A word from The Veranda at the Kahala Resort
Relax in the romantic ambience of old Hawaii. A perfect meeting place for afternoon tea or cocktails with live jazz entertainment in the evening.

Designed in classic plantation style, The Veranda takes patrons back to another time when life was more leisurely and meeting with friends for tea and conversation was a daily affair. The comfortable lounge overlooks the Dolphin Lagoon with a choice of both indoor and al fresco seating. Large, upholstered chairs are perfect for lingering over a cocktail or just escaping with a good book, as palm leaf motifs and island-inspired furnishings transport you to that other time.

Our Afternoon Tea is a tradition, after a day out discovering Oahu. It is also a popular venue for special occasions and showers. Afternoon Tea includes your choice of Harney & Sons Tea or 100% Kona Peaberry coffee with pastries.

Diner Reviews
  • "Did research for location to have afternoon tea. Checked Waikiki locations, but Kahala Hotel was the most affordable. Yes, that's correct they were affordable. The location and service was excellent. When they first brought out the food, I thought I'm not going to be full. Towards the end, I was full. Recommend the Bangkok tea. Didn't like the macaroons, they should instead put a cookie. Will return in the future."

  • "We enjoyed our stay at the Veranda Restaurant. It's a wonderful place for high tea. Lots of choices for tea and sweets and savories. It was nice and cool being outside on a hot day."

  • "Really enjoyed Sunday night jazz at the Veranda - Joshua Kaye trio was great, as always. Very pretty room and the onion soup was very good."

  • "Porcelain need to be renewed and tea food was quiet disappointing out of proportion to a reputation of hotel and overpriced."

  • "My wife and I really enjoyed spending Valentine at the Veranda. The menu was small, food was very good, and the waitress was very pleasant. We really enjoyed the live music. I would recommend the Veranda for a casual evening or just drinks."

  • "The music was awesome! The best part of the restaurant. The food was good- not amazing. A VERY small menu. Steak, chicken, fish, spaghetti or a burger. Small sushi menu. Only a few appetizers and desserts available. Our waitress was awesome, wish I remembered her name so I could give her a shout out. Personally I wouldn't go here again for the food, however, drinks and ambiance absolutely."

  • "Perfect place to bring your mom to a proper afternoon tea with a Hawaiian twist. The hotel has Dolphins and the practice their routines with the trainers around tea time - it's wonderful afternoon entertainment while enjoying tea."

  • "Kelly, the manager was the only one that was ever nice to us. We go there to see "David", the singer. We always gave the wait staff the benefit of doubt that they might have had a "bad day." However, after 6 times, we call it quits. Kelly saved our New Years when our waitress went on break and took over. We love David, but it's not enough to put up with the expensive lousy food and service."

  • "No veggie options! Only spaghetti marinara, which is not something I expect to eat when we're am eating out. However the live music was great and made up for it."

  • "We arrived at the Kahala too late for dinner so went to the bar for a drink out first night in Hawaii. The music by David at the piano was so enjoyable we chose the Veranda for dinner the next night because the menu looked good and we wanted to hear the music again. The cocktails (Jamaican My-tai and Pimm & Proper) were addicting, and the food and service excellent. The music, mostly classic standards with a little Michael Jackson thrown in, was superb. The kitchen is the same as Hoku next door and the food is well prepared and delicious. This is a casual relaxing alternative to the pricier restaurants at the Kahala."

  • "The Kahala is a beautiful hotel and Sunday and Monday night jazz at the Veranda is a treat. They have an assortment of very nice small dishes at fairly reasonable prices and a good selection of wines by the glass. I had a sushi and sashimi plate, which was fresh and delicious, and my husband had the short rib tempura and potatoes, which he enjoyed as well. The jazz was outstanding. We will be back often."
