  • "I really enjoyed the food and the service at this restaurant. Desserts could be improved, but both my branzino and the octopus appetizer were great."

  • "Great complex interesting food! Nice ocean view. Great for our 40th anniversary. Try the corn soup and cheesecake brûlée!"

  • "Our party of four picked different entrees (beef, fish, shellfish) and everything was wonderfully prepared and presented. We picked a 5:15 p.m. seating to assure that we would get a window table, but I would suggest a later seating (closer to sunset) to avoid having to wear sunglasses (or squint) during the meal. The bar downstairs was a wonderful place to meet with a nice selection of rye bourbons. Parking is a problem because the parking meters near the restaurant have a 2-hour limit and you will be ticketed for re-feeding the meter. Public parking (that allows 3-hours parking AND re-feeding the meter) is located 4-5 blocks away. All things considered, a great meal ... but a tad high on the pricepoint."

  • "I've been toThe Strand House several times now, and the food and service never fail to amaze me. It made sense when I found out that the chef used be the chef at Aqua in SF where I had the pleasure of dining many times. The hamachi appetizer is fresh and the sauce is zesty. We ate the chorizo scramble and it was suberb. The view is amazing. I will be back!!!"

  • "We went for an anniversary dinner. The service was perfect and the view is gorgeous. Champagne and dessert were on the house. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I look forward to our next visit."

  • "I have wanted to try the Strand House's food since it opened (knowing its cocktails were great at night), and the brunch was fantastic. The homemade cinnamon bun was amazing (homemade cinnamon bun with buckets of frosting and maple bacon ice cream on the side). It was so indulgent, but it was incredible. The rest of the food was great as well. Many of us cleared our plates (which aren't small portions). Also the restaurant was really accommodating when I had to change my size and time of reservation. I would love to go back and hopefully will have occasion to soon!"

  • "Sunday brunch was great. The food is wownderful and the staff is viery professional and friendly. We're always made to feel special. The cinnamon roll was to die for. Really."

  • "The Strand exceeded my expectations both in service and food last Saturday. The front reception scored points by accommodating my request for an outdoor table. We enjoyed a nice sunset view while dining. Our waiter was perfect ... knowledgeable about drinks and menu, there when needed, otherwise, invisible. Draft beer selection is interesting. Kale Caesar was excellent, large enough to share. My hanger steak was surprisingly delicious, and I'll get it again. The dessert options looked creative, tempting and highly caloric. The Strand is one of few MB restaurants with a great ocean view. Although they can probably rely on that alone to keep their tables full, they care about keeping the food quality top notch, and I appreciate that."

  • "Beautiful restaurant. Gorgeous views overlooking the pier. AMAZING food. Had the chicken and waffles and a mojita frescita sooo good!"

  • "Our party of 4 had an outstanding experience at The Strand House. The hostess was phenomenal in seating us at a corner table overlooking the Pacific. The waiter was friendly and helpful but not overbearing. The food was exceptional. We ordered the a fish dish and the pork chops. Both were cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the assorted ice creams and sorbets. Overall, we highly recommend The Strand House for the food, service and ambiance/view of the Pacific."

  • "The restaurant, food, and especially view were spectacular. My only complaint is parking in the area is terrible. Otherwise, I will be going there again and often"

  • "Our last night in Ca., after spending a week with our son & family was finalized with a wonderful romantic anniversary dinner at The Strand. From making a last minute reservation to the the attentive service of your staff right down to help choosing a nice CA., wine, we where made to feel special. We will certainly be back to The §trand on Manhattan Beach on our next visit. Thanks to our son & wife for the recommendation."

  • "While the restaurant is beautiful and well situated and other patrons' food looked great, I ordered the fish tacos. The fish was exceptionally dry and barely warm and it was only served in a limp tortilla with a few shreds of lettuce on top. So dry I could barely eat it - even with the sauce I poured on top. There should have been pico de gallo and avocado or anything else to make it palatable. Also it was served with potato chips rather than beans. Chips were good, but they would have gone better with a tuna sandwich."

  • "Amazing food and amazing views. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. You can park and the beach walk the pier and then have dinner."

  • "It's marvelous to know that Manhattan Beach has finally garnered some great restaurants and The Strand House falls into that category. The food was marvelous, the service fantastic and ambience chic without being stuffy. And, really, how could one not love the environment since the restaurant is situated right at the west of Manhattan Beach Blvd., adjacent to the pier offering a scenic vision of the beach and water. My big issue is the noise factor. There is no rating for bad acoustics & so loud you can't hear the party cross the table. Come on guys...energetic? Please..You need a rating that includes something close to obnoxious & out of control. Don't go here if you're expecting a romantic evening unless you can rent the whole place."
    Dined on 7/23/2014
  • "Our only complaint would be the noise level during first half or our lunch was very loud after 2:30pm it was wonderfully quiet."
    Dined on 7/23/2014
  • "This is the only place with a view. We had dinner here as the sun set. Could not ask for a better location. The food was very good. They have nice and unique choices. I had the yellow fin tuna and my friend had the wild board pizza. Both were very good. Prices are a little high, but between the food and the view it is worth it. I highly recommend this place."

