  • "We went to Ottawa with our friends who are visiting from The UK. 4 adults and 4 children. Our service was outstanding! We had two of the friendliest waiters ever! Loved them! Our food was delicious. Best olives I've ever had :) It is only a 5 minute walk to the Parliament buildings as well. I would recommend this place to anyone and will definitely go and dine there again!"

  • "I have made a habit of bringing friends to this restaurant for lunch. We tried the patio Friday. The hostess was not at all friendly. In my opinion, the patio was under staffed. My manicotti was dry. However, our waiter was great. I will continue recommending this restaurant, I have had many great experiences."

  • "We host every employee's birthday at this restaurant and I come in for dinner 2 or 3 times a month since its a stone's throw from the office. The previous 4 birthday outings were good so I was expecting another comfortable outing. Unfortunately that didn't turn out to be the case. Our server was quite pleasant, but the overall experience left much to be desired. Salmon that was supposed to be grilled showed up doused in butter. Birthday cake that we brought in looked like it was sliced by a 3-year old and then served on hot plates right out of the dishwasher; creating a pool of melting cake on everyone's plate. Maybe this was an anomaly, but we plan on taking a 3 to 6 month break from this place. Will give it another shot down the road. "

  • "What struck me when we entered the restaurant was the "power lunch" feel to the room. The atmosphere reminded me of private clubs where I have lunched, but unlike those clubs, Tosca had a definite metropolitan vibe. The food satisfied my craving for a hearty pasta lunch. The servers reminded me of those I encountered in Italy, where being a waiter is a life-long profession. All in all, the perfect setting for a lunch to reconnect with a former boss."

  • "I took my family to Ottawa for the first time last weekend for Winterlude and found this restaurant on OpenTable so decided to book this for a special dinner on Saturday evening. While my expectations were not too high the evening was great with food on par with many of the restaurants here in Toronto. The service was excellent and they even accommodated some food restrictions."

  • "Had travelled to Ottawa for Winterlude and to skate the Rideau canal. Found Tosca restaurant on Open Table. Very nice atmosphere and decor. The food was very good from the appetizers to the main course and desert. Our waiter's service was less than we would have expected for this level of restaurant. The service was fair at best. Still overall a pleasant experience."

  • "We found out late in the day that some special guests from out of town would be dining with us, so naturally Tosca was our first choice for the night. One of their strengths is that they are consistently excellent. The food is always top-notch and the service is welcoming and professional. Our guests enjoyed themselves immensely and said that they will definitely come back to Tosca for another outstanding dining experience."

This past week we invited our downtown office colleagues to enjoy our Christmas party in this winning atmosphere. The food as always was exceptional and the service was friendly and professional. You will not be disappointed if you choose to dine at Tosca. The food, atmosphere and service are consistently exceptional time after time."

  • "Tosca had been a favourite of ours for the past 5 years that we have lived in Ottawa. However, the last 2 times have not been good. The wait staff have been overbearing when unnecessary...yet when I Indicated that my shrimps in my linguine do not taste fresh, they did nothing and then avoided our table until they were tracked down for a bill. The bill was not adjusted for the unedible shrimps which are a major component of the dish!!! We were not impressed and we do not see ourselves returning or recommending."

  • "I used to go to Tosca often when it was housed in a small house on Gloucester street, so despite the slick new digs I figured the amazing cuisine and impeccable service would remain intact - this is not the case. The food is fair a best, a cross between East Side Mario's and Vittorio Trattoria. Decent enough for lunch but not up to snuff for a client dinner. That being said, the bread is delicious, the wine list is good and the staff try, but are young and clearly not foodies as they failed to distinguish one type of pasta from another. It is unfortunate that such a formerly fine eatery has denigrated itself into the cliche Ottawa dining spot. Hopefully this place can reinvigorate itself to its former glory, but until then, I shall pass"

  • "We were in Ottawa for a conference. This was a business dinner and honestly, we were not overly impressed with the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was medicore, the service was the same. Nothing stood out about this restaurant. We ordered a bunch of appetizers....the pizza was ok....the fried zucchini were nice.....the antipasto was ok as well....again, this was a place, I would probably go at with my girlfriends for a casual night out...certainly not a place to impress a business client. I would not go back, as I feel Ottawa has many other dining options...but a nice place for a casual gathering."

