A word from The Stanton Social
Chef/owner Chris Santos has teamed up with Tao owner Richard Wolf, Peter Kane originally of Double Happiness and Happy Ending, and the James Beard 'Best New Restaurant Design' award winning firm AvroKo, to create the newest 'jewel' of Manhattan's Lower East Side.

The design of this three level hot spot tips it's hat to the neighborhood’s garment history and offers diners a culinary odyssey. All menu items are designed for sharing, offering guests a chance to experience multiple dishes and flavors throughout their meal. In addition to its 120 seats, The Stanton Social offers a raw bar, a lounge and the hippest new bar in New York City. Dishes range from $7 - $18 each.Continued

  • "Good service with good advice concerning the amount of food we ordered, very good food. Music was a little bit too loud for us."

  • "if you like to share and try a lot of different tastes- this is the place. most all dishes are served family style. there were 6 of us and we were all happy and full. yum!"

  • "We had a great experience at Stanton Social. The menu is creative and it is fun sharing a variety of tastes. They do a great job of packing a lot of flavor into small bites."

  • "Pros: Food is well executed and even simple things like meatballs are done amazingly well. A celery root soup amuse bouche began the meal - a nice touch. The wine list is limited, but has a good variety of price points (Gigondas for $68) was nice). Service was attentive, informative, and friendly -- we had 10 and 12 year olds with us and they were well accommodated (though I do not recommend Stanton Social for most children). Server guided us on portions to ensure all had a taste. Cons: Music was tinny and clubby, which seemed out of place on a Sunday evening at 8:00. It also seemed much louder and annoying because of this. A better genre choice and a drop in the treble would be much more conducive to socializing and dining."

  • "We had a great server and the food recommendations were spot on. The Rosemary Bloody Mary blew my mind. It was so good. We also ordered the Lobster Benedict, Huevos Rancheros Tacos, and the French Onion Soup Dumplings which were such a delicious surprise. Definitely Recommend. You will Love it! Order the donuts!"

  • "I had an amazing dinner here on Sat night. I was visiting NYC and it was recommended by a foodie friend. Every single dish (small plate style with two dishes recommended per person) was exceptional - the French onion dumplings are a speciality. Not sure how you'd classify the restaurant - but everything is impeccable. Service was great, really good atmosphere and good for groups. Make sure to book but there's a cool bar upstairs if you do have to wait. Enjoy"

  • "One of my favorite places to go with friends. Young crowd with great drinks and tapas."

  • "This was my second time at Stanton Social and the food was just as good as I remembered. The French Soup Dumplings are a must try and the Beef Wellington is pretty special. I took some out of town friends and they were suitably impressed. The atmosphere was really lively (if not maybe a little too loud)"

  • "Nice place, food was OK, but the service was just horrible, to the point that I ask for my check, pay and did not tip the waiter. Probably I will give another chance but definately will not recomended before that."

  • "The service must be what this place is known for, more so than the food. Wait staff was superb and extremely professional. Food felt like a step above bar food, with everything served as mini appetizers. It was good, don't get me wrong, but nothing especially earth-shattering. They did remember I had made a birthday request for my fiance, so I was especially pleased that there is strong communication between the receptionist over the phone and notes were made on our reservation and followed through. Another credit to their excellent staff."

  • "Don't miss the salmon.....the spinach salad is fabulous too and not your typical salad. Loved the snapper tacos too. And if you like Perogies, they are not to be missed. This is a fun place with great music and delicious food. Don't miss the pot de creme dessert with the meringue top or the almond cake. For a New York night out with great food, the price is right too!"

  • "Looking forward to try S/S for dinner after such an incredible brunch. They recommend three tapas per person, but two/person did the trick at brunch. French Onion Dumplings were the best. Super trendy cool and original menu and restaurant. Highly recommended."

  • "We had brunch here and it was delicious. The dishes are all meant to be shared, so we ordered about 5-6 for two of us, and it was the perfect amount. The waiter's suggestions were great, and the menu has an excellent mix of sweet and savoury. It was a fun atmosphere, and there were kids, groups and couples there - it's good for pretty much everyone."

  • "Good location. Drinks are expensive... can stop by any bar in the area for cheaper drinks before having dinner here. Wait for booth is longer but probably worth it because the noise level is pretty high. Not great for dates, wonderful for birthday/special occasion but food wasn't great."

  • "Great food, perfect for sharing. Fun and energetic staff, an outstanding atmosphere."

  • "The Stanton Social is an amazing place with emphasis on small plates but high quality ingredients and creative presentation. Really enjoyed our experience as first time visitors from North Carolina and would highly recommend this restaurant. It is definitely a younger crowd 25-35 and maybe that was due to our reservation being on a Friday night...but that did not deter us from thoroughly enjoying the entire dining experience there. Only suggestion is to offer a less expensive house wine option as drink prices were quite steep - even for NYC."

  • "The first time I went to SS, I was a little overwhelmed by the scene, but we went back and were seated upstairs and had an incredible experience. The food was great. It was quite. All good things!"

  • "A friend from work recommended that we went to the Stanton Social and we did not regret this at all - one of the best brunches ever. We had a selection of the various dishes (Tacos, Lobster Roll, Pizetta, Doughnuts and the Oreo Pancakes) - all were perfect sized without being too large or too small. The service was very nice and not intrusive - very glad that we booked a table though as it filled up superquickly."

