TilthOrganic find for carnivore & veganA charming atmospheric spot in a converted old house charnlngly lit. The casual ambience is counterpoint to the ambitious food which offers organic, locally sourced ingredients either a la carte or as part of several tasting menus, geared toward the carnivore, the vegetarian and even the vegan. Delicious wine pairings available as well.5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMOur New Favorite Restaurant! At home we go to great lengths to eat organic foods, local and seasonal whenever possible. Unfortunately there are not many restaurants that offer these qualities so we don't eat out much anymore. We heard about Tilth - a restaurant in Wallingford that serves only organic seasonal and local foods and had to give it a try. The food is offered in the form of small plates, so you can try many different foods. Everything we had was amazing! This is where I will go when I want a special night out with my spouse from now on!5/12/2013 12:00:00 AMConsistantly OutstandingAlthough pricey, Tilth is our family restaurant of choice for special occasions. The food is unique and always outstanding.5/11/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat food, not inexpensiveWe had a super meal at Tilth. The food was excellent and inventive. Two constructive pieces of feedback. The first is Tilth will cost you more than you might expect. Four of us with one glass of wine each, no dessert and a couple of appetizers was $50 per person. Also, we were surprised at the small size of the meals given the high prices. My wife got the small order of tuna that was really really small and my $25 ricotta gnudi (pasta) had only around 6 or 7 of the small ricotta dumplings. Everyone at the table thought they gave me the appetizer portion it was so small.
With those caveats in mind tho our meal was super.5/3/2013 12:00:00 AMAlthough we started out withAlthough we started out with our hostess being somewhat prissy about just EXACTLY where our table should be positioned, the rest of the evening turned into our kir royale just the way we asked for them, an absolutely stupendous dinner and attentive service. The space is a bit "bistro small" but it really didn't get very noisey until halfway throught the night and then it was still moderate. If you like people watching AND having a phenomenal meal, with potentially more space and slightly less noise, ask for a table outside along the sidewalk.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMThe place to go for a trueThe place to go for a true dining experience. We chose the Spring 8 course dinner and it was fresh and so flavorful. The dishes were spread out perfectly with portions at just the right amounts and each were described as far as ingredients and even suggestions on how to best enjoy each dish. Our server Jen suggested the perfect wine that was in our price range and taste preference that went perfectly with our dinner. This was a birthday dinner for my husband and I made a note on the online reservation regarding the special occasion. I was not sure if it would be noted - again I was pleasantly surprised with complimentary glasses of champagne at our seating and dessert with, of course, a lit candle.4/26/2013 12:00:00 AMLoved the five course menuLoved the five course menu - lots of food, and it's all really, really fantastic! Tables are really packed in though - not as romantic of a setting as I expected based on what I'd heard prior - but a great place overall.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLive in Northern CA whereLive in Northern CA where there are not very many good restaurants. Found you online, read your menus, loved them, dragged my Seattle food loving friends there and they have now become fans and will be bringing their Seattle foodie friends in the future.4/24/2013 12:00:00 AMAlways amazing. Went for SeattleAlways amazing. Went for Seattle RW and was blown away--even more so than on previous visits. Smoked yogurt flan and grapefruit panna cotta were particularly incredible.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMSweet gem of a place. LovedSweet gem of a place. Loved the fresh flavorful tastes in my scramble and the perfect portion size.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWorthy of the hype.Very imaginative and creative with flawless execution. Duck sliders are a very special treat. Love how many wines are available by the "carafe" as well as by the glass.4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious and innovative menuDelicious and innovative menu expertly prepared. Fresh ingredients and intimate and cozy atmosphere. We will be back!4/20/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went for restaurant weekWe went for restaurant week and enjoyed it there...the wine pairings were outstanding! Dessert was also remarkable.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMOur server was lovely andOur server was lovely and helpful; the food was delicious. All in all we had a very nice dinner at Tilth. Our one complaint was that the restaurant did seem a bit cramped, making it somewhat noisy.4/17/2013 12:00:00 AMDelicious experienceWholesome and delicious food with smaller sized portions, perfect for those not wanting to stuff themselves4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was delicious, andThe food was delicious, and had you wanting more, which I think in part is because the portions are on the smaller end of the scale. Our server, Jen, was amazing--super attentive and friendly! She really made the dining experience extra special for us. I would definitely go back to try out their non-SRW menu.