Townhouse Bar and GrillI was recommended the BuffaloI was recommended the Buffalo chicken salad tho was warned it was not low cal. I ordered it anyway and thought it was fantatsic. The maitre' de was informative, the waiter was cute and funny and the whole ambience was so nice.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent service and good foodWe came here for a Father's Day dinner and the people and service was excellent. We had the stuffed mushrooms, which were okay. Wish it had more flavor and I now wish we tried another appetizer. The special was salmon over mashed potatoes and the salmon was very good. I didn't care for the diced tomato topping, but it was alright. My husband ordered the fish and chips and it delicious. The service was excellent and our waiter was very attentive.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMGood Food and affordableWe went there saturday night made reservations and were seated immediately, service was a little slow but our server was very knowledgable and professional. I had their Salmon special and my wife ordered their vegetarian tortelini. Both were very very good.
We will be back.6/15/2013 12:00:00 AMReturning after 25 yearsReally liked the history and decor, spacing of tables, patio view, service was great, menu had something for everyone. Our threesome had: grilled veggie platter, sweet potato fries, ribs, couscous-shrimp salad and all was quite good. All in all a very good experience, just a little pricey.6/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways good! This is a great place for lunch or dinner. Always good food.6/7/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat SupriseThe Townhouse is a great surprise in what appear to be the backlot buildings of a more industrial area of town. Behind the doors - its clean, contemporary interior and friendly, speedy, considerate service make the whole experience great.6/3/2013 12:00:00 AMA Night OutThe Town House is a neighborhood Gem. A group of five Emeryville neighbors were going out to listen to a Jazz performance. Stopped in at the Town House first for drinks and shared multiple dishes. All good. The service and co -operation of servers and kitchen staff was outstanding.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMTried a couple of newe dishesTried a couple of newe dishes and they were great. Anoother wonderful dinning experience.5/31/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a good mealWe hadn't eaten here for years and then "rediscovered" it a few months ago. It's a staple for us. The menu has some items which are standards there and then others that change frequently. Last night I had the summer squash ravioli and it was fabulous. The service is always good and we love the atmosphere. Nice to have the parking lot behind it, even if it IS a bit small.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMLively Restaurant; Good Food/DrinkThis was my second time at Townhouse. I pleased to find out that they periodically change the menu so it is not a static selection. We enjoyed out drinks and food and the lively atmosphere, although I call "energetic" noise level very loud. There was a large TV above the bar with a sports game on, but I didn't find it distracting. Our waitress was attentive. It would be fun to eat outside on the deck on some rare hot summer evening.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMQuiet Night OutThis is the second time that we have went to Townhouse. It was great both times. The food was really good, and worth the money. And here is at tip, if you want to check it out, but don't want to spend over $20 for a plate. They offer a burger for less than $15. Over all it was a great place for dinner and conversation.5/25/2013 12:00:00 AMEmeryville gemHidden away on a lesser street behind somewhat confusing parking and side entrance through a courtyard lies Townhouse. The insides of this once-was speakeasy have been carefully renovated showcasing the structural wooden trusses and columns. There is a long bar at one end the kitchen at the other and two dining area (one sunken). The menu changes frequently and they really excel at slow-cooked meats - carnitas tacos with coleslaw and coconut BBQ ribs were both exceptional standouts. Salads are good. Yet to find a dessert that was worth it. Some great cocktails, and reasonable beer and wine selection. Attentive, friendly service. A great choice if you find yourself in Emeryville.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AM15th Wedding AnniversaryFood and service was great. Would gladly go to the Townhouse again.5/23/2013 12:00:00 AMBusiness Lunch placeMet out of town relatives here- good fresh food; very high prices; felt very business- oriented; not particularly personal for friends and family.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMfirst timerLoved it! Salads were awesome for lunch. Appropriately attentive service, delicious straight forward food, excellent quality.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AM1000th timeI've eaten everything here but breakfast and enjoyed The Townhouse for almost 50 years (since the "good ole days" when it was pitch black in side.
Never a bad meal!!5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMDoesn't disappointHave been here multiple times over the years. Consistently great service and solid, delicious food. Nice gem for Emeryville.5/22/2013 12:00:00 AMThe Best! The open-face crab salad was delicious as usual. Love those garlic & sweet potatoe fries.5/21/2013 12:00:00 AMHidden gem on DoyleI've had dinner here numerous times and the prime rib is one of the best that I've had. So much that the entire table ordered the same thing the last three dinners we've had there. This recent occasion was for lunch with my mother and aunt. I had never been there during lunch and it was packed with business men and women and LOUD business talk. It was hard for us to hear each other at our own table however we still enjoyed the service by our waiter who was attentive, detailed in description of our orders and of course the apps and food was awesome!! The ambiance did change when the business people left and it was extremely quiet in the restaurant. Reservations encouraged!5/20/2013 12:00:00 AMsomething for everyone @ TownhouseGreat menu, wonderful specials, 'hefty' Mojitos. 3 appetizers for 4 of us was perfect. Menus and drink order were first, entrees arrived shortly after appetizers were lip-smackingly-consumed. Waitress was very attentive (the reason for an early seating catches everyone while they'r still fresh and before the ever-efficient kitchen and wait-staff get a tad overwhelmed, which happens to MOST kitchens when the 7:30, 8:00, 8:30pm diners show up en masse.
