A word from Trabocco
Trabocco brings something new and exciting to Alameda. Chef-owner, Giuseppe Naccarelli presents a seasonally inspired menu of classic Italian dishes with a modern twist, influenced by the cuisine of his native region of Abruzzo.
A Trabocco is a unique fishing pier found along the Adriatic coast of Abruzzo. Architect and Designer Lev Weisbach of Weisbach Architecture|Design was inspired by the beautiful Trabocchi of Abruzzo when he created his spectacular design. With its reclaimed wood ceilings, dramatic copper encased fireplace, and modern bar Trabocco is warm and welcoming yet strikingly dramatic and modern.

Diner Reviews
  • "Excellent food and excellent services. Couldn't believe it was crowed on a Wednesday evening!"

  • "Our server forgot about us and it took him about 45 minutes to take our order. It was loud people behind us and the food wasn't good. Best things there were the wine and bread."

  • "We were surprised and delighted to find this genuine Italian restaurant, NOT a chain, in an out of the way spot in Alameda. The physical plant is very attractive and well thought out, the service very friendly and attentive without being unctious, the menu offerings were creative, and the food was well prepared. The chef came out to chat with us when we were finished to inquire about our meal, which I thought was a good sign of their high standards and desire to provide the best dining experience they can. Well done all around. I will gladly return."

  • "What a great find! Lovely service, knowledgeable staff (had quite a lesson about wines), beautiful setting, and every morsel was flavorful; from salad, to main course, to dessert. Loved the delicate combinations of flavors. It was hard to choose because there were so many delectable choices on the menu. If I lived near here, I would surely go back! It was well worth a long drive to get there."

  • "Looking forward to a quality dining experience, we were disappointed with the limited menu, noisy space, small portions, horribly slow service, and once it was obvious we weren't drinking/ordering wine...almost no attention was paid our table. We will not be going back."

  • "The food just want satisfying enough for the price you pay."

  • "Food was very good and have good menu for kids. Some food are pricier than other Italian restaurants."

  • "I had the carpaccio and not many places offer this on their menus. This was wonderful, and it was the dish that drew me in. My fellow diners had seafood dishes they enjoyed. We shared a caprese salad with a creamy mozzarella. The desserts were traditional and tasty. Our waitperson was attentive and knowledgeable about the food served. I can hardly wait to go back!"

  • "A great place to enjoy dinner without your kids. The outdoor patio is fantastic. The food is great. Giuseppe the owner/chef is great. Over all a fun enjoyable place."

  • "My family went to celebrate Father's day a week late... All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals.. My wife's Mom and I had the fish special (cod) it was delightful. My wife had the mezzo e mezzo and was very happy, the crust was great My daughter had the angulotti, she loved it. My wife's Dad had the salmon, he said it was delicious. It was a great dinner!"

  • "The wine list is the only complaint. We like wine "by the glass" and they only offered 1 cabernet and that was fron the central coast of CA. Other tha that, it was a very enjoyable experience."

  • "Do yourself a favor and try Trabocco. Wonderful food and service. Each time I've dined there, no one in my party has been disappointed. This most recent visit was for my mother's birthday and she really enjoyed herself. The Chef came from the kitchen and visited each table. They even gave Mom a complimentary dessert with a candle on it for her birthday. Already looking forward to going back and trying something new from their incredible menu. Would highly recommend this place for a special occasion or just a nice dinner. Thank you Trabocco!"

  • "We really enjoyed our food. We like to split courses, so we can try several things, and they were cool with that. Our waiter was friendly and helpful as well as being very Italian - great for the atmosphere. The restaurant is elegant - although situated in a shopping center it is certainly not a "mall" type restaurant."

  • "Trabocca is a place to escape the busy day and hideaway in an atmosphere of pleasure. It takes you away to a place filled with good wine, unique menu choices, enjoyable service and pleasant surroundings. The decor lends a sense of warmth, glow and comfort. We have not been disappointed."

