We have eaten at Union League many times. Our experience this time was a little off, probably because they are remodeling and had to locate their restaurant to the upstairs ballroom. Little things were missing. They always serve a fabulous cosmo in the shaker and pour at the table. Not this time. They always have excellent decaf English Breakfast tea which is brewed loose in a pot. This time, they said they had it, but then had no decaf black tea at all. The food was definitely good, but not to their usual standard. Finally, the dining room felt very tight. The tables were just too close together; we could hear every word of every conversation that our neighbors were saying, and our waiter had a hard time even reaching to our table.

This restaurant never disappoints. Food was delicious and expertly prepared. The beverage service was slow for the capacity that night.

First of all we didn’t realize the beautiful main dining room was closed That was the beginning of a poor night and my wife’s chicken was like a frozen dinner The wait staff wasn’t the regulars and very unskilled And the patrons which usually dress up somewhat, many folks were wearing shorts and t shirts Grade D.

Even though we dined upstairs (due to renovations in the main dining room), the experience, ambience, service and food were exceptional as always.

This was an outstanding dinner--all three courses. The birthday boy is a fan of Coquilles St. Jacques, which the chef offers on Tuesdays. Nevertheless, he made them for our celebrant's Thursday, June 5th birthday. On the hottest day of the year, so far, the Raspberry Lemon Pavlova's meringue shell was light and crisp; inside the raspberry sorbet was so cold and tart it effervesced on the tongue. Despite being a chocolate lover, this pavlova is the best dessert I've ever tasted.
