A word from The Stanton Social
Chef/owner Chris Santos has teamed up with Tao owner Richard Wolf, Peter Kane originally of Double Happiness and Happy Ending, and the James Beard 'Best New Restaurant Design' award winning firm AvroKo, to create the newest 'jewel' of Manhattan's Lower East Side.

The design of this three level hot spot tips it's hat to the neighborhood’s garment history and offers diners a culinary odyssey. All menu items are designed for sharing, offering guests a chance to experience multiple dishes and flavors throughout their meal. In addition to its 120 seats, The Stanton Social offers a raw bar, a lounge and the hippest new bar in New York City. Dishes range from $7 - $18 each.Continued

  • "Ordered drinks that never came and waiter literally never came back for us and assisted other parties before us, terrible service"

  • "I had heard great things about this place and I wasn't disappointed. Apart from the decor and ambiance being well suited for a date night, the food was phenomenal: The food was fantastic: French Onion Soup Dumplings (Probably the best out of the 4) Potato & Goat Cheese Pierogies Red Snapper Tacos Chicken n Waffles The cocktails were great as well. I had the strawberry fields and my date had the Blood Orange-Jalapeño Margarita (only get it if you love spicy food/drinks)."

  • "Had a great dinner with a friend on her birthday, ordered lots because there are so many fantastic options, each one was incredible! Especially the tuna poke wontons! Fun, vibrant spot in my favourite Manhattan neighbourhood."

  • "Extremely noisy, bathroom line forever, tables too close. Cheese stunk up the whole place. Lobster rolls ok, lamb gyro ok, sliders ok. The rest NO good. Ribs taste like desert(why??) screwed them up royaly. What a shame. And no salad, not one. Crossing them out of my book"

  • "We arrived early on a Saturday morning for brunch with a couple from out of town. It took us over 10 minutes just to get water. After ordering drinks, it took another 20 minutes for them to arrive. When the waiter finally returned we were able to order our food. Food delivery took much less time and was amazing. The gentleman bussing the tables did a great job and kept the table clear. We ended up ordering another round of drinks that never even showed up! While we enjoyed the food and spending time together, we will not be returning to the Stanton Social until we know that service has improved."

  • "Everything I ate at this restaurant was incredible. The staff basically ignored us and no one asked if we liked any of our dishes."

  • "This place was the perfect spot to celebrate my fiancé's birthday. The food was amazing, there wasn't a single menu item we didn't love. We ordered a lot of small plates to share and it was perfect."

  • "The food was outstanding and so was our server. I definitely would recommend it; however, make sure you are NOT seated upstairs in the bar area where it is noisy and people coming and going, as it is the waiting area until their tables are ready downstairs."

  • "This place used to be great. Now its fallen into the typical tourist trap.. Food has gone downhill, seems mass produced and the servers rush you to get their next reservation in. Very dissapointed."

  • "From our first taste, we have been hooked! We have visited NYC six times over the past six months and have eaten at Stanton Social every time! Our family spans three generations, and everyone in our family loves it! We love everything about it, from the high energy atmosphere to every delicious small plate (esp. Onion Soup Dumplings and Snapper Tacos!) We will keep coming back."

  • "Great great service, really good cocktails, couldn't be happier with my experience here. The menu is well structured so that you can get a taste of a bunch of different small plates and the larger ones as well. Highly recommended!"

  • "This is one of our favorite places in the city. The food is always great and the tapas style is great for trying many things with friends."

  • "Service is great, food is amazing, everything is just amazing. Great cocktails too."

  • "Recommended for a brief visit with adult daughter. We called twice on Monday to move back our reservation to 9:45, and they were very accomodating. We were seated immediately downstairs in a booth with a roomy table. It was lively, noisy, but fine. Drinks and leisurely dishes were well timed. Though reviewers call tapas, they are substantial. We followed the servier's advice and had onion soup dumplings and pierogies-- the pierogies were surprising and luscious. The baby spinach salad was ample with interesting "findings" tossed into it. Red snapper tacos were unimpressive, though, spicy but no theme. We look forward to return to try more dishes. An easy walk if you are staying in SOHO."

  • "Went out with my husband for a nice romantic dinner and this really fit the bill. The upstairs bar area was vibrant and fun as we sipped our drinks while we waited for our table. Once we were seated we looked over the substantial menu and we were very happy with our selections. The food was amazing. Great flavors and presentation and we loved the fact that it was Tapas so we got to try a bunch of different things. Even though we were fully stuffed we made room for the warm donuts for dessert and we were not disapppointed."

  • "This wont be a place to find your normal brunch specials, but it will change your mind about what you "normally' get. The menu items were hard to choose from since me and my girlfriends all wanted to try the oreo cookie pancakes. We opted to get 2-3 items each and shared with each other. We were not disappointed in any of our choices and couldn't decide which was our favorite. But,we did decide that the oreo cookie pancakes were the best and something we will be coming back for!"

  • "Excellent tapas/small plate foods. The varieties are endless and you wish you could fit more. We had 5 fit people and we ordered 13 plates plus dessert. We couldn't fit anymore, but we should wish we could."

  • "Excellent food - creative tapas, delicious food, lively scene!"

