lovely evening andWe had a lovely evening and our food was excellent...especially the 'pork belly' dish.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe staff was very friendlyThe staff was very friendly and accommodating. Others had the chicken & dumplings (loved it) and the arugula salad (perfect)! We started with a cheese board. Our server helped with the selections: Mouco Colorouge, Big John's Cajun and Big Rock Blue. They were all terrific. Great service. Easy street parking. If U Wear Hearing Aides You May Want To Turn Way Down Or Off, Hard Surface Acoustics4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMmagnificent meal in friendly placeThe charcuterie is impeccable, flexible and delicious. The people really know food and how to prepare, serve and deliver it. We had the Duck Confit and the Porkbelly with grits, and uncharacteristically, neither of us was willing to share, it was that good. If you're lucky enough to get there before they realize how much they should charge for the Steltzner cabernet blend (they still get bottles of the 2007!) get as much of it as you can.
Thanks for a magnificent meal in a friendly place with really good staff.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMOne of San Diego's BestSuperb menu and food. Real attention to healthy ingredients. Saturday night crowd made it noisier than my hearing aids can comfortably tolerate. I'll return during the week. Great find.4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMScrumptious!Fantastic and nothing less. Food and wine = scrumptious!4/19/2013 12:00:00 AMUrban Solace never fails toUrban Solace never fails to disappoint. It's a great spot in North Park where you can always count on an excellent meal and afternoon/evening out.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was simple and veryThe food was simple and very good. I had the shrimp and grits appetizer. Yum! Also soup and salad. My friend had the grilled cheese and soup and her sandwich looks very good. They were out of the Cote du Rhone that I really wanted, but the Zinfandel was good, but a little pricey for such a short pour. ($9.50 for maybe 4 oz)4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the delicious, contemporaryLoved the delicious, contemporary take on "comfort food" and had some other nice options to spice things up.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMIt was truely a wonderfullIt was truely a wonderfull experience. The staff was excellent, they all came by to say hello and congratulations on our anniversary. The food was the star, It was the best meal have ever eaten. We will be back very soon.
We are also looking forward to Solace @ moonlight Beach.Encinitas is my home town, and I'm dying to check it out.4/5/2013 12:00:00 AMTuesday, 8p in AprilIt's no wonder this place is rated so highly all over the internet. My second time having their food, my first dining in... I savored every morsel. My previous meal from Urban Solace was their watermelon salad, which was unavailable second time around because it's a salad they keep seasonal... they were just "waiting for the watermelons to be really good" before bringing it back. But the 'warm spinach with bacon lardon' was a tasty (and induglent) salad. Also, these mussels should have bragging rights in SD county. So delicious, with deep, unique potato-bacon flavor. Loved the two pints of brown sugar brown ale (Acoustic Ale). The Paso Grass burger with tomato jam was pretty decent (though not an excellent burger).4/2/2013 12:00:00 AMLove this place! This isLove this place! This is definately my current favorite place to dine! Love their gluten free menu, appetizers and wine list! Met the owner on my last visit. Was very kind and welcoming. Personally know the manager who greets us every visit. Bartenders talk just enough, not too chatty, and listen more. They aren't pushy with their drinks either, especially since I like to "pace" myself. Staff is amazingly on top of things no matter how busy they get. We always look forward to an incredible dining experience whenever we come.4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMNoise was moderate to my ears,Noise was moderate to my ears, but we had someone with a hearing problem at our table and it was difficult for her to hear.
Our server was fabulous!3/31/2013 12:00:00 AMMy girlfriend and I had aMy girlfriend and I had a wonderful experience at Urban Solace. We were very welcoming greeted when we arrived. At 4:45 there wasn't that many people there but wait another half hour and BaM! there's a flood of people. Everything was great and very enjoyable. Expecting to make frequent visits.3/30/2013 12:00:00 AMUrban Solace Still First ClassMy wife and I ate at Urban Solace Friday night and enjoyed the experience very much. We started with a glass of wine each and shared an appetizer order of mussels which was outstanding. Mussel preparation seems to me to be either perfect or a disaster, with no gray area in between. The chef was on target Friday night.
For our entrees I had the salmon and my wife had the hamburger.
My salmon was outstanding and perfectly cooked. It was served on a bed of quiona (spelling?) which was almost exactly tasteless. The one culinary downer of the evening.
The hamburger and fries were great. Order the chocolate caramel for dessert. We'll be back and the food was definitely worth the trip.3/29/2013 12:00:00 AMAmazing all around. The blendAmazing all around. The blend of flavors in the dishes are incredible.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMOutstanding food. Very noisy-detrOutstanding food.
Very noisy-detracted from the otherwise delightful dining experience.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMStick to the turf and not the surfI love Urban Solace, I have been here many times. I should just stick to my beef cheeks, meat loaf, dumplings, and dukaroni. Every time I order seafood at Urban Solace I'm not impressed. I had the mustard crusted sea bass and for me the mustard was too overpowering. The farro was quite good but I had to scrape the mustard off the fish. The roasted squash, goat cheese and roasted garlic dip is heaven. I could have ate a gallon of that stuff. I won't give up on this place because everything else is sooooo good. I'll just stick to what I know is good for now on.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMBest Food in North Park! This restaurant was fabulous! We had reservations and were seated quickly. The wait staff were amazingly friendly and knew so much about the food and how it was prepared. We ordered all vegetarian dishes and each was more delicious than the next! Wonderful experience!3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMexcellent every time.Excellent again. Another neat Server, Tony. Very talented Chef.3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMAll around memorable. We are only sorry it has been going for so long and we never stopped in before this week for our wedding anniversary. The meal was very special. We have dined in many countries and cities. The dinner we had here ranked up with any of the best in satisfaction. Of course, Le Grenadin and La Grenouille in Manhattan and Addison in Del Mar were all memorable, but this place is just perfect for us. Great chef, nice scene and very personable wait staff. Erica was just tops. We may return tonight before theatre. Great find at last.3/19/2013 12:00:00 AMMy dad was in town and I wantedMy dad was in town and I wanted to take him somewhere special. So I went on Chefs Feed and looked up places with multiple chef recommendations. Urban Solace totally did not disappoint! We went for dinner, but would like to return for brunch.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI had heard some amazing thingsI had heard some amazing things prior to going to the restaurant and it definitely lived up to the reputation. We had an appetizer, entree and a delicious dessert as well. Each part of the meal was amazing. I can rave about the chocolate ganache dessert. The caramel and the sea salt made for a perfect end to the meal.
The service was very nice and very attentive. But they spoke in a whisper. I would love to go there and try out their brunch! The patio is beautiful and I was sad it was too cold to eat outside when I was there.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMOur waitress Lindsay was fantastic. Our waitress Lindsay was fantastic. This was our first time here, and we'll certainly be back.1/19/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat north park findWe went to this restaurant because it was close to birch theater. It was terrific. The tomato fennel soup was the best tomato soup we have ever had, and their cheese biscuits are to de for. We had the salmon with quinoa and it was very good although just bit dry. The portions are huge. The key lime pie was fabulous. Their wine lst is extensive although I noticed most people brought their wine for a minimal $15 corkage fee. We will definitely go again.1/11/2013 12:00:00 AMUrban Solace has done it again!Urban Solace has done it again!
