A word from Trabocco
Trabocco brings something new and exciting to Alameda. Chef-owner, Giuseppe Naccarelli presents a seasonally inspired menu of classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, influenced by the cuisine of his native region of Abruzzo.
A Trabocco is a unique fishing pier found along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Architect and Designer Lev Weisbach of Weisbach Architecture|Design was inspired by the beautiful Trabocchi of Abruzzo when he created his spectacular design. With its reclaimed wood ceilings, dramatic copper encased fireplace, and modern bar Trabocco is warm and welcoming yet strikingly dramatic and modern.

The chef knows how to grill fish and complement it with great side dishes. The pastas are terrific and the pizzas are crispy and flavorful. Trabocco is a great choice for lunch or dinner."

  • "We had walked by this restaurant and made a mental note to try it out one day. It really lived up to our expectations. The food in general was very good (though the Cod special was loaded with too many breadcrumbs, the rest of the food was exquisite) and the restaurant looks to have many different eating areas. If you want a private area, they have a curtained area in the back, nice bar seating, and a lovely heated patio. You won't get any fine views of the ocean, but you will get great service, some top quality food (though its was a bit pricey, but we expected that from the number of stars) and the bread is awesome! We were too full to try dessert but will be back to try again next time!"

  • "Giuseppe Naccarelli is a culinary genius. Fresh made in house food of the highest quality. We visited for lunch and were greeted with fresh bread and olive oil to dip. I opted for the Piatto del Trabocco, a wonderful combination of grilled scallops, shrimp and calamari served over spinach, arugula, spelt, cannelinni beans and grilled tomatoes with lemon and olive oil. This had grilled bread as well. Everything seemed as if it was sourced that day. No need to add a thing as it was perfect. My guest opted for the special ahi tuna that was served with a wonderful bean salad. Seemed to enjoy his dish and gave nothing but praise to the server. Service was spot on and all lunch items were priced under 20. Trabocco is a great find in Alameda."

While the food was great the staff was rude an annoyed when we asked a couple of questions about the menu and food but my last experience with dinner service was completely different. Wonderful waiter, food was enjoyable and prompt, Maritnis were perfect, so all in all good experience."

I love the cocktails made with St. George's spirits....the Bitter Italian is my favorite. The wine and beer that I have tried was also very good. The restaurant design is sublime...artsy, modern, comfortable. I highly recommend this restaurant as a great overall delicious and friendly experience."

  • "I really like this restaurant a lot, and will totally come back. It is very beautiful and modern in a warm way. You can dress up, or down. It's not too noisy, considering how high the ceiling is and the large parties there often are. The chef-owner is delightful, and happy; he comes and says hi. I'd like to come some time (maybe even alone!), and sit at the counter overlooking the open kitchen. There's a yummy fireplace which we got to sit beside one time. The waiters both times were great. They treated my 6-year-old like she was royalty. Both times, it took our entrees a while to arrive b/c there were large parties. Didn't love that, but I just need to know that it's gonna be a leisurely meal. You should check it out!"

  • "I never thought Alameda would ever have a first class restaurant, but I was wrong. This was my first time at the Trabacco. It was recommended by my neighbor and and a couple of friends. This is a first class dining experience in the classiest of Italian styles. The food is wonderful with seafood a specialty. There is also an excellent wine list featuring some fine Italian wines. The atmosphere has a casual elegance and a romantic flair. The owners, Guiseppi and Christine, welcome you and impart a friendliness that adds to the ambiance of this fine restaurant.   • "Friendly Bar tender and Venezian spritz all around started our fabulous experience at the bar. We brought our Paris France foodie friends to experience Park Tavern. They and us, of course, all were impressed with ambience, wine list, and American food selection. Favorites included Brussels sprout chips, truffle fries for sharing, NY steak, lamb, sea bass, and chocolate creme brûlée! Espresso was the only complaint we had. It was too watery and missed the mark."

