Diner Reviews
  • "Terrific value! Interesting menu. Excellent ingredients, well prepared, nicely cooked, served promptly (and still hot). Very good malbec by the glass. Courteous, efficient service."

  • "Good place to go at this time. Good service. Arctic char on the fixe prix menu worth having but adding a rice or potato to the plate would have been nice. Salad excellent. We asked for a particular wine and got the most costly one, not the house offering as we'd expected so this needs to stated clearly when ordering."

  • "My friend and I chose tundra because it's so close to the four seasons theatre. The service was very pleasant but quite slow. The food was nicely presented but incredibly bland. Soup was tasteless and the salad was fresh but too vinegary. Convenient but disappointing"

  • "Was here for winterlicious with 2 friends on a Monday night. Atmosphere and service was excellent. We were seated without any wait. Food was decent. I had the Salmon and was happy to find it wasn't dry, my friends ordered the steak but didn't find it exceptional. Overall I had a good time there."

  • "Went for winterlicious - the food was OK at best. 4 steaks were all over cooked (1 well done, 2 medium and 1 medium-rare all came out well-done) and were quite tough. For $45 menu, expected slightly better quality. Would not return for a meal here again."

  • "My husband and I dined here before heading to the Opera and we cannot say enough about this restaurant. We were greeted enthusiastically as soon as we walked in. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable on the menu and wine list. The food was served hot and in good time. Every course was delectable."

  • "We went to Tundra for a birthday celebration and it couldn't have been a better choice. The food was excellent and the service attentive. They also did something special for the birthday person without any asking on our part. I would recommend the restaurant and intend to return."

  • "Food Good. Pre-theatre, so small portions. Could be more generous. Service brusque to the point of rudeness"

  • "Our expectations of meals at upper-end mainstream hotel chains is"pretty good." What the Tundra offers is actually excellent food, with waiters who get the help you ask roe in wines, with service that is attentive and never hurried, with food that is delicious and beautifully served (my trout, my partner's game hen). Menu doesn't meet vegan needs, but wait staff very helpful in making it happen, I think."

  • "It is easy to forget that you are in the lobby of a hotel once you are seated in the restaurant, as it is suitably screened from the reception area. The high ceiling makes it feel spacious, yet quiet. The decor is modern and comfortable, with trendy table runners doubling as placemats. The menu is a bit pricey, and the portions rather small, but the food is beautifully presented. The Winterlicious trio was good value and very satisfying (squash soup, seared trout, cheesecake). My dining companion had a lovely open faced sandwich, with a disappointing side of potato chips. The service was attentive without being intrusive. This is a suitable spot for an unimportant business lunch."

  • "The food was great. However, the service for lunch was too slow and very inappropriate communication by the servicer. We had to keep asking for water glasses to be filled."
    Dined on 2/10/2014
  • "How do you feel when the waiter does not the wine list that contains just a small list. How do feel when the service is more preoccupied to set the next table (a big table)... Terrible services the calamari feel like rubber . a night to forget..."

  • "The food and services at Tundra are always good. Never fair. Great restuarant."

  • "Everything was excellent, I had made an error with my booking the staff were very professional and still accommodated us."

  • "My husband and I went to the restaurant as part of the Winterlicious promotion. The food was outstanding and the service was very good. However, what really annoyed us was that we were not provided the information when we came in that the restaurant did not have debit; we were just informed when we received out bill. Luckily, I had my credit card on me, but what if I had not had it one me; then we would not have been able to pay for our meal as my husband and I did not have enough cash on us. My suggestion would be to simply have a sign at the front, indicating what the restaurant accepts as payment OR ensure that your servers advice the guest the moment they sit; that way guests can get cash if required."

  • "Had the salmon filet and it was cooked perfectly , dessert was cheesecake and creme brule and that was also delicious. Great food and atmosphere"

  • "I enjoyed the last year's food better at this restaurant. My party was three, so we tried all the different menus they had for this Winterlicious and shared them. All the foods were nothing to excite about. About everything was the same taste, there is no surprise at all. It's boring for me.I'm not saying they were bad but I wouldn't recommend this place to those who are looking for Grade A."

  • "We went for an anniversary lunch, which I enjoyed more than my partner, but the server was pretty much frowning the whole time and looked as if he didn't really want to be there. The hostesses were very friendly and attentive, however. My trout was good, but I would have enjoyed my partner's beef cheeks with polenta and brussels sprouts more. The french vanilla creme brûlée was a nice finish, but we waited a bit longer than necessary for accompanying tea and coffee, especially considering the restaurant was near empty. All in all, I would return, for the good local food choices and the very stylish, warm ambiance."

