Diner Reviews
  • "The food and serivice is always outstanding. If I lived closer the Tilth would be my go to place for dinner once or twice a week. I especially like they way they prepare vegetables. They turn them into magic. "

  • "The service was perfect and the food was outstanding. This was the best meal I have ever eaten in a restaurant."

  • "Food was only okay, not even close to the quality and flavor the other times I have been there. "

  • "Tilth was so good! The ingredients were so fresh and the portions wrre perfect. It was a lovely meal!"

  • "The food was excellent and the wait staff was very knowledgable. The service was a bit slow though. Do not get the butterscotch pudding unless you like to be punched in the face with a fistful of sugar. The dining space is very densely packed, you feel like you're at someone's family Christmas dinner and the entire extended family is there in too small a space. It can get loud! "

  • "I went to Tilth for my birthday dinner with a friend. Our waiter made sure it was a special night by suggesting some great menu items and catering to our special dietary needs. I had the lobster pot pie which I didn't think I'd be able to finish, but once I started eating I wanted to lick the plate clean. I had a wonderful night."

  • "I did the Seattle Restaurant Week dinner menu and was disappointed on the quality. Nothing was impressive or worth a second trip. We got the lime marinated tri-tip which was over-seasoned, like mediocre Mexican food. We also made a reservation and had to wait 10 minutes or so until we got a table."

  • "My husband of 30 years and two friends celebrated our anniversary. We enjoyed the grand menu which brought something wonderfully tasty with each course. The wine pairing was a perfect complement. Service was attentive."

  • "This was my first time here. I consider this the best find ever! Our server for the night was Razz and we couldn't have asked for a better addition to our group of 4! His humor was spot on, and not overbearing. His descriptions of the options and then our selections added to our experience. The food was wonderful and so creative! I started with the Apple Soup. Who'd have thought such exquisite flavor would come from an apple combination?! There were two surprises during the meal, brought to us in the form of a simple spoon filled with flavors. Incredible combinations that only required one bite to fully appreciate. Well done, Tilth! We will be back and intend to bring many others here. Thank you!"

  • "My girlfriends and I had dinner here during Seattle Restaurant Week. I absolutely LOVED the savory apple soup appetizer and my friends were big fans of the food in general! Our server was very patient with us as one person in our party was quite late for the reservation and we stayed a long time drinking and talking after our meal. The only reason I gave only 4* for service was the greeting (or lack thereof) when we arrived - it was quite awkward and the person who seated us seemed put out that we were there. Food was good (tasting menus are always very hard to rate, but I would go back to try the full menu), desserts and wine list were excellent. Thanks for the great meal!"

  • "It's a perfect choice if you want to stick to the Wallingford area for a special occasion or fine dinner. The courses were very inventive and delicious -- there's clearly a talented chef in the kitchen; and the staff was knowledgeable. We had a great dinner and great service once we were seated. They had trouble seating us within 15 minutes of arriving (on-time) for our reservation, but I can cut them some slack as it was bustling on a work-night due to Restaurant Week. Some of the courses (cheese plates and lobster pot pie -- yum! -- come to mind) were much smaller portions than we expected, and others (apps, steak, and desserts come to mind) had portions that met expectations."

  • "I have been to Tilth a few times for restaurant week and have always had amazing food. We were extremely disappointed with the food this time. My firiends both had the apple soup which was the highlight. My shrimp bisque was extremely fishy and over salted. And I usually love salt!!! My lobster pot pie was also very fishy and salty. My two friends had the tri trip which lacked any real flavor. After a lack luster first two courses I was still excited about one of my favorites, butterscotch pudding. Again, another let down. The flavor was fine, but it did not have a smooth consistency. I was almost lumpy. I hope this was just an off night, but I did expect better."

  • "Absolutely fantastic. I dined during Restaurant Week and it was hugely popular but the wait staff never made us feel rushed. Everything was perfect and not hurrying us through our courses was outstanding."