  • "I was excited about dining at this new restaurant, but sadly it was not a good experience. The decor and ambience were great, but the food and service were seriously lacking. We all selected the lobster bisque as a starter, it was bland and would have possibly improved with a dash of salt, but salt and pepper are not provided at the tables. We then waited over 30 minutes for the main course to arrive, in that time we were unable to catch our waiters attention. When the food finally arrived it was very underwhelming and two of the three dishes were not too warm. When we complained, there did not seem to be much concern but we were offered more soup! I doubt I will ever return to Trabocco."

The pasta dishes are fresh, the daily specials portion is huge ( at least for me), the appetizers are also great to share & cocktails are yummy!!.Service is excellent to boot. Love the ambiance of the restaurant. Guiseppe the owner and chef welcomes you from the open kitchen as you step into the dining area. We are a long time Alameda resident and we are so happy to have a fine dining restaurant in our backyward that has great food, service and atmosphere. I even overheard one of the customers saying, "I feel like I am in a San Francisco restaurant.""

  • "Trabocco for 53rd BD. This is my second time dining here, my first experience was wonderful & the food was great as well as the service. On 3/17/2013, 7:00 pm, the dining room was full so we chose to be seated outside. There were two dedicated waiters for outside service. The patio was great, service mediocre, there were only four tables full, and the waiters did not bother to ask if we would like second drinks, when asked the waiter said, "Another one" which I felt was inappropriate, My steak dinner was tough and fatty, the potatoes were served with the garlic skins still on. I felt uncomfortable to mention this since they were so busy and the waiters inattentive. I hope to get a response, I am willing to try this again."

  • "Been here twice now and the food has been excellent each time. The crudo and carpaccio have been delicious. Pizzas are some of the best you will find in the Bay Area could be a tad crisper but the flavors are spot on. Crispness may be difficult to manage between the right amount of char (which they have) and too much( which another popular spot in Oakland has). Char balance will always be a challenge in wood fired ovens. If you go for the Pizza, try the Mezzo Mezzo which is actually a half margherita and half mushroom ricotta calzone. Bright tomato sauce, generous amount of mozzarella, and robust mushroom flavor Fish specials have been amazing and perfectly seasoned. Haven't been able to try the meat entrees yet but next time."

  • "What can I say? The food is outstanding. Absolutely delicious. But it's in a mall. So if you don't mind haute cuisine while people push by with their shopping carts filled with gallon jugs of milk, strollers full of whiny kids, etc -- there's something different about a mall vs a street scene, I guess. Inside, chic. Outside, meh. Alameda is beautiful -- on the beach, or the waterfront. I thought, given the mall ambiance, that $35 was too much to pay for a steak. I'd pay $20 for that steak in a mall. I'd pay $35 for that steak with a marina view. In addition, sloooooow service. I was warned about it ahead of time. Food could not be better. Best in Alameda, no contest."

I'd call out the Calamari Fritti appetizer because it is by far the best calamari we've had - light, crispy and fresh - The pizza? Wonderful. Also, very fresh and cooked perfectly - appreciate having gluten-free options. Thanks Giuseppe! Trabocco gave us Alamedan's yet another reason to love calling Alameda home."

OK but if went back would have some pizza and some appetizers/salad instead of entrees. hope they can work on the service..food is fine but need to know what to order"

  • "For the prices charged, the food was ok but being ok is a disappointment. The owners obviously have a huge overhead for the upscale remodeling the premises underwent and the ambience is clearly what patrons are paying for. The lamb shank I ordered redefined lamb as if Phyllis Diller was claiming to be a teenager. To the restaurant's credit they took it back. Be warned the carafe of wine is a half of a carafe served in a 500 ml bottle rather than the std. 1 later. I guess I was bothered by the average quality of the dinner and the deceptive representation after paying for something special. My wife and I consider ourselves "foodies" and the food was something we anticipated as special, but by the end I found myself apologizing for the meal."