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMEnjoyed a great meal at TilthEnjoyed a great meal at Tilth with friends during Seattle Restaurant Week. I was disappointed that the bean cassoulet was taken off the menu between the time we got the Restaurant Week notice and our visit, but our server explained that this is considered a "winter" dish and had been taken off two nights before we ate there. She assured us it would be back later in the year - which is good news as this is one of the most amazing dishes I've ever eaten. I tried the smoked yogurt flan, which was really delicious and different - never had a dairy item that had a smoky flavor to it. The marinated tofu and quinoa was also very flavorful and presented nicely. Can't beat the Theo chocolate pudding for dessert.4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMTilth is a fantastic spotTilth is a fantastic spot for fine dining; their tasting menus are an experience and their wine pairings are awesome. The only negative thing I could possibly say is that the seating is a bit cramped. I highly recommend you try the cassoulet!4/15/2013 12:00:00 AMI haven't had dinner thereI haven't had dinner there yet, however I am head over heels with your brunch. It's quiet, bright, and the food/coffee are absolutely delicious. The staff is great too. I never felt rushed and felt very taken care of. Favorite brunch in Seattle.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect food, organic andPerfect food, organic and mostly local. The service was friendly and efficient.4/13/2013 12:00:00 AMLives Up to the Hype1st time for both of us. Have wanted to go here since I saw M. Hines beat Morimoto on Iron Chef-impressive. Worried that it would be overhyped but we weren't disappointed. Small, cozy restaurant in homelike setting. Started w/ smoked yogurt flan w/c was light, unique & interesting citrus/greens flavor. This was followed by short ribs over some greens, cooked so it fell off the bone. The pana cotta dessert was a perfect ending. My friend had the pea soup with creme fraiche, roasted chicken & creme brulee - all very well-prepared & well-seasoned. Wine list had a nice selection by the glass or bottle. I like the fact that the menu promotes local, seasonal ingredients. Will return. Highly recommended.4/11/2013 12:00:00 AMTop-tier food and service,Top-tier food and service, with valued emphasis on organic offerings. The space is tight!4/10/2013 12:00:00 AMSeattle Restaurant week at TilthIt is always a special night when I get to eat at Tilth. My friend and I participated in restaurant week, meaning we had three courses for a set price from a selected menu. I have never been disappointed by a dish at Tilth, and most of the time am left wondering how the cooks can make the food taste the way they do. Delightful!
After our meal - to fight off a food induced coma - my friend and I walked a couple blocks to the Good Shepherd Center and through the Seattle Tilth demonstration garden. It seemed fitting to see local Cascadia plants thriving after partaking in their delicious bounty.4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMI went for Seattle RestaurantI went for Seattle Restaurant Week and the food offerings were amazing. I would go back for the bread and butter!4/9/2013 12:00:00 AMWonderful food in a wonderful,Wonderful food in a wonderful, romantic atmosphere. A true gem!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMThey have excellent food. They have excellent food. Some of the best in Seattle!4/8/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother great experience from MariaWe found Tilth to be all that we expected. Both the food and service where excellent.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMWent there for our anniversary.Went there for our anniversary. Food was great, service excellent and friendly. Overall a wonderful experience. Will definitely go again.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMThis was my first time hereThis was my first time here and found it easy enough but it had the appearance of being closed at first look. Upon entering - the place was packed! Food was good - healthy options that also taste good, but portions and selections are minimal. I enjoyed everything we ordered (we share) but was still a little hungry when it was over. Wouldn't mind seeing a few other side dishes as options. Went on Restaurant Week, so that might have something to do with options. Service was friendly. If healthy food options is your priority I would recommend it, if you want a side of beef - not so much.4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMBest biscuits I have ever had!We went to Tilth for brunch and it was terrific. Food was spectacular - hearty portions, not pretentious, and I had the chicken gravy and biscuits. Far and away the best biscuits I have had in my life. Dining partner had the mini duck burgers and a half order of French toast, duck cooked perfectly and house-made condiments were the highlight. They make a house-made bloody mary mix...I want one right now, also the best I ever had. We had reservations, which I recommend, as the brunch business was booming!4/7/2013 12:00:00 AMPerfect food. Imperfect parkingThis