  • "Came during North End Restaurant week and had a great time. I've lived in Italy for a bit and know quite a bit about Italian food, and my experience was still very positive. Started off with tomato zuppa, which was just a touch mild with great slices of par/reg in the center. Had the mushroom gnocchi, which was good but thought would be better. Wish there was more sauce, more mushrooms, and smaller gnocchi. BUT I have to admit that I am quite picky about my gnocchi; it was still a good dish! Loved the salmon with arugula salad on the side. My friend had well done mussels in a tomato saffron broth and her shortribs came with the corn and sage polenta, which I LOVED! That plus the arugula salad were my favorite "dishes" of the night."

  • "We've been to many places in the North End but had never been to Tresco so decided to give it a try. We were glad we did! The food was excellent, and so was the service, too. Our table was right inside the door, though, which made us feel a bit like we were a roadside attraction as diners came and went from the restaurant or waited for their table. (All the other tables were either upstairs or in rooms off to the side of the entrance.) We got over our odd location fast once the food started arriving. Every dish was perfectly prepared and there was plenty of it. We had another entire meal from the leftovers the next day!"

  • "We went for a Birthday dinner. We were offered the Grotto which was quiet and amazing. We had dedicated wait staff who were attentive, knowledgeable, courteous and gracious. The food was absolutely amazing. Would recommend the grotto which is suitable for up to 8 people in the warmer months as it is in the wine cellar and was chilly for this time of year. We expected that but did not give it enough forethought to bring warmer sweaters. Overall, wonderful place. We will go back again!"

  • "Hit the restaurant with 4 friends for the Spring 2014 restaurant week. None of us had been there. We hard a great meal (other than my roasted brussel sprouts being a bit over roasted). Portions were great. Skipped the enormous win list and had half liters of the house wine - more than adequate. Service was great. A bit noisy, might have been the various groups around us. I would go again."

  • "First time at Tresca's, was seated upstairs and loved the room. Fireplace, comfortable not overly tight spaced....Dine Out menu had more than enough choices. Actually the 3 course dinner without dessert was more than enough food. Appetizer, pasta and main course, my wife and I ordered 2 different options of each and barely finished. Service was excellent and friendly. Would return..."

  • "The hostess and wait staff very attentive, pleasant and professional. A great menu and the meals presented not only eye pleasing but delicious. The veal meatballs, crespelle, Osso Bucco and Bucatini in Bolognese sauce were perfect, and the best we have ever tasted! On a very busy Saturday evening the entire staff worked hard to serve everything timely and with a smile! Although a bit pricey it is worth it!"

  • "Came for restaurant week. The bread plate they start you off with with awesome with lots of different varieties of bread and bread sticks. The salad was great, the gnocchi was absolutely amazing, and the pollo Roma was fabulous too! ( especially the polenta). This place has always been a favorite of mine in the north end. Among all the restaurants it really stands out!"

  • "Service was excellent. We ordered a bottle of wine that was excellent. We went during restaurant week but were very disappointed that there were only two items on the menu. I did not like either choice, so I ordered off the regular menu. We had to ask for bread because they only serve bread with dinner. I feel if you are spending $20.00 per person for food, plus a $40.00 bottle of wine, bread should come with your meal. Food was good, but not excellent. Atmosphere was very nice. With all the choices in Boston, I probably would not go back."

  • "The special Dine-Out Boston menu offered a nice variety of high quality. Numerous choices in each of the Antipasta, Pasta, and Entrée courses, where several items are off the regular menu. Be sure to get seated upstairs. First time guests, we wanted to try something new - we will go again, probably for a special occasion."

  • "Fantastic Italian decor with Wine Bottles and bottle racks high along the walls. We were seated on ground floor. got there around 5pm and all was quiet, but by 6pm the restaurant became full of people and notabley (yet expectedly) loud and energetic... The Food: Fantastic! The menus: Easy to determine main course meat or seafood, but beware of the details which are not so clear which occurred at our table. Diavolo (Shrimp and pasta dish) was not clear on the spicey-ness of its dish. Extremely spicey such that it was unedible. However, an option choose something else was provided and no charge to the spicey dish. Kudos to the service and was greatly appreciated. I'll be back again..."

  • "Having never been to Boston, I was told by everyone to go to the North End. But with so many restaurants to choose from, all with great reviews and similar menus, which to choose? In the end I settled on Tresca and I wasn't disappointed. My main reason for choosing Tresca over other Italian restaurants was the website. Not only because it was better than many others, but it looked a more spacious and inviting. Tresca seems to have just the right amount of space to have a more intimate dinner which I prefer. The food was delicious. They offer half size lighter portions as well as Pizza for anyone not wanting to break the bank. The Wine selection seems great, although I only had the Sangiovese. Oh and the staff is top notch as well."

The waiter couldn't remember the orders while standing at the table (I.e. as we were ordering) let alone get them right for delivery. Drinks took an inordinate amount of time to arrive, and were wrong. Just poor particularly considering the price!!!!!!!"

  • "My husband and I had a great dinner at Tresca before heading to a concert at the garden. The only small complaint that I have is that the waiter seemed to be spread thin and servicing too many tables. After he took our order we didn't see him for about a half an hour. Our assorted cheese plate appetizer was delivered, but the dining room attendant wasn't able to explain the cheeses to us. we finished the plate before the server came back. We waited a while before our second round of drinks. Other than that, the food was delicious, great ambiance!"

  • "It was all I had hoped it would be, I was hoping to see Mr bourque there.the food was awsom,although my wife got the rib eye ,which see was sorry she didn't get one of the Italian dishes since a steak is a steak. The only complaint would be after I ordered desert and coffee, the server brought the check, and had to of come over 3_4 times to see if I took care of it yet, like we were being rushed out. We will return., thanks mike"

  • "Stopped in with my fiancee, we were given a promotion card to try out Tresca and it lived up to the recommendations and reviews. Large menu for the North End and several great choices. We decided to eat in the bar and they had a great bar menu as well. I recommend the Veal Cutlet Panzanella. Our Server was great and helpful giving recommendations since it was out first time there. Overall great experience and will go back again!"

I usually work on a system that helps me determine in the end what to tip and what to rate a restaurant by. I was lost because there was nothing to critique.   • "This is owned by legend Boston Bruins hockey player Ray Bourque...and we realized going in that it might be resting on his name. The menu is not large but offered some wonderful sounding dishes....the kind that get your salivary glands dancing right away. The biggest disappointment we had was our server...we were seated by the hostess...we already had drinks in hand from the lounge that we waited in while they were preparing our table...we were 15 minutes early for our reservation. Our waitress ruined the experience. She had horrible timing, left us waiting to order, never brought the beautiful bread basket and offered no assistance with the menu. She was insincere in her service. The food was very good,but not worthy of a repeat soon."

  • "We had a reservation for Saturday night and they were running 10 minutes late therefore we sat at the bar and got a drink. I got the prosseco which was very good. Then we were shown to our table exactly 10 minutes after. We shared the Crepelles appetizer and I got the Bolognese pasta. They were very good and the pasta perfectly cooked (al-dente). My boyfriend got the rigatoni with peas, pulled chicken and pancetta and he enjoyed his meal as well. For dessert we tried the gelato. This was the big disappointment of the night, pass on this really not worth it. The rest was delicious though. We will be back. Restaurant was also very noisy."