  • "A few friends decided it was time to see what all the fuss was about at Tilth. The restaurant certainly lived up to its reputation. Each of the four of us loved our meals - so much so that we kept sharing bites off our plates with each other because it was so delicious it needed to be tried by all. The asparagus flan was incredible."

  • "Visited for restaurant week and it was delicious! The menu does change but I had the lime marinated tri tip steak and I can't stop raving about it. It's a cute little space too."

  • "As always, a wonderful culinary experience--so many interesting flavors to savor. Every dish has an unique surprise ingredient that makes every mouthful memorable. One of my favorite restaurants!"

  • "We dined here for Seattle restaurant week. The service was incredible and we received knowledgable suggestions from the sommelier. Each course was delicious and presented beautifully. I adored the apple soup. My husband enjoyed his shrimp bisque and steak entree."

  • "We went for restaurant week and very much enjoyed Tilth. The amouse bouche was an amazing cashew pate with pickled mustard seed. I got the asparagus flan and my partner for the shrimp bisque. The flan was super creamy and the tempura was light and crispy. The shrimp bisque was flavorful but very rich. My partner got the lobster pot pie and I got the lime marinated tri tip. The tri tip was very tender and the flavor was excellent, albeit a bit too salty for my tastes. THe lobster pot pie was decadent and creamy, and we wish there would've been more! They accidentally brought us the wrong appetizer so we got to try three! THey were all excellent!"

  • "We went for the restaurant week 3-course special. We felt we were pampered like in a Michelin 3 star restaurant. Service was well-timed and friendly. We were explained what were the ingredients/sauces in each dish. It was apparent that the staff took pride in the food they served. We ordered shrimp bisque, escarole salad, lobster pot pie, lime marinated tri-tip, butter-scotch pudding and sorbet w cream anglaise. The food was delicately prepared and innovative. For some dishes, we both think that the accent was a little too strong. For example, lime flavor was overemphasized in the tri-tip dish. Perhaps the condiments should mess well but tone it down subtly? Still we enjoyed the fresh palate and the presentation."

  • "Interesting small menu. Good use of organic and wild ingredients. Yummy cocktails, creative food."

  • "The cuisine was amazing. From the starter bites of cucumber with creme fraiche and pickled tarragon, to the tuna rolls and cheeses, to the crab (and kale with orange? So good!) and steak, it was all amazing. It was also very pretentious, from the portion sizes, to the recommendation of getting many (many) small plates or a tasting menu, to the women beside us who sent wine back because they wanted something (and I quote) "more grapey" who were sneering at us constantly for joking about the best way to eat off the fancy spoons. Amazing food, but not really a crowd I fit in with - probably would only return on a very special occasion."

  • "Tilth is all about the farm to table experience. This visit didn't disappoint. The wine list was reasonable, savory apple soup was amazing, and tuna rolls were yummy!"

  • "An intimate, relaxing environment, Tilth is a restaurant with personality. We went there to try out their 8-course tasting menu and was completely blown away by the wonderfully paired, skillfully prepared, and beautifully displayed dishes. Throughout the whole meal, every dish that was seemingly very simple ended up being very complex, leading you through a journey by mixing textures and offering layers of flavors. Tilth definitely thrives for perfection. I definitely recommend this restaurant to all foodies."

  • "This was one of the best restaurants I've been to, ever. We ordered the vegetarian fixed menu ($90). Each plate was delivered individually, and the wait staff explained everything on the plate. The combinations of spices and ingredients - lets just say the food was beautiful! The portions are small, but the plates just kept coming! We were stuffed when we left."

  • "Arguably over-priced. Tasty, but not OMG DELICIOUS."
    Dined on 3/25/2014
  • "The wait staff was very good. The food was average. The portions were extremely small - we left hungry. The wine was overpriced as was the food. We were very disappointed and would not return."

  • "I had heard wonderful things about Tilth and finally had an opportunity to join a few of my foodie friends for dinner. I was not disappointed. We had the 5 course tasting menu and each one was delicious and beautifully presented. My personal favorites were the Apple Soup and Bean Cassoulet. To top it off, the fennel ice cream over olive brittle was to die for. Service was exceptional. I will certainly be going back."