  • "Fun experience - great food. The staff at Stanton Social was very accommodative (we changed the number in our group twice) and attentive. Our waiter provided great menu recommendations and we tried several of them. The food was eclectic and perfect for sharing at the table. We were able to get in and out with time to spare to get to the theater. Perfect choice!"

  • "When i made the reservation I specifically requested a booth. When I arrived on time for the reservation the maitre de informed me that the booth was only available for an hour. When I tried to explain reservations are not normally timed, he rudely told me to take it our leave it. It was a Saturday and he had not intention of discussing it with me. My friends wanted to try the restaurant so that is the only reason I stayed. I will say the wait staff and food was very good, however the first impression was terrible and I will not be back."

  • "We had a reservation for two at 10:30, but didn't get seated until 11pm (which we expected, considering there was a line out the door.) The staff was very accommodating, directing us upstairs to the bar. The drinks were good and the music was lively. Once we were seated our server was doting, but did not hover. And when we had to wait extra long for our dessert (s'more creme brulee, oh my), they came out and told us it would be free of charge, without us ever saying a word about it. It was crowded, and the noise level was quite high, but what do you expect from a restaurant/bar on the LES on a Saturday night? Oh, and the French onion soup dumplings, so good — and this is coming from a girl that would eat soup everyday if she could!"

  • "Had to climb stairs twice. No attempt to accommodate 67 year old. Drinks awful. Waitress said it was "REQUIRED" we order all menu items together. When questioned, she said suggested and took our order but came back 5 minutes later to finish. Basically they want you to spend a certain amount of money up front. Only grace was food great. Onion soup, shrimp and grits, chicken tapitas best. mediocre items: meatballs, chicken and waffles (which looked and tasted like breaded nuggets). Only good drink was root beer shot. As we were about to leave, hostess told us large party needed area. She offered free drinks at lounge as a comp. As we left I saw a party at our table, asked if they were with group and they said NO. Not returning."

  • "This place is really nice, and the food is excellent. Good music and atmosphere. The only complaint I have is the loud music. They can afford to turn it down a few notches so you can at least hear the conversation at the table."

  • "Great food but terrible service and atmosphere. They make you wait upstairs in a cramped expensive bar before table is ready."
    Dined on 6/20/2014
  • "The food was very good. The atmosphere was extremely loud so if you are trying to have a meaningful conversation with the person across the table, this restaurant is not the place. If you are looking for a hip place to have dinner with a few friends, then it would work great."

  • "It's noisy but the food was great and our waitress was attentive. I especially liked the meatballs and spanakopita."

  • "Came here with my husband, my 2 kids, my sister and mother. Place is very busy. Hostess was not the friendliest but she had our table ready within 5 min (I made reservations). Waitress was ok. She explained how the menu works and also had good recommendations for both the food and drinks. It is a very small place. They seat as many as they can at a table. We were a group of 6 in a booth and my husband had to sit on the outer part of table. Ppl and severs getting by is tricky..other than that, everything we ordered was very good. Don't think you can make a wrong choice when ordering. I would recommend this place and I would definitely come back."

  • "Food very overpriced for its quality.Been to several tapas places in NYC and this one features hipness rather than food.. Can't compare to others in Lower East side."

  • "We booked a week in advance and were given a small table which was sandwiched between two others. The waitress could not stand alongside our table and I was continually knocked by waiters bringing food. There was absolutely no space at all - it felt like they crammed us all in to make as much money as possible. The music was loud - very loud. So much so that we had to shout to be heard - the conversation next to us was very interesting given we could hear every word they were shouting so loud. We had 6 items from the menu - all of which were average - the skate and chip was greasy and the tacos tasted of old fish. I was really disappointed and def wont be heading back any time soon. Good for wannabe foodies who like clubbing."

  • "Food was awesome. Very cool ambiance...fun, lounge like....music is definitely loud, can't hear people on far side of table. But, really perfect for big groups, order tapas style, add portions so that everyone gets to try everything. Loved the different tacos...Red snapper tacos and one was Barbacoa tacos yumm! Mint lamb gyros were so cute and delish. Even dessert is tapas: Grasshopper Pudding Bon Bons was my fave. On another note....when you are meeting a large group, it can be complicated, they understand, everyone is sent up to the bar (which is fun)...and once the whole party has arrived...they seat you...In our case, even when it was an hour later!"

  • "Went for an early dinner that lasted about 2 hours. We ate an insane amount of food. The food was excellent. The staff was great. Gets louder and younger as the night goes on. Will be going back again to have the last few menu items we didn't try."

  • "Filling tapas! From the moment we arrived it was 5 star. Friendly welcome! Great service! Amazing food! Energetic music! After 830 or so it did get noticeably louder...but it was manageable. Wasn't crazy about the s'mores dessert, but loved the tuna poke wontons and the fish and chips. Our waiter had great recommendations. With how busy they were-we were never ignored. Can't wait to come back!"

  • "First time at Stanton Social. We were 5 women visiting New York and we all loved the restaurant. The food was delicious and the presentation was very impressive. Everything was very fresh and yummy. It was a very happening place, but the noise level was a bit over the top. Would not recommend for a romantic dinner. Best to go with more people as the dishes are made tapas or sharing style. Would definitely go back."
