  • "The evening with my wife, was nothing special like a birthday or anniversary, but it was something new to try that was romantic time away from the children. I chose this restaurant, not because of its reviews, or closeness to home, but there was just something about the name that sounded fancy. We live on the eastern side of Independence, MO so it was about a 40 minute drive to get here. The lady at the front desk was very pleasant and had already set a reserved table in the back with the flowers I ordered, already on the table. She sat us way in the back of the restaurant, so that we could have some quiet time together, which was a great gesture, but the restaurant was quite dead for a Friday night. Wish there was a better view!"

  • "The food was very good, steaks were fixed as we requested. The Cesar salad in the Parmesan bowl was unique and delicious. Service was terrible. I think our waiter left during dinner and no one took his place and he forgot to bring our dessert. Someone at the restaurant should have apologized and introduced a new server. The dining area was quiet and relaxing and we did enjoy our dinner but we ended up being there 2 hours. Great food, great ambiance and horrible service."

  • "This restaurant experience was decent. The salads were actually very good, although the bread appetizer was pretty basic. The steak was not cooked to our requests, but the overall taste was pretty good. The wait staff refilled drinks great and they didn't come by too little or too often. The room was a little bright for dinner time. The silverware was missing an extra fork, so we had to use the extra silverware on the table when they took our forks that we used for our salads. The restaurant in general was quiet and easy to hear each other."

  • "Picked this off OpenTable two days before V-Day (mix up on childcare day) based on open time (6 PM) and that it was not a fancy "burger" joint. Salad started off rough with the use of a large plate for a small Parmesan bird nest (cheese a little thick) for the Caesar salad that left a large empty canvas of white plate with one lettuce leaf and a few cherry tomato slices as decoration. The Pesto Stuffed Filet was cooked to perfection (medium rare with emphasis on rare) but appeared to be topped with pesto and not stuffed (okay with that, keeps the steak from drying out). Dessert trio was fantastic but all chocolate which left my wife (allergic to) without a dessert and coffee was never offered. Great effort and we would try again."

  • "Although I had never dined at the Trofi before, I managed a reservation for Valentines day at the last minute. The salad was extremely fresh, the butternut squab flan with roasted shrimp was a treat, the scallops were delicious, the Pinot Noir was tasty and poured to a higher level in the glass than the other stingy restaurants I am familiar with, the dessert was also wonderful and imaginative. The waitress was attentive and cordial. My wife & I will be back."

  • "It took 35 minutes to get our appetizers, and they were cold. I think our server left in the middle of his shift, and we had to go find someone to help us. The rest of our meal was excellent and they discounted our bill, but I don't think we will be returning due to the poor service."

  • "Service started out great as our server was quite attentive and helpful. However, it went down hill from there. They got busy, not enough staff, our server 'disappeared'. Only after getting a horrible manager, our server had an "emergency' and had to go. He was taking care of about 4-6 tables and NO on came out to even tell us this so we had to sit around and wait to figure out what was going on. Once the manager came over, it was all attitude and I had to basically make a stand about certain issues and make a complaint! He was just not a very good manager! He did finally agree to take a coupon, that says good anytime except holidays. Valentine's day is NOT a holiday! NO ONE gets the day off! and our server told us it would be fine!!!!!"