  • "I have eaten here multiple times with my wife and with out of towers and everyone is impressed by the setting but also the food is very well prepared and is getting better as each years passes. Great food, atmosphere and staff. Highly recommend"

  • "Went for Dine LA Restaurant Week for lunch and the food was delicious and the table outside facing the pier was heaven. The service was friendly But what ruined the whole experience was extremely slow service. I had 2 hours on the meter thinking it was plenty of time to hang out after lunch and barely made it back in time. It was towards the end of lunch so they weren't that busy either. If I hadn't said something about how long everything was taking who knows how much longer I would have been there, especially for lunch!"

  • "I couldn't have asked for a better evening! We had a reservation at 730 and we were sat right away on the patio with an amazing view. Our server Rick was awesome and didnt rush us at all which allowed us to have a great experience. The food and drinks are awesome! We got the steak for two for $105 and it was more than enough food for us. Even the manager came and checked on us and we felt really well taken care of. It was our first time here and we were very impressed. Definitely would recommend this restaurant!"

  • "Can't Beat the Weather and the food and service were great too. Fabulous location and friendly staff."
    Dined on 7/6/2014
  • "Outside dining was great with a view of the ocean. At the time of dining, area was not crowded so noise level was good. When it is busy, I would imagine it would not be a great place to really carry on a conversation. The tables are so close to each other and there would be no privacy when they are all filled. I ordered corned beef hash and eggs which was good. Although it didn't wow me because of hollandaise sauce (just not crazy about it), the portion size was huge and I could not finish it. Next time, I'll try lunch or dinner."

  • "Great place to take friends from out of town. The Margaritas are awesome. Both my friend and I had the seabass...Amazing! We were asked to move tables to accommodate a larger party coming in, but the manager was really great about it and moved us to a nice corner table by the window overlooking the ocean. He also got us all a round of drinks on the house and two of their best desserts...I don't remember the name of the deserts (3 margaritas in), but one had a semifredo that was perfection, and the other was accompanied by an incredible lime sorbet. This place was lively, tons of people at the bar and tables were full, even at 10pm. Def make a reservation a day or two in advance!"

  • "My wife and I went to the Strand House for the first time last Saturday. We are not regulars to the high end food scene, so we had a few questions as to the unusual menu items. We took some risks and tried some new items. We had pork belly for an appetizer. I had the "Prime" pork chop--the numerous flavors caused my taste buds to dance magically. Everything we ate was delectable! Of course the view of the Manhattan Beach coastline was an added bonus."

  • "We booked this location for its atmosphere and view...looked like a perfect place for a nice, romantic dinner for two. HOWEVER, its NOT romantic at all!!! The two party tables are squished together to almost a 4 person table to fit more tables by the windows. Most of the clientele are people coming right from the beach in their cover-ups and very casual attire. We were over dressed for sure in our jeans and nice shirts...after-all, we were expecting a little more up-scale atmosphere. The service was good and so was the food. You will definitely be glad you ate there."

  • "My wife and I decided last-minute to casually celebrate our anniversary with a nice early dinner. I had heard of The Strand House never been, so booked a reservation that morning on-line for a 5pm dinner. I requested a booth and was accomodated with pleasure. We arrived early and enjoyed a Weingut Reisling at the lower bar. We were sat promptly for dinner, our server was very pleasant and engaging. My wife had the Branzino and I the Prairie Fresh Pork Chop. We finished with the Petite Glazed Donuts. Dinner and dessert were fantastic! Best anniversary dinner ever."

  • "We stopped in for brunch after arriving back from a business trip. We aren't on the westside often, so took advantage of it. Showed up early for the reservation and they seated us pretty quick. Got the most amazing table in the front corner with a great view of the MB Pier. Was wonderful atmosphere. Food was fine. Not as spectacular as the view, however certainly solid....and frankly the view was hard to top in any way. A little pricey however anytime you get that wonderful of a view and atmosphere you have to expect to pay for it a bit. Everything costs more when you are looking at the ocean! All in all a great Sunday morning after being on a plane from the East Coast. Was nice to be back home!"

  • "The food was delicious, although the menu was a little over-wrought. The view is spectacular, and the restaurant itself was beautiful. It's true there isn't a bad seat. However, the prices were spectacular as well. So, it served its purpose as a special-occasion spot, where those who didn't pay the bill went away happy."