  • "While staying at the Hilton, went to the bar to have a drink. Had a look at the Tundra menu and was so impressed I cancelled a reservation I had elsewhere. Quail appetizer was very good and I experienced new flavours. Pumpkin gnocchi was amazing (I typically avoid gnocchi but was intrigued by the description on the menu). BRAVO TUNDRA!!"

  • "Varied menu, well presented, and good for biz. lunch in downtown core without all the noise of the typical spots. Prices are also reasonable for a downtown restaurant - compared to say Little Anthony's, Volos and Drake 150 - it's immediate neighbors."

  • "Tundra restaurant is the perfect location for those attending the Nutcracker Ballet (or anything at The Four Seasons Centre). It was conveniently located and the staff were very friendly. The food was tasty and there were options for our two daughters ages 5 and 6."

  • "I know that this isn't always a bad thing but in this case we visited this restaurant because there was a birthday and we were hoping for something that was a bit more unique or surprising. I had ordered a chili rubbed steak which had an unexpected curry taste that felt didn't compliment the dish at all. I was underwhelmed by all the three course and although I wouldn't say the food is horrible it wasn't worth the price point. Sorry Tundra."

  • "Perfect for a lunch with business colleagues. The food was delicious, great buffet, lots of options for the vegan at our table. Kudos to the interior designer!"

  • "There are many restaurants in the area that serve great food and have great service, but Tundra stands out for me because I can actually have a conversation with my dining companions and we can hear each other. The ambiance and decor are lovely, The food was delicious and I liked the suggested wine pairing."

  • "The food was great. I worked off the buffet while my guest sampled the menu. We were both happy with our choices. I would recommend to others...in fact I have already. Very enjoyable time at Tundra."

  • "We had been planning to visit Tundra for a few months now, but something always go in the way. Finally, we made it and we were not disappointed. The food was great, service was impeccable and the atmosphere was very relaxing and inviting. Will visit again for sure!"

  • "Had a pleasant meal with my wife after travelling to Toronto for the weekend. Initially thought that the restaurant was external to the Hilton. The hotel foyer was very busy as there was a conference or some such thing in progress and I thought that the restaurant would have been very busy. This was not the case. The restaurant was quiet and the service very good, as was the menu. The meal was vey good and the choice of wine was also very good."

  • "This is a great little spot. Probably mostly overlooked by the general populous in the downtown core as it is in the Hilton and probably mostly enjoyed by the patrons of the hotel; but, is a quite, little gem with GREAT food. It did take a little long to actually get the food after it was ordered (we thought the waiter forgot about us); but, when it arrived, it was well worth the wait. Would highly recommend this restaurant!!!"

  • "We have been coming to Tundra for several years for our pre-ballet dinner, but have noticed a steady drop in the quality of the meal, and will be looking for an alternative for future outings. On our most recent visit, the cauliflower soup had little or no flavour, the pork tenderloin was tender but lacked any sauce so was dry, and the fish was overcooked. At these prices, this performance is less than should be expected."

  • "Will not go back. I am surprised at the low quality of the food particularly for the price. Service was pleasant."

  • "Always wanted to experience Tundra, so when my wife wanted to celebrate our anniversary, it was a clear winner. Asif, our server was extremely warm and hospitable which led to us devouring his recommendations and wanting more. A must try!"

  • "Tundra continues to be a fine go-to location for a dinner prior to a performance at The Four Seasons Centre. While the food selection is not large, the quality is very good and the service is geared to the pre-theatre crowd."

  • "Ideally located for dinner before a performance at The Four Season's centre."
    Dined on 11/14/2013
  • "Let's be honest, the food from any fine dining restaurants are always not bad if not great... so when we dine out the things that matters most is the service, the ways the staff make you feel and the overall atmosphere. And on that, Tundra delivers time and time again !!"

  • "A pleasant surprise!! Usually we avoid hotel dining rooms, but were very eased with our meal. Great service, Food was hot, fresh and so delicious,"

  • "I went to Tundra tonight with my daughter and two friends. Two of us had pork tenderloin with spaetzle and peaches. We both agreed that the tenderloin was outstanding--a great blend of flavours, perfectly balanced. The service was pleasant and efficient. We had an interesting discussion around the table and could actually hear each other, which was much appreciated. An all-round terrific meal. I plan to return to Tundra soon."

  • "My waiter was not happy with his tip and was going to other wait staff showing the receipt of his tip and trying to make me feel uncomfortable with the amount I had left as I waited for my wife to return from the washroom. He destroyed I very lovely evening for me and I thought the tip amount was generous."
