We have been to the Vintage for
dinner a number of times, this was the first time we have gone there for lunch, but I promice it will not be the last."
Dined on 2/28/2014
Imagine dining in a restored
pullman car. Just a great restaurant with good food."
Dined on 2/24/2014
Remember riding the rails when you
were very young and going to the dining car? Not many people do, especially living on the left coast, but I remember my grandparents taking me on the Nancy Hanks from Atlanta to Savannah - and still remember the dining car. If they had piped in sound of the wheels going over the tracks, it would have been perfect. A great evening out."
Dined on 2/22/2014
The restaurant, or at least the
part we sat in, is in an old railroad car. We found the décor pleasing. Food was excellent, the service was excellent. We were there for our anniversary and got a very nice dessert with a happy anniversary message on it."
Dined on 2/17/2014
I thought the food was just o.k.
leaning to poor. My filet mignon was salty or over spiced, I asked for Hollendaise and it was not served, the waiter took the blame graciously, but when I used the Hollendaise it was odd tasting. Others at my table had Sea Bass and it was undercooked, overall just very dissapointed. They did have a lovely dessert that was presented for a Birthday celebration and it was very good. The waiter was fine and attentive and his service was professional. Will not return however, just not good food, at least not for the price. They also served the wrong potatoes with one meal and then came out later with the correct order."

From the moment George, our
waiter, greeted us, I knew this was to be a great experience. The food was absolutely perfect as was the service and ambience."
Dined on 2/13/2014
This entire restaurant is amazing.
I bought my deal through Travelzoo and it gave me so much for my money. The food is amazing and the wine list is great too. Eating in the sleeping car of an old school train is the coolest expereience. The wait staff seems very knowledgable of the history behind the train and is very professional as well. I have not sat at the bar yet but hear that it is really fun as well."

This is really a great find. A
converted Pulmann Car from the 20's. Atmosphere is perfect and the food is great."
Dined on 1/26/2014
We love this restaurant. For a
special occasion or just a great meal. Not noisy like other restaurants today. Always great service. We had a small problem with a portion of our meal. It was corrected quickly and with the best of attention. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are going to try and have a conversation and do not want to scream your words!"

Food is prepared fresh and
delivered hot to the table. Service is excellent. Todd is very attentive and knows how to pair wine with any dish!"

This place has a great location,
cool atmosphere, what could be better than eating in a converted train car at a train depot right? Staff was very attentive, but sadly this is a RESTAURANT and the most important thing is the food, which was not good. My wife had a New York steak that truly was one of the worst steaks she has ever had in a restaurant. it was extremely difficult to distinguish the bits of meat from the substantial gristle. Chewy was an understatement. Asked for medium, slight cool red center, came originally steak tartar.... came back cooked correctly the second time but far too difficult to negotiate the edible from the inedible. It was a New York for goodness sakes, hard to get a bad New York. Stick with Costco beef."

This was our first dining at this
terrific restaurant and all went very well. The six of us took the train from Anaheim to San Juan Capistrano for New Years Eve Dinner and pleasure. Could not have picked a classier place with it's decor, service, food, and personell. Great menu and the food was , wine list, and cocktails. And thanks to the owner, Matthew Timmes, for his hospitality, caring, and helpfulness in making our evening one to remember. We had a departure train time of 10:36 pm, and had an hour and a half to kill before leaving SJC, and Matthew was kind in seating us at a table for the time. We had a drink and listened to the great band and danced. All of us would highly recommend this restaurant, and we will be back again. Thanks."

Recommended to me by a couple
friends... now I know why. The setting was very well put together. The service was exceptional and the food was outstanding both in taste and presentation. Even had a table side visit from the manager. I compliment the whole staff on this memorable visit.!"
Dined on 12/21/2013
Part of the restaurant is a real
Pullman car that has been maticulusly restored. The and service is very good. We will be back soon."
Dined on 12/29/2013
Food was excellent Appetizers were
fabulous! The train car dessert was yummy!"
Dined on 12/27/2013
We enjoy watching the hustle and
bustle of the train traffic from a relaxed and comfortable vantage point. Highly recommend the lobster, artichoke hearts, and twice baked potato. For a more intimate experience, try the dining car."
Dined on 12/19/2013
Only thing wrong was the coffee
was cold and they had to keep warming it for us."
Dined on 12/12/2013
Excellent food, service and
ambiance, all in a real, old but refurbished, railroad car, located at the San Juan Capistrano train station, with immediately adjacent free parking, and just a few blocks from the 5 freeway. I am "a local" and this is clearly one of the best finds in South Orange County."
Dined on 12/1/2013
Nice Restaurant, very good
service, a bit pricey for the food. The food is good, but not great. A place I would go to once every six months."

