A word from Tokio Pub
Tokio Pub specializes in fresh Japanese cooking. East Asian classics are blended with flavors and cooking techniques from Japan and Latin America to create a unique pub menu. Options to start are unforgettable Tacos and specialty Sushi; but the signature Japanese Hot Rock steals the show. Choose from NY Strip and Ahi Tuna to cook table-side, bringing the action to you. For dinner, our 700 degree robata grill fire chars sizzle platters like the Twice Cooked Organic Chicken with yakitori sauce and ramen noodles or the Twisted Tail Lobster served with crispy rice noodles. With lively music, friendly service and edgy atmosphere, Tokio Pub offers the North West Suburbs a new option for lunch, dinner and cocktails. We are located next to Shaw's Crab House in the Streets of Woodfield.Continued

Diner Reviews
  • "I have visited Tokio Pub twice, and while the concept of an Asian pub is unusual, the execution is exceptional. I have been very satisfied with all the menu items I have tried. The menu is relatively small but varied, and is certainly unique. If you're willing to think outside the box and try something new, it's certainly worth it."

  • "Great food and atmosphere. Can't go wrong with the tacos. Love the fact they are always adding new drinks to the menu and trying something different."

  • "Fantastic selection of specialty drinks, which are on special for only $5 every Monday. This restaurant is a great find and unique in its fusion of Japanese Latin food. Must have: Wagyu beef burger with ramen noodles as a bun. This is not your average sushi joint. Tokio Pub is fun and definitely stands apart from the countless other Japanese cuisine restaurants in Chicagoland. Conveniently located in the Streets of Woodfield area."

  • "Great grilling your filet strips on a hot rock at your table, excellent!"

  • "it was my wife's birthday, and we sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly, took great care of us, taking note of my wife's pregnancy, and brought out dessert. He even gave her a hug when we left. This is one of our favorite places."

  • "I really enjoyed this place! Huge variety in the menu to appease any customer. This can be intimidating, but our waiter happily recommended the Volcano Roll, Godzilla Roll, & the steaks that you make at your own table! You read that right. Small steaks you make on hot rocks at your own table. Very unique. Atmosphere was great. Awesome place to take a date, or go out with a small group of friends. I highly recommend"

  • "The food is average at best. Nothing to scream about. It is a surprise for being a Lettuce Entertainment Restaurant"

  • "Great server--she knew her menu and also when asked her opinion shared ver honest reviews. Sake sangria was very good but thought it was a little weak."

  • "More than six months ago, my family and I had a negative experience at Tokio Pub, predominantly due to less than acceptable service and a mixed experience with the food quality and flavor. I am extremely happy to report that upon a second try, everything is tremendously improved. We wanted for nothing from our server, who was knowledgeable, focused on our satisfaction, and extremely pleasant. Additionally, we tried several things from the menu, and nothing disappointed. Everything was extremely flavorful and creative. Everybody in our party loved everything they tried. I am confident that we will be back again, and I would recommend Tokio Pub to everyone."

  • "Food is very good, but won't blow you away. Everything was well prepared and very tasty. Sushi was good, but not on par with a high quality sushi restaurant. The hot rock entrees are fun, but it's kind ad gimicky. Rocks get cold quick so make sure you request a new rock right away or you probably won't be able to finish cooking your meal without an mid meal break. All in all a good experience and I would probably go back."

  • "We had a great time at Tokio Pub sampling the new selections on the menu. One can always expect to find something new that wasn't noticed before. All the food seems to get great care in preparation and service is always on par with the best."

  • "Went early on a Friday night, it was just staring to fill up and we settled in for a well-paced, delicious meal. There is a new menu but we had a light meal and mainly stuck with pot stickers and sushi rolls (Godzilla roll and dragon roll). Save room for dessert, frozen mochi, warm beignets and Fuji apple saki. The staff was attentive as always and the ambiance/music upbeat. It’s a great way to start your weekend."

  • "The food here is outstanding - great flavors, unique dishes. This restaurant has been shoe-horned into an extra room from Shaw's. We had a reservation for 2 and were seated at a small high top table near the patio door and squished between the bar stools behind me & the next table behind my husband. Every time the patio door opened we were met with a GUSH of air. I was knocked from behind from people at the bar and my husband was knocked by servers trying to squeak by.. The menu has the featured "hot rock" dishes but they require room on the table - we barely had room for our drinks. The hostess station was non-existent so people came in and looked as puzzled as we were when we arrived. Tokio Pub, find a new building and you will be a 10!!"