  • "The food is delicious. The chef comes out to talk to the customers. The service is good, including the receptionist, the waiter and the busboy. The mocha tastes well. But the price is not low."

  • "We have gone to Trabocco almost every week since it opened. Usually we go the bar and have a drink and move on but eat dinner there at least 1-2x a month. We have brought out of town friends there as our "go to" restaurant. The Owner/Chef is very friendly and moves from table to table both welcoming and thanking diners. A wonderful addition to Alameda!"

  • "Trabocco has an authentic, delicious menu for both lunch and dinner. The ingredients are fresh, well-seasoned, and perfectly prepared. I tried the Abruzzo wine (the region where the chef/owner originates) and really enjoyed it. They also have a variety of specialty drinks. Portions are generous and plated nicely. It can get noisy, but that is because it is always a packed house! You can still carry on a conversation at your table without having to speak loudly. Everytime we go we like to try something new, and so far, we have yet to be disappointed."

  • "My wife and I went on Father's day for dinner and had a very, very good meal. We have been to Tabocco recently and the overall experience was fine. However, to be fair, the service was a bit slow. Our server was a delight and made up a fair amount for the slightly slow delivery. The food was excellent, well presented and fulfilling. Will be back again for sure, hoping for a little faster service but expecting a good meal as in the past. This spot is a welcome addition to Alameda's group of great places to eat."

  • "Trabocco is a great place for wonderful food and friendly service. However, on Father's Day, our party of four was "sharing" a waiter with a large party and didn't get the service we would expect - forgot about a beverage ordered, no checking in for bread refill, another bottle of wine, second cup of coffee, etc. Our bill was just under $300. Not sure is this was a staffing issue or a waiter issue. We usually sit at the counter when there is just two of us."

  • "every dish we ate was beautifully presented and delicious. Two slight negatives: I ordered the rabbit and although the flavor was very good, the meat was dry and as a result somewhat difficult to cut; we ordered the flourless chocolate cake and again the flavor was wonderful, but my previous experience of this dessert is that the consistency is usually a heavier cake-like consistency. Trabocco's was more like a mouse/pudding."

  • "Service almost not existent. Food was good (salmon), chicken dry though."

  • "A group of six, from kids to grandparents, we all enjoyed Trabocco a lot. Highly recommend octopus/potato appetizer. Oxtail ravioli, seafood stew, and desserts were other highlights."

  • "Eclectic menu. Pizza, pasta and seafood creatively developed and exceptionally well executed. The desserts were great - the tiramisu was to die for."

  • "Waiter did awesome job suggesting choices. Very loud setting. But food was worth it!"

  • "It was just perfect from food to staff to ambience. Highly recommended. The Sea bass was excellent. Also, they have the BEST pizza's!!!!"

  • "It just keeps getting better! Love the food, ambient, decor and service. This is my all time Alameda favorite!"

  • "Food was superb from the homemade bread to the delectable pumpkin creme brûlée. Chef Giuseppe was a character and gem for Alameda. Went with a group of 7 and we shared almost everything so I was able to sample a good number of dishes from seafood pastas to roasted duck to polenta and everything was awesome. The one thing that prevented me from giving a 5star rating was our waiter-quite simply he sucked. He seemed totally overwhelmed and frankly just spacey. The bus staff (and hostesses) really picked up the slack for him and were much more pleasant and responsive. Overall it was a great experience with one dark cloud"

  • "I chose Trabacco from OT for their Menu & Convenience from an appointment I had in the East Bay. Chose to sit on the patio which was a nice experience though in a shopping center. I ordered for my party: 7 Appetizers, 2 Salads, a Pizza, Pasta & Risotto, 4 entrees & 3 Desserts. The courses were delivered promptly and appetizing to the eye. The dishes were adequate however none of them jumped-out with Great Flavor. Owner/Chef Giuseppe came to our table a couple of times to check on our enjoyment. There was nothing BAD to say about the dishes, however I can't RAVE about them either. The server got into a problem @ the end and he forgot a Lemonade and it took almost an hour to get the check because of having to re-input ALL into the computer."