  • "The service was great. We were able to reserve in advance which is great. I hadn't been here in years but was not impressed by the execution of the food. The menu and concepts were great but the biscuits were tough and not fluffy (very hard on the outside) and the gravy was missing the smokey aspect to it. Overall we ordered 7 things and they were not bad but when you pay $200 in food I expect something that really surprises me."

  • "Tilth has been written up as a "must go to restaurant" ... for any skeptics out there it is a "must go to restaurant"! Try a tasting menu, plentiful portions on the 5 course meals, amazing from the first bite to the last. Table favorites were the hangar steak with celery root purée and sauerkraut and the smoked bean cassoulet. Desserts (#5 on the tasting menu) were just enough to end on but almost unnecessary when followed by a complimentary bite of fennel anglaise and mini meringue. Delicious and memorable meal!"

  • "I have long heard about Tilth and wanted to go. Had the vegetarian tasting menu and none of the dishes was "spectacular". Apple soup was on the citrus side, salad was just salad, bean cassoulet while smokey wasn't memorable, and dessert was a simple chocolate sorbet. Service was great but after waiting years to go, just thought the food didn't live up to my expectations."

  • "The restaurant provides the perfect brunch ambiance. It's relaxed and light. I went with two friends. The food was really good. The hanger steak, while incredibly tender, was grossly under seasoned. When eaten with the other hash ingredients, the flavor was good. The waffle was tasty, dense, and filling. Best side order of eggs I have ever had! The French toast was my favorite. So light and packed with flavor! That's definitely what I will be ordering when I visit Tilth again."

  • "We ordered à la carte instead of the menus: 1 hors d'oeuvre to share ( per advice from waiter), 2 soups, 2 salads, 1 main dish of crab, and 1 main dish of Sable fish. The platters were all beautifully presented but small except for the soup and salad. The hors d'oeuvre was more like the amuse we got: tasty but too small. The Alaskan King crab (not spectacular neither in presentation nor taste) and Sable fish (delicious and appealing) were each 3 ounces which may not be enough for the average person. Our waiter was pleasant but pre-occupied. He did offer us to taste the wine first before we ordered, something I appreciate very much, however the wait was too long for our main dish (over 30 minutes). Considering the price, I was disappointed."

  • "Food was very good. Loved the sablefish. The venison was cooked to perfection - rare but seared on the outside. So tender! Unfortunately the service was lackadasical."

  • "Amazing brunch. Very unique and fresh and tasty breakfast. Not just the usual eggs. These eggs have personality. Highly recommend. Healthy and delicious, what more can you ask for? Seconds?"

  • "Very expensive for inconsistent quality and portions. example: Sablefish and sauce were excellent and decent portion for $18 small plate. Cassoulet (also $18) was about 7 oz vegetarian and tasted like it had liquid smoke added."

  • "I have to say that as much as I like Tilth, it's moderated by price and a sense of expectation that is just slightly higher than the actual experience. I think one measure of my 'like' is that I have lived pretty close to Tilth for the past ten years and have been there three times. Each time I've eaten there - once for brunch and twice for dinner - I've been pleased...but just pleased. I can't say exactly why, maybe it's the 'celebrity chef' label or some vague reputation thing from foodies that I know, but I just expect to be wowed by Tilth and end up being happy but without it being memorable. The food is good, the wine list is good enough, the service is even better, and the atmosphere is really nice for the most part."

  • "My daughter and I met for brunch on a dismally wet and cold morning. I suggested Tilth because I knew the food would be wonderful (and it was, per usual) and because I knew we'd be able to hear each other talk. What I hadn't appreciated on my previous visits was how full of light the place is. We had an interior table, it was gloomy outside, there were no candles…BUT, the light was bright without any glare. Very comfortable, warm and inviting, indeed. The crowd when we were there (early on Sunday) was typically diverse in age, gender, and everything else--everyone looked relaxed and pleased. Another non-food thing I appreciate about Tilth is how relaxed, efficient, and smiling the staff are; the smiles appear to be genuine."