  • "We shared the bruschetta appetizer, which was tasty enough. The tomatoes looked and tasted a little bland. But the seasonings and the crunchy bread were yummy. My husband had the gorgonzola pasta and declared it fabulous. I had the zuppa de pesce. It was LOADED with seafood. And was a HUGE serving. I managed to get through it all with some assistance from my husband, but I would definitely recommend sharing it with someone. The prosecco we drank throughout the meal was a nice festive touch. The service was friendly and attentive. We took the waiter's advice about what to order and he didn't steer us wrong. We enjoyed the crunchy, baby-biscotti that came with our after dinner espressos. All in all, a lovely dinner!"

  • "We really enjoyed our dinner at Tosca. We were there on Good Friday, and worried that it might not be open in spite of our Open Table reservation, as everything in the area was closed. However, it was open, and reasonably busy! The food was fantastic! Portions were generous, and the service was friendly, if a little slow from time to time. It took a while for bread to be brought, and for our dinner plates to be cleared and it took a while to get the bill. We may have noticed this more than others because we had our 9 year old with us, who was getting antsy toward the end. It wouldn't stop me going back, but just something to be aware of. All in all, a wonderful meal, and a lovely spot. I would recommend it."

  • "I'm really glad I chose this spot on Valentine's day. My reservation with open table was honoured. It was also easy to book which is a bonus. After we were seated we were served by our waiter in no time. Very attentive to details. More than willing to accommodate our requests. The words "thinking outside the box" come to mind while remaining traditional in serving customs and practices. All food was served hot and in a timely manner. He also presented himself multiple times to check on how our food was or if we needed anything. I hope I get the same server next time. If I would change anything it would be the music. Sometimes it was noisy background and other times it lacked any energy or entertainment."

  • "My girlfriend and I went to Tosca on a Thursday night and were definitely impressed. As we are from out of town, we had not heard anything about the restaurant before seeing it on Open Table, and are glad we tried it. We shared an antipasto platter (peppers, cheese, olives, onions, articokes, salami, ham) which was quite sizeable and tasted great. My girlfriend had the gorgonzola tortelli and I had the penne fortunato. The food was quick, absolutely delicious and in large portions - we were only able to finish half of our mains after the platter. We would have loved to take our left overs back with us but our hotel room didn't have a fridge. We will most definitely be returning here the next time we find ourselves in Ottawa!"

  • "I was there for a business lunch on a Friday and it was packed. My Open Table reservation was there, and we were seated quickly. Service was very fast considering the number of people, we did have to wave at our server once or twice as we went by. My colleague and I had a wonderful lunch and had paid our bill all within one hour. This is difficult in most restaurants and virtually impossible at busy ones. Thanks to Tosca, they have business lunches all figured out."

  • "Tosca is one of my favorite restaurants. When I have guests in town, we often take them here. On this evening, my daughter and her boyfriend were here. The service was not up to Tosca's regular standards...even though the restaurant was not busy. The waiter took away the bread and olives while we were still enjoying them. Then he brought out 3 of the 4 entrées (all pasta) and my daughter waited an additional 7-10 minutes for her's to arrive. In my opinion, her choice was the easiest of all 4. Then he didn't offer her cheese & pepper right away. Everyone can have an off night. The food was great...and we will be back."

  • "The service was poor. Plates were being cleared while others were still eating. My daughter asked that they be left. When we were done with the main course, they plates were cleared, but no one asked if we wanted the leftover food packaged. The wine bottle was cleared with some wine in it. No one offered us coffee or dessert. To their credit, they did reduce the bill and gave us some free desserts to go. All in all, not a great evening. With other restaurants in the area, we couldn't recommend this one"

  • "Tosca is good - the word that resonates is solid. Missing the detail that is required to move out of the pack - presentation, timing, focused or theme on menu. Things like spotting a table of 6 needs more than one playe of oil & vinnegar. Or, understanding a robust red needs to breath - the details. All the parts are there. Will be back."