  • "Despite living about 40 minutes away, I meet friends at Tokio Pub at least twice a month. We just love it! The food is funky and really tasty, the cocktails always hit the spot, and the service is friendly and efficient. We like that you can graze for hours or enjoy a full meal. We can't wait for summer, when we can enjoy the open air area!!"

  • "Loved the tacos and the dessert, especially the coconut bao w/pineapple sauce and ice cream--very yummy! Hot saki was delicious and comforting on a cold winter night. The seating was a bit cramped and the pub was noisy, but that's to be expected. Reasonably priced."

  • "For people looking for an interesting take on Japanese/Mexican food, this is the place for you. Love the tacos (BBQ pork, steak, shrimp, fish and chicken) are all great. I suggest getting one of each your first time so you know which one you like the best. I have to strongly suggest the pork and shrimp. Also really enjoy the hot rocks and being able to cook the food at the table. Brunch is also great - interesting items that taste wonderful! Great place to catch up with friends or date with your spouse."

  • "This is a place we will return to because of the variety of food options and the quality of the food. We tried their ramen, spicy tuna roll, edamame, and tacos - all of which were excellent. Also, the ginger mojito is quite refreshing. This is a tiny establishment (in terms of being in the suburbs), but well-worth the visit."

  • "While Tokio Pub is great any day of the week, Mondays rock, literally. As if making their 10 specialty cocktails only $5, the starters, sushi, tacos, and Hot Rocks are 1/2 price from 5-6pm on magical Mondays. Don't miss the ginger garlic edamame, sweet potato tempura & volcano rolls; washed them down with a ginger mojito or 3. Yes, I ate all that 2 weeks ago. This week I switched it up, & swapped the volcano with the crunchy tuna/avocado maki. The fish is always fresh, the combinations are balanced, multi-textural, & tasty. The rest of the menu is eclectic & funky, but always yummy. The service is what you would expect from Lettuce: friendly & efficient. It's perfect spot for a quick bite, an after work gathering, or a full meal."

  • "The food was excellent! Everything we ordered was very good and even the picky eater in our group was excited to try the new fun things on the menu. Sadly that we were put off by the waitress never coming over to check on us except when we flagged someone else down to go get her. Also people kept using the wrong exit door which was right by our table and made it WAY too cold. Overall we may return for the food and hope for a new server."

  • "We are at least once a week regular customers. We only have one compaint and for us it is a major one. The restaurant changes its menu too frequently. Once we find something we like it disappears from the menu. For example the latest change resulted in the removal of several of our favorites: sliders, chicken wings, shrimp and rice noodles to name a few. It is very discouraging when you go to your favorite restaurant for your favorite foods and find out that they are no longer available."

  • "We loved Tokio Pub, the food and service was great. They have happy hour Mon thru Fri from 5 to 6pm. They have an entire page of food that is half off. We tried everything! They have wonderful Sushi. Took our 2 kids with and they had a great time trying new things. We ordered ahi tuna on the rocks.....it literally came with tuna on a plate and a hot rock to cook it on. Kids had alot of foun with it! Oh, and the fuji apple saki was fun too! I definately recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Great service, quick seating with a reservation. Staff is very friendly and service is quick. Managers offered good dining advice to patrons. Would like to go back just on their recommendations. Bottle of water is necessary and fits my thirsty habits. Good selection of alcohol. Great sushi. Music was dub step/ EDM."

  • "I thought the food was pretty good, however the service was not. We were sitting for almost 20 mins before I had to flag down someone to wait on us. We had the sushi rolls, trendy and different, but all in all pretty good. I would go back to try there hot rock steak."

  • "My husband and I love this place, we are here at least once a week! Every day from 5-6pm the left side of their menu which is all the appetizers, tacos, sushi, etc is 1/2 price. The taco's are great, sushi is great, and we just discovered their crispy rice, the shrimp is amazing!! Our favorite waitress there is Alice! She is so great, always helpful with menu choices and just has a great personality! There is always plenty of seating inside or outside (which is heated in the winter)."

  • "First time at the Tokio Pub and the experience was very good. We ask for a Mango martini which was not listed in the menu and the server said no problem. The mango martinis were excellent. They have plenty of appetizers. We tried the pork belly nachos and some sushi. Both were very visually appealing and delicious. Overall. the whole dinning experience was fantastic. Remember to leave room for dessert."

  • "Tokio Pub was reasonably priced. Had a fun menu with "hot rocks". Server explained menu before taking our order. We had a reservation-but they were going to seat us right next to the door. There were plenty of other tables open. Overall a very good experience. They have an awesome heated outdoor area, will have to try that out with a larger group in the spring!"