  • "Let's face it, dining choices in Alameda for that special dinner are far and few between. Finding a special place usually means going to San Francisco where parking is expensive. I can count the local 'dress-up' restaurants in Alameda on one hand. But the dining scene is slowly improving and Trabocco has helped it take a giant leap. And parking is free; not even a meter to worry about. But the best reason to go to Trabocco is the FOOD. Wonderful pasta, seafood, pizza...I'm not good with descriptions, but I know what I like and I know when food tastes fresh and delicious. Yes, meals might be considered expensive, but still cheaper than SF, yet great sophisticated ambience. Yet casual enough for those get togethers. Great place for all!"

  • "My wife, daughter and I chose Trabocco for a Monday evening Fathers Day dinner. The food was great as expected. The ambiance is good with only a moderate noise level. The food is a light Italian with a focus on seafood. Many of the the dishes are small plate making sharing easy to do. Trabocco also has a comprehensive wine list and a unique selection of beers. We shared the fried calamari which is lightly breaded and delicately fried. My wife had the lamb skewers, my wife and daughter shared a bean salad and I had the seafood spaghetti and a salad that included roasted pear. All was delicious. This is the second time my wife and I have eaten here, and will definitely return. Trabocco has become our new favorite restaurant."

  • "I am a foodie. I am ALWAYS disappointed when I dine out, because I know I could cook it better myself at home. Three Italian restaurants in the US have received my hearty recommendation. 1) Becco's in NYC, 2) Pappo's in Alameda, and 3) Trabocco in Alameda. Deciding to dine here for our anniversary this week was one of the best decisions we've made in our lives. You will regret NOT going. Just go. Dine. Live. Love. Laugh."

  • "The buzz is this is the new In Spot. Not sure why after our experience. Best part was wait staff attentiveness. They are good at their jobs. Although could do without the two snarky unfriendly unwelcoming (redundant?) hostesses. Food was underwhelming. Grilled ahi stank like wood and overpowered and masked the flavor of the steak. Served with fingerling potatoes and olive-pepper tapenade. No blending of flavors and quite dry. Ditto spinach salad, quinoa/bean/garbanzo salad, and arugula/cherry tomato salad. Textures and flavors off balance, needed a bit of salt and perhaps a light dressing to enhance elements. Portions are huge. Best to order one entree for two. Would we return? Our party of four voted No unanimously."

  • "The food was amazing, from the small dishes to our entrees. Their specials were all interesting and intriguing. I had the seafood risotto that was perfwctly cooked. (I hate it when seafood is overcooked.) Traboco's staff was amazingly patient with us: we had a decent size party of 7 adults and 2 one-year-olds. My family is never always quite on time and arrived past our reservation time, and took awhile to get ourselves and order together. We had a lot going on. All the staff that passed by said hi and attempted to engage with the babies, and made us feel extremely welcome."

  • "Too noisy - unable to carry on a conversation. Food was very good, however we asked for bread and tarter sause which never came. Server was not very knowledgable about specials."

  • "Great restaurant ~ greetings at the door, food (although I am hoping they change their menu to be a little more diverse ~ it's been the same since November ~ and so many things with rabbit? The owner/chef, the cooks, wait staff are all consistently great. The only complaint I have is the wine pour ~ take a look at the pour from Perry's in San Francisco ~ now that's a glass of vino ... why be so stingy on the wine ? "

  • "We dined with friends last week and were warmly welcomed, great ambience, friendly yet very professional servers, fantastic food - appetizer caprese was very good using brown tomatoes from Mexico and fantastic burrata cheese, entres were branzino, salmon, lamb shank, and gnocchi. We all enjoyed our well prepared and presented meals. Fantastico!"