Overall, Townhouse is a great place for any occasion, special or otherwise, including Happy Hour (must-try: Avocado Bruschetta). There's something for everyone!
Townhouse is a Bay Area gem.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious Food! Great Service! We have been to the Townhouse before and love the food here. My husband says that this restaurant makes the best ribs in the world..and they are served with yummy sweet potato fries and cole slaw. (The bones on his plate, at the end of dinner, were totally clean!) I had the shrimp served on a Mexican style salad, topped with guacamole..and it was fantastic. I would recommend this place because the food is delicious, the service is very good and we feel very comfortable dining here.5/4/2013 12:00:00 AMBusy Town House on a Monday nightOur party of 4 became a party of 5 at the last minute. The staff could accomodate us immediately with a little shifting of tables. No delay, and our reservation time was met. We were nicely greated and a manager checked on us during our meal. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable and the kitchen was quick with appetizers and entrees. The waiter was fast and correct with the complex drink order. Water and bread arrived quickly as well. All this during a very busy (full as best I could tell) Monday night. The presentation and taste and size of portions of the entrees were appreciated by all. A very good experience as I am used to at the Town House. It is a bit noisy; you need to talk loudly to be heard at the table.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMFood was fabulous. I ate thereFood was fabulous. I ate there for the 1st the previous week and it was excellent, particularly the service. This last time the service was poor.4/22/2013 12:00:00 AMBarkkissmoSurprise find looking on Yelp for restaurants in Emeryille. Reviews made it a must. We were taken aback when we first saw the building because it looks old and abandoned. We had just had a very bad experience with reservations with bed and breakfast plans that we had been looking forward to and it fell completely through. Beautiful day so we chose to eat outside in the sun. Host and Wait staff are very attentive often to see if you need anything or if everything is going OK. We ordered the grilled buffalo prawns, GrilledThai steak salad, Avocado bruschetta, warm brussels sprouts an grilled tenderloin all spectacularly delicious. We will return with friends.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMThe quality food and the diversityThe quality food and the diversity of the menu is outstanding. I have never been disappointed with anything I have ordered from the menu. The service is also great. I would highly recommend the Townhouse to anyone wanting a quality dining experience in the East Bay.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMCelebrated my birthday dinnerCelebrated my birthday dinner party here and had an amazing evening at Townhouse, all around outstanding! Thank you!4/16/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was outsanding, asThe food was outsanding, as good as any highend restaurant. service was wonderful. My wife and I had a wonderful time.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was our second visit. This was our second visit. Service was truly wonderful and attentive. Food was weird - too many sauces and odd seasonings. I ordered baby back ribs and they were sticky, sweet and really inedible. If the chef wants to know how to make ribs, he/she should try Bo's Barbecue in Lafayette as an example. My friend's fish was overcooked and, again, too many competing flavors.
Ambiance was nice & informal and staff were very helpful. Waiter forgot to bring my coffee with dessert. Later he asked if I still wanted it and said he wouldn't charge for it, which was nice.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMHands Down FantasticFrom the time we sat down and the waiter took our cocktail order, to the time we got our dessert, everything was spot on. The menu covers all bases, but if one of the specials peaks your interest, go for it! They are always terrific.4/12/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways a gret lunch experience.Always a gret lunch experience. We sat outdoors on this visit andd it was very pleasant.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMExcellent ChoiceGood food, excellent service and great environment. I have eaten at the Townhouse several times and have never been disappointed. The staff is very friendly and accommodating.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMTerrific local joint withTerrific local joint with consistent and inventive food4/1/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough the menu is now aAlthough the menu is now a bit pricey for what you get, our seafood salad was very well prepared and presented. Getting drinks promptly is a problem--you order through your server, but some time later it is brought to your table by someone whose job it is to deliver the drinks. And I mean "some time later" as in 15-20 minutes. Unacceptable time lag for such a small place. Once my brut rose arrived, it was not the cremant at all, but rather a regular rose, and the whole process had to begin all over again.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistently WonderfulTownhouse is always great, but this particular evening was spectacularly good. Well done to the whole team there!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA Great Neighborhood FavoriteRepeat customer, still a great neighborhood favorite. My husband LOVES the ribs with the sweet potato fries...and I always steal a few of those fries! I had the ravioli with the creamy wine sauce..and it was excellent.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMMy lunch companion and I eachMy lunch companion and I each had an appetizer and a special fish main. I had the avocado on toast, which I have ordered on several previous occasions, and it's very yummy. For the main I had seabass with a beurre blanc sauce, mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables and it was absolutely delicious. I've had the salads before and they are very good, but the fish was even better.2/11/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful fish and presentation.wonderful fish and presentation. worth returning for.2/4/2013 12:00:00 AMwonderful spot for lunch andwonderful spot for lunch and dinner, quality food, inventive preparations, nice portions.11/29/2012 12:00:00 AMconsistent and good qualityconsistent and good quality food, inventive dishes, a must when in the East Bay.11/27/2012 12:00:00 AM
