A word from The Wine Bar
The Wine Bar is the outcome of a desire and commitment to create an environment in which people can share a casual evening with friends enhanced by fine wines and superior quality food in a comfortable atmosphere.

The wine list, created by sommelier and owner
Melissa Evans, is a representation of grape varietals, which excel in each wine producing region. The wine list changes frequently and showcases many esoteric and family-owned wineries.

Our menu is a selection of small plates, entrees,
fine cheeses and home-made desserts. We use only the freshest, highest quality ingredients including organic and free-range meats. It is our hope that you choose several items and enjoy the experience of different flavors while sipping one wine or several “tastes” of wines.

Diner Reviews
  • "Drinks are good. Food is not. Waitress is attentive until she wants you to leave. Then rushes you out."

  • "My husband and I had a very nice time at The Wine Bar. I appreciated that many of the entrees were offered in half order (4 oz) servings. My halibut was interesting and nicely presented as was my husband's lamb chops. Eggplant tapanade was very sweet but interesting; wilted kale salad a little too hefty a portion. Nice bottle of wine, nice service."

  • "While the exterior looks like a townhouse on Washington Square, the interior downstairs is very modern. We could not see the main floor since we were ushered downstairs instead. It is more like a basement than a cellar, with dark tones of gray and stone flooring. it had a cold look that did not complement the food. Service was by college girls who did not coordinate their effort. For this I blame poor staff management. Lamb and halibut were perfectly cooked but staff did not know who got what dish, so we had to play the old game of identifying our dishes - and there were only three of us. This is never done in restaurants of this calibre. Poor service took away from high quality dishes."

  • "We have always enjoyed the Wine bar but this time it seemed more special. The food, the drinks ,our server, the weather and the marvelous piano player all added to a great finish to a perfect day to night in Saratoga. This restaurant is a gem-don't overlook it!"

  • "My family lives locally here and I came from out of town from NYC to visit and we requested by the window and not only was that not accommodated (which happens sometimes it is Track Season afterall), it was the fact of how disgustingly rude the manager and more the owner was. Never have this experience at the Crown Grill (amazing cocktails) or Chianti (great wine highly recommend). Not an apology, nothing. Just a sour puss face (with her dog inside...health violation?) and rude. Good luck getting business in the winter when it is dead and you are nasty to the locals."

  • "Good if unimaginative food. Earnest service but one had to request items rather than being offered them. Two attempts were necessary to get bread and another to get butter or olive oil for the bread. As on previous occasions when we booked through Open Table, our seating was in the less desirable basement dining room which often feels like exile in Siberia. On this occasion it was a fairly lively spot due to the crowds in town for the races. Noise was problematic and the piano player (playing very old standards) added to the noise problem."

  • "Great food, attentive service, fun people watching on Broadway, choice of small plates, nice menu variety"

  • "Table of four enjoyed all our meals which consisted to the two scallop specials with a pineapple/cilantro rice and a large and small order of the tenderloin. We started with the Mediterranean sampler which was small but flavorful. Our only comment was that there was no bread on the table, for a full meal I think that should be a given..."

  • "Food was awesome once we got it. Took 1 1/2 hrs to get food. Took 1 hr to get an iced tea. Every wine we picked on list was not available. It's a shame because the food was outstanding but the service was horrible!"

  • "My meal was perfection. Nice peaceful atmoshpere and never rushed by the servers. A great offering of wines."

  • "We go often. Unique menu and great wines. Entrees come in both full and half sizes so makes it great for late dining. Great cheese course. A small outside dining on the street that is quite nice and cozy. Al in all a great place to eat."

  • "We met friends there and we had a great time. The appetizers were good while the entrees were excellent. Our waitress was friendly, knowledgable and very efficient. The only negative was the bartender. He seem to have an attitude and wasn't very friendly. However, we ate at a table so he wasn't involved in our experience after we got our drinks at the bar. There is also a smoking room but it doesn't effect your dining experience."

  • "We have been to the Wine Bar many times and have always been pleased. Our last visit last week was a disappointment. Wine we ordered was out of stock, no flat bread before meal and no substitute offered and finally a 20 minute wait for our meal. We plan on returning again soon hoping last week was just a bad memory."

  • "We frequent the place a lot for drink and never think to dine there. Food is fantastic as well as the presentation. Menu is well done with a good variety of dishes. If you don't eat there you are missing a great meal. Prices are reasonable also."

  • "Everything was very good: the service, the food and the ambiance. Very "active" bar. A fun place with a nice crowd!"

  • "This is a pretty restaurant, sleek and simple decor that stands out in a town filled to the brim with busy, and sometimes well-worn, restaurants. The staff was friendly and attentive; our waiter professional. The menu is small (this is, after all, a wine bar), but sufficient. I had an asparagus appetizer which was very good - the asparagus was cooked perfectly, although the mayonnaise-based sauce was a little bland. Gnocchi, for my main course, was tasty, but just a touch oily. It seemed as though the chef re-heated the gnocchi by sauteing in just a tad too much butter. Even with appetizer-sized portions, I was satisfied with the amount of food served. Even so, we'll return to this appealing decor, good wine and well-chosen music."