was our third time at Tilth. We love the food, the service and the ambience but it is difficult to get to from the Eastside. Only takes us about 30 minutes to get there but finding parking took me another 30 minutes so we have to plan well in advance. But I have to say the food and the service are worth it. The menu changes seasonally (seems like monthly sometimes on their website) so I will just say that the gnudi, risotto, mini-duck burgers and hanger steak were all superb. Even the amuse bouche (an apple soup) was outstanding. I love that they sell wine by the carafe as well, bringing the bottle to the table and allowing you to taste it. Our server John was superb. Took good care of us but wasn't intrusive. We will go back!4/6/2013 12:00:00 AMThe restaurant is in the mostThe restaurant is in the most unassuming little house in the neighbourhood. Inside is warm and rustic. Overall the food here is truly outstanding. Although the service was a bit slow towards the end, the management responded quickly to correct the situation.3/28/2013 12:00:00 AMWe went to Tilth because ofWe went to Tilth because of an Iron Chef America episode that featured the chef/owner of Tilth Maria Hines. I came in with high expectations after she defeated Iron Chef Morimoto, something I haven't before or since seen. So needless to say, my expectations were quite high regarding the food taste and presentation. Right off the bat we were greeted with extremely friendly service, excellent food, and a great wine list. I was very happy with our experience at Tilth and would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone interested.3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was absolutely phenomenal! The food was absolutely phenomenal! Such a pleasure to share it with friends and to have small plates to savor and fill up on over time :)3/24/2013 12:00:00 AMLovely Choice of Tasty FoodIf you have time for a multi-course meal, Tilth is a wonderful choice. Each dish deserves to be lingered over. Wonderful environment for engaged conversation and just enjoying the company of your companion (s)). Attentive and appropriate care of each table, even in a busy dinning room.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was very good. TheThe food was very good. The heirloom bean cassoulet was to die for. Order it!! The cheese plate was incredible, and came with a small smear of spicy beet puree which was amazing. Our server was a little soft spoken which was difficult in the somewhat loud restaurant, but it could be remedied.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMAnother wonderful dinner atAnother wonderful dinner at Tilth. The five course tasting menu was an awesome experience, only made better by the impeccable service. We will be back - not only for special occasions.3/23/2013 12:00:00 AMOrganic vegan and gourmetOrganic vegan and gourmet preparations mix wonderfully together. Sure there's meat and seafood too but interesting tasting menus (5 or 8 courses) allow chef to truly show skills. Located in small converted house tables can be close and noise on energetic side but last night not hard to conduct conversation. Perfect place to be called "fit for foodies"!3/22/2013 12:00:00 AMA great (re)discoveryExcellent! Warm and friendly. Nice people. Interesting wine list, and excellent cuisine. Chef's awards are well deserved!
I have only been twice on separate visits from SF. Both times everything was excellent. I actually forgot that I'd been before until I walked up to it. It will stay in my memory this time!3/21/2013 12:00:00 AMGreat but spendy!Great Menu with small plate options so foodies can try more dishes, but very expensive.3/15/2013 12:00:00 AMA little slow to be seatedA little slow to be seated - even acknowledged, and then a little slow to be greeted at our table. Other than that the service was superb, as was the food. I expect to be back. The space is a bit noisy, hard to avoid given the size of the restaurant and that it used to be a family home.
We had the fig/almond/farmer's cheese appetiser. Amazing flavor and mix of textures. Then for entrees, shrimp, and hangar steak on kale and smoked gnocci. The shrimp was super tender and flavorful. The meat perfectly cooked and the kale/gnocci was really tasty too. Desert was shared chocolate ganache cake, small but very rich and velvetty.3/10/2013 12:00:00 AMThe food was fun and amazing....DefThe food was fun and amazing....Definitely the best service I've ever had in any restaurant!2/17/2013 12:00:00 AMi love that this place isi love that this place is organic and that is what drew me here! great brunch, tried almost everything on the menu.2/16/2013 12:00:00 AMWithout a Grain of SaltSet in a Wallingford home, it is hard not to feel like you've been invited over by an adventuresome culinary friend. A friend that you also wish would ease up on the salt just a bit. This is small plate dining at its finest with creative combinations of ingredients, some of which you may not have known of prior to the meal. The wine list is nicely sized. I was impressed that the white wine came to the table at a good drinking temperature, as virtually all restaurants over chill. Staff were quite knowledgeable and patient with my many questions.1/26/2013 12:00:00 AMSuperb flavors. The smokedSuperb flavors. The smoked bean cassoulet was memorable--delicious. The beet salad and mini duck burgers were wonderful.12/15/2012 12:00:00 AM
