  • "Excellent options for vegetarians and for those who enjoy lamb and fish: from mezes to large plates. The hummus, haydari, and muhammara with house made turkish bread (small rolls) is a generous portion. While the restaurant makes their own bread, you usually have to ask for more. Service is attentive but they can rush you with clearing tables. I highly recommend both locations: on Fillmore and Clement."

  • "The operative word for the "small plate veal meatballs" is expensive. 2 smallish meatballs and garnish for $14+tax+health insurance+tip? Yikes. Vege mousakka was very good but served sufficiently hot that it was boiling and required almost a 10 minute wait for it to cool sufficiently to eat. Service was spotty due to understaffing; those where there were working hard."

I am a vegetarian and from the warm olives to the excellent lentil soup to the vegetarian maza to the falafel platter to the pistachio baklava, everything really good. Very attentive and happy wait staff. Rather have thinner bread then the thicker Turkish bread but just get romaine lettuce leaves instead."

Surely they can find more personable and interested wait staff. If I had known it qould be so unpleasant I would have taken my lunch meeting to Cafe des Amis or Spruce."

  • "my wife and I were in SF on a rather wet and misty weekday, found a parking place on Fillmore St (gasp) and headed to Troya for an early lunch. Excellent but spicy (which I like) dishes, and the lentil soup was outstanding. Also enjoyed a Czech beer, not seen everywhere. Will be going back here again."

  • "We had a reservation right after seeing a movie at the Kabuki, which is just a few blocks away. Their menu is eclectic and has seasonal variations. If you're not famished, you can order their small plates. We had lentil soup, roasted Brussel sprouts, a cheese dish, and grilled anchovies. All yummy. They offer sparking water; a nice touch. And the management is very friendly."

  • "I went here with a groupon not knowing anything about the restaurant and was very happy. I love Fillmore St and we got a window table so it started off in the right way. The staff was extremely pleasant and accommodating from the start. The food was excellent. We had the calamari ( not the typical fried style which I love but sautéed and presented in a wonderful sauce that I could have eaten alone). We also had what they called pickles but were pickled veggies- very refreshing and tasty. We each had the lamb kabobs and shared a side of rice. The kabobs were on a bed of creamed lentils and seasoned perfectly. The only reason I gave 4 stars and not 5 was because the lamb wasn't tender and a bit tough but delicious none the less."

  • "Food was excellent: the watermelon salad was so refreshing, the calamari grilled and deliciously spicy (and tender, not chewy), dessert was awesome. I might've paired the figs with greek yogurt instead of whipped cream but--like all the rest--was a great combo of flavors and textures (with pistachios, honey and a little whipped cream). The server Jeremy was fabulous. Great experience."

  • "I frequent Troya often as it is in my neighborhood. I had a business lunch there and our server couldn't have been more dour if I had asked him to keep a very sour lemon in his mouth for hours on end. He was so unpleasant that he affected our entire experience. I could cite 6 examples but why bother. We didn't order appetizers or dessert as we couldn't wait to leave. It is a shame as the food is certainly good enough and the ambience is fine for an easy business lunch."

  • "I've been going to Troya Clement for over 15 years and always enjoyed it. I would rate that a Neighborhood Gem. Now that I live 2 blocks from the Fillmore location, took a friend there for a night of good food and conversation. We sat at the bar -- quieter than if we'd been at a table. Had a yummy meal. Once out on the street, in the relative quiet, we were shocked that we were both hoarse and could barely talk above a whisper. Open Table's noisiest category is "Energetic". They need something stronger. Much as I liked everything, I don't know if I would choose to go back. Too unpleasant to scream and have to say "What was that?" despite enjoying good food."

  • "We went to Troya on a Mindsy night. The food was wonderful and the corkage fee is in,y $15 so we brought a bottle of wine. The downside was the service. It wasn't busy at all, but the server was hard to find when we asked for more bread for dips and never refilled the water. It kind if took away from the whole experience. Still, we would go back as the food was great."

The cheese cigars, lamb meatballs and brussel sprouts were really the faves. One of those with me doens't eat brussel sprouts but unknowingly ate some and wanted more...until I told her what they were!! In any case, this is such a step up from other places of Mediterranean style that might be considered comparable. So much more for the price overall...very pleased with my first experience here. "

  • "Had dinner here this past Sunday. While it was good, nothing about the food was good enough to make me want to return. The lamb kebab was a bit tough. The wait staff was very nice and liked the atmosphere very nice. I love Mediterranean food and am always hoping to find 'the spot' I just moved from Palo alto and am missing Anatolian Kitchen. Their food is fresh, clean flavors with just the right amount of seasoning. "

  • "Incredible food - I so much miss the food from Turkey and this is my first find where I can say the food truly represents Turkey - with just a bit of a "fancier" spin to it. The Feta Cigars hit the spot - almost reminded me of a spin on Burek which I so loved to eat in Turkey (although I am not a sweet person, rather savory, so I asked for a "tomato" type dip instead of the honey - perfect). The Manti was identical to what you get in Turkey. The Grilled Calamari was amazing - but a bit spicy so beware!"