  • "It was a great experience overall. We chose the restaurants because they had 2 sizes on most dishes. The smaller size was great for most diners. Our wait staff was fantastic. "

  • "Another excellent dining experience at the Wine Bar. We decided on going tapas style, with several items to nosh on. All the food was excellently prepared and delicious, albeit the selections were all a bit precious in size. Our waiter did quite a good job, especially in light of the fact that he was the only one handling the entire (and full) restaurant."

  • "Wine bar is really nice, great service , nice atmosphere and food was delicious! Only disappointment was the portion sizes were so small!! We spent a lot of money and while we enjoyed the food , we went home hungrey even having dessert!!"

  • "We have been meaning to try The Wine Bar, but it was always so busy during the summer season. We found a less busy weekday evening in Autumn. A great "go to" place for dinner or just several appetizers and to try some great glasses of wine."

  • "This place was perfect for a wonderful tapas-y dinner. Food and service were both great! Our reservation was well-handled. And Monday night was perfect for a quiet romantic time."

  • "I've been dining here for years and the food is consistently excellent. The food is freshly prepared and seasonal, so there isn't a huge menu. Of course, it is known for its wine list, and there is an abundant selection of wines by the glass if you don't want a whole bottle. You can order a selection of appetizers and small plates if you like to sample more dishes; many of the appetizers are also available in an entree size, but I find the smaller one sufficient. The salads are also excellent. The service is very friendly, don't be put off by the sophisticated décor."

  • "We came because the wine list appealed to my husband. We were pleased to discover excellent food. Everything we ordered was great in terms of quality of ingredients and preparation. The half portions offered were just the right size for us."

  • "The Wine Bar is a dependable downtown spot. Reasonable wine by the glass and small plates and entrees to share. The staff was very friendly and helpful, very apologetic when there was a short delay seating us."

  • "Not really a full restaurant - it really is a wine bar with a great wine selection but relatively limited food menu. Great for a glass of wine and a bite."

  • "Absolutely loved this place. Wonderful wine list with 1/2 glass tastes available along with some fabulous food. Service was great."

  • "Great wine, appetizers and dinner too! Have the tastes if wine - half glass. Wonderful hummis and outstanding cheese. Had steak and salmon too. Loved this place!"

  • "Food / Wine was good but the service needs to be greatly improved! It took nearly 2.5hours for our food to arrive, despite of repeatedly reminding them. We waited nearly 30mins for our first glass of wine."
    Dined on 8/10/2013
  • "The food was fine, and our server was ok, but for a wine bar the wine selection was mediocre. Moreover, management allowed far too many tables to be in use compared to the number of servers and the ability of kitchen and bar staff to handle the volume. Every table in our section left unhappy, which is understandable when it takes 30 Minutes to get a cocktail and an hour to be served food after placing an order. If the managers limited the tables to what they could handle, it might have been pleasant. As it was, there are too many other great restaurants in the area, so I won't be returning to this one."

  • "Party of four had dinner at the wine bar on a Saturday night. Waitress was very attentive. When we couldn't make up our minds regarding wine choice she brought several to sample. Food was very good, beef was prepared exactly as ordered. The only complaint was the noise level-A bit loud for easy conversation. Other than that it was a great dining experience."

  • "Always a fun place with good wine, good food and good people watching."

  • "I would recommend this place for wine and appetizers. That seems to be their specialty. We also had dinner which was just okay. The dinner plates seemed to be just larger appetizer portions. It is in a nice, old building and has a patio on the sidewalk. The restaurant does offer $3 tasting glasses which was fun to try."

  • "The Wine Bar is always a good choice and this visit went as expected: Food was just OK, but not over-priced. Great wait-staff and hostesses, very attentive and friendly. The wine and atmosphere are the draw, and they deliver."

  • "Great appetizers and wine...we went for a start to the night and it was perfect.....very friendly staff, young, but well attentive and the apps were great. Not a crazy full wine list, but some good staple wines and some interesting different one you may not know but enjoy..."

  • "Our family of 8 had a great meal at this restaurant. We shared a variety of interesting appetizers and cheese platters, so we really appreciated that the menu offered "small plate" options for most of the entrees. Our waiter Nick was very patient with us, and the service overall was attentive without being obtrusive. The wine list was extensive and in addition to by the bottle and by the glass, smaller tasting portions were available. We were seated in the lower level of the restaurant, which was attractive and comfortable; the outdoor patio, which had smaller tables, would be a great place to people-watch."

  • "very little selection of premium wines by the bottle or glass. service was unorganized and the kitchen is slow, had to wait 45 minutes for an appy !! everyone running around trying to help and nothing getting done. the food was good however it did little to appease the mediocre service !!"

  • "The Wine Bar is Saratoga Springs' best kept secret. The food was delicious and so well prepared, and the wine list was thorough and offered a variety of quality selections. The atmosphere works for any occasion. A celebratory dinner or romantic date? The Wine Bar is the place to go. Or would if you're simply looking to enjoy a class of wine or a cigar with your scotch, there's a place for you at the Wine Bar as well. Most people are thrown off by the name - why would we go there for the food? But don't be fooled, the Wine Bar serves wonderful dishes that compliment their wine list."