Decided to go out for Thanksgiving
this year when family came into town. We had a fantastic individual plate (no buffet), traditional Thanksgiving meal complete with pumpkin pie. Seeing the trains go by while we ate entertained all of us. Kid friendly and the kids menu folded into a train!! My 3 yr old was thrilled. Can't recall our waiter's name, but he was very friendly and attentive. The whole staff appeared to be pretty happy! I definitely recommend for dates and family. Looked like they had more private dining for couples."
Dined on 11/28/2013
When you are tired of sitting in a
restaurant that has no distinction, ambiance, or want a charming walk around the area before dinner, this is your place."
Dined on 11/28/2013
THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING-LOVED THE
TROUT AND THE BEAN SOAP WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! EVERYTHING WAS GREAT EXCEPT THE TWO LOUD ONE'S NEXT TO US BUT THEY LEFT AND IT WAS A TERRIFIC EVENING---THEY HACE THE BEST DESERTS. GIVE IT A TRY"

Great service and good food .
Great for a special occasion . A fun place ."
Dined on 10/28/2013
Vintage is a unique restaurant
with decent food and service. When service came it was wonderful but there was a long period of absence of service. The dessert presentation was amazing. Little details were missed such as food but no utensils. I liked this place but I was also a little frustrated at times having to wait for service for an extended length of time without service. I was never asked if I wanted coffee with my dessert. I will return and try their regular menu and to give them another chance because I could actually like this place. I am hopint that it will be a better experience when I am a regular menu customer and not a pre-fixe menu customer."

Had a great time, food was
wonderful!!! Had dinner there for a birthday and they did a lovely dersert for the birthday girl. I would recommend to anyone wanting a special dinner place."
Dined on 10/19/2013
Everything was pretty good- except
for the steak. Unfortunately, it is a steak house and no ones steak at the table was great or cooked right."
Dined on 10/13/2013
This place is great! Good food,
great service and ambiance... Only thing missing this time was the live Jazz band playing... We were told it's been a few weeks without it. I really hope they get a band back, because it made a great difference for this place."
Dined on 10/12/2013
We had eaten here a year ago and
enjoyed it, but we were very disappointed this time. The lobster bisque was the worse I have ever tasted, it had a really strange flavor. The steak tasted almost sour and everything was over seasoned and salty. I do not mind paying higher prices for good quality food but in this case the cost was not reflected in the quality. The service was excellent and the ambience is very good, but we will not be returning"

Went to the Vintage for a weekly
date night with my husband. Reservation was for 6:30pm, so we definitely beat the dinner rush and got a beautiful seat next to the large windows in the main dining room (next time we'll probably request to sit in the train car, since I've heard it's a unique experience). I can't speak for my husband's meal, but he ate the whole thing, so it must not have been bad. My meal was amazing! I had the venison with a side of red potatoes. The meat was wonderfully tender and tasty, served in a very delicious berry sauce. We ended our meal with the peanut butter crème brulee, which was fantastic. Will definitely be coming back in the future for sure."

This restaurant is unique in every
way. The food was delicious, the service excellent, the ambience superb. What a fun time! What a special experience."
Dined on 10/10/2013
The eggs benedict were good.
Custom Omelet was also good. Service was terrible. Inattentive and didn't refill coffees. He brought check and never returned. Saw him in the bar and then outside talking with another waiter."
Dined on 10/12/2013
The food at the Vintage Steakhouse
was amazing. We had steaks that were expertly prepared with a selection of delicious sauces available. The vegetable & potato sides were also done to perfection. I would recommend the profiteroles and peanut butter brulee (the best) but leave the lemon tart in the kitchen. The service was good, but not excellent. It seemed as if they were short staffed and we had to ask several times for water, butter and a sauce that we were lacking. Someone must have made a mistake thinking that it was okay to warm rolls in the microwave & a few minutes later they were hockey pucks. Not all of the rolls were this way, just a few. I'll definitely go back again, given the opportunity because the good far outweighs the bad."

A hidden gem in touristic San Juan
Cap. Limited menu that focuses on farm fresh cuisine. Top notch staff that were kind, attentive, but not intrusive. Excellent spot, quite and reserved, but not pretentious."
Dined on 9/27/2013
Walking into the Vintage
Steakhouse was like a brief escape back in time. The décor and ambiance made you feel as if you were transported to the luxurious 1920’s. The staff was amazing and the food incredible! Highly recommended for any special occasion."

We spent the night in Dana Point,
and had a lovely dinner at The Vintage Steakhouse. The food was delicious. My prawn meal was some of the best seafood I ever had!"
Dined on 9/20/2013
The staff was very frendly. they
made us feel at home."
Dined on 9/15/2013
Came here for an anniversary
dinner. They had a nice selection of wines and appetizers. Limited menu, and Steaks were a bit less than we expected. Slightly long wait for food, but the waiter was very apologetic and included champagne and dessert for our celebration. They wrote "Happy Annisveray" in icing on the plate of our Cream-Puff Train Dessert. It was a nice touch... and the unique spelling added a great laugh and memory to the evening! Went to the bar afterwards for a late night drink. They have a wonderful bartender that offers great pours on scotch!"