  • "This place is amazing. The food is incredible. I highly recommend the french onion dumplings! I love that they change their menu every so often but always keep the favorites. Definitely a great place for a birthday and large groups."

  • "Stanton Social offers the cutest and most creative food. Everything comes in maybe 3 bite sizes. However, I found the food to be kind of bland. It's still worth going despite that, though it's so incredibly loud, I couldn't even hear my husband talk from across the table. As a result it was almost a stressful meal. I wouldn't have minded when I was 23y/o, but at 37 I prefer something much more relaxing."

  • "Overall great food super attentive bartenders upstairs while you wait, and the service by the wait staff and food runners was impeccable . I would def. go back maybe on a more low key night if you don't might siting on top of people ( we were lucky to get the table we did , it was tucked in the corner ;)...) and not being able to get up and navigate to the bathroom without body surfing then you'd def be able to handle a weekend night here"

  • "The concept is great - sharing plates and a lot of variety. However, the menu options are so completely unoriginal (why was I encouraged to order the awful french onion dumplings?) and many of the ingredients so stale, that overall the experience was a combination of Taco Bell meets The Olive Garden with an expensive bill in the end. The restaurant was crowded, so I'm sure there is little incentive for change, but the rave reviews are completely unwarranted."

  • "We were a party of 8, they didn't let us sit until we were all 8 people... Kind of uncomfortable. We had excellent food, the waitress was super nice. The music is way too loud. Seriously impossible to talk."

  • "They are a little difficult at the door and the room and lighting are the best thing about the place."

  • "The Stantom Social was recommend to me and was the best meal I've ever had. We had a group of three. We all shared the big sexy burger, baby back ribs, chicken and waffles, shimp and grits, and goat cheese perogies. For dessert, we got s'more creme brûlée and the homemade donuts. (Those are a must!) We had the strawberry field for drinks- amazing. Great service, great atmosphere. I can't say enough about the place!"

  • "Went for Sunday Brunch. Food was great, service good, but restaurant was very crowded and seating was very tight. Packed in like sardines."

  • "I love small plates and when I heard Chris Santos was the King of small plates I knew I wanted to try it. I was not disappointed. There service was great. Everything works so smoothly and efficiently and our server was friendly and fun. But the food is the crown jewel. We picked five dishes and they were all fantastic. I am still thinking about the lobster eggs benedict and the chicken waffles. YUM!!"

  • "good hot spot...feels like you're in a club with food served...can be a bit much if you're not up for it. Service was eeeh, had rezo at 9:30pm but had to wait 15min to get a table. Kind of a cluster...coat check was taking up the good chunk of the front area. Overall was good but just chaotic."

  • "This is a very trendy 'hot' spot. If you're looking to have dinner and actually talk, you won't be able to do that. You are packed in like sardines, you really feel like you are eating in a club. We sat at at a tiny table where my husband was rained on. Yes, you read that right, rained on. It was raining outside and they have a leak. They moved us and then an hour later, when the rain had subsided, they sat another couple. Once the rain were to pick up, they'd get wet too, this didn't seem to matter. Food was good, but not out of this world amazing. It was our anniversary and they gave us a cupcake for it at the end. This gesture was very nice. The only must have- The donuts for dessert! The French onion soup dumplings were really good too."

  • "First time we ate here. We loved the food and our waitress and waiter were great. Can't wait to go back. I have already told friends about it. Our daughter told us about this place. She loved it and kept telling us to go. We were finally in the city and decided to give it a try. We were so very glad we did."

  • "The place has great ambience, perfect for JUST drinks. The food was strictly ok rather bad. We ordered some of the more popular dishes - French onion soup dumpling - quite sad. NEVER order it. Cold onion soupy balls, with crouton n cheese .. The cheese was cold & tough by the time it got to the table. Chicken waffle - bland chicken n waffle.. Very dry chicken with no seasoning. Red snapper tacos - decent flavour but smelling of fish. Pork tacos - decent. Just a piece of pork on soft tacos, no seasoning or sauce to go with it."

  • "We ordered pretty much one of each item for our big group. Everything tasted amazing but I really enjoyed the red snapper tacos."

  • "The service was great. Especially the upstairs bar while waiting for our table to be ready. Once we were seated and ordered food we were disappointed. The soup dumplings were not very good. My date and I fought over who HAD to eat the last one because neither of us wanted it. The ribs were super sweet. As was pretty much every specialty drink option. The scallops (super salty but the risotto balanced it out) were good as were the arepas. Overall, I wouldn't go back. Just not worth it."

  • "The food was wonderful. We only ordered small plates, no main course. It's the same owners as Beauty and Essex, which we love."
    Dined on 3/24/2014
  • "The food was great, but the music is far too loud! I get that it is a vibrant place but when you have to lean in to hear the person next to you it means that you are failing to be social and going out for dinner is a social outing. The other negative is, there are two toilets for an upstair eating/bar area that hosts hundreds of people. If you are unlucky to get the tables by the toilets then you will 'enjoy' your dinner with the queue of people waiting for the toilets...less than ideal!!"
