Diner Reviews
  • "We arrived 15 minutes late because the lot was full in the hotel and we did not use the valet service. It was really dark in the area we sat compared to the other place settings with a little more light. We had to ask for the complimentary bread and had to remind them to bring it to us. My steak was rare instead of medium. I was not able to see my steak too well since it was dark. But I didn't return it and just ate what I could that was cooked medium which was part of the edges. It was just so unfortunate that everytime I was served my water, it did not have much ice like everyone else's on my table. Next time maybe I will ask for a more lit area so that we won't be in the dark."

  • "Beautiful restaurant on the 36th floor with a great view and great service. We had the rib eye steak, filet mignon and miso butterfish. Everything was cooked perfect and tasted amazing. Best rib eye I've had in a very long time and I live in Las Vegas and have have been to many good steak houses. We will definitely be back on our next trip to Hawaii."

  • "The steak was outstanding and cooked to perfection. However, my rack of lamb was a little undercooked. I chose not to send back. I did enjoy the leftovers. The sides of mashed potatoes and mushrooms were excellent. Jazz music was entertaining."

  • "Celebrated our anniversary and we really enjoyed ourselves. Enjoyed a great view, friendly service and delicious food and wine. Quite pricey but Kama`aina discount was a plus."

  • "This restaurant can have such a potential if they can fine tune some areas. First of all, they call itself a steak house, but it is major disappointment that you run out of Porter Steak when the restaurant first opened for dinner at 5 PM. How can be possible? The service was just ok. At times my friend and I were just sitting there and waiting for service. We ordered the creamed spinach as the side. When it was brought to the table, the spinach was sitting in a pool of cream liquid. I have never had it prepared that way. I think the food needs some refinement. The location is great and the veiew was wonderful. The restaurant also has a pianist to surrenade the guests while they are dining."

  • "Dinner was fabulous! For appetizers, we ordered a caesar salad and the delicious seafood tower. For entrees, I had the filet mignon while my husband had the rack of lamb, which were both wonderful! We also ordered sautéed mushrooms, which was mediocre, and a refreshing lilikoi crème brulee for dessert. Oh, and the view was gorgeous! However, parking was terrible. Because we couldn't find parking at Ala Moana Center. we tried to valet park at Ala Moana Hotel, but they were full. We were forced to park in the hotel, which was horrendous for a big truck! We'll probably be back someday, so hopefully the parking will be better next time."

  • "It was a decent meal. The steaks came out first. Then about 3/4 mins later the fries came out followed by another 3-4 mins before the mashed potatoes came out. Would have been nice for all the food to come out together. Service and food was good. Wine is pricey. Compared to other high end steak houses, this restaurant is good. There's others that are better for the price you pay. The view is great tho."

  • "First time to this restaurant, recommended by a casual contact, wasn't sure if it was going to be worth the expense. It was! We had recently spent a week in Lanai enjoying the Four Season restaurants there, but my wife and I agreed that the food and dinning experience we had at Signature was better than at Four Seasons Lanai. We arrived at 6:15 on a Friday and the place was in the rather loud pau hana mood. We were looking forward to a more relaxing atmosphere and I was initially worried, but our table was far from the piano bar, and around 7 the music (which we loved) settled down, and it turned out to be very relaxing and quiet enough (although a bit short of "romantic"). Food and service excellent. Next time we'll arrive later."

  • "Menu selection good, however dessert menu was not updated. Ordered a banana chantilly but was told it was actually a banana cream pie, they didn't change the menu. Had scallops for dinner which I thought was a little overcooked but still very tasty Husband had a prime rib eye steak that seemed a little "dry" for a medium rare order. The lobster bisque was delicious as well as the poke was very fresh. Service seemed a little awkward but friendly staff. And what was truly troubling both to me and my husband was on our way out, a table was placed close to the exit such that we had to move single file past the couple's dinner table to exit the restaurant. Very uncomfortable. Very non-private. I would not have agreed to that table."

  • "This restaurant is worth every penny you're going to pay. From the designated elevator in the lobby,to the window table requested for THE absolute BEST sunset view in Waikiki....food and service are top notch as always. Live piano music in the bar area always a nice plus. You will enjoy the menu of a true steakhouse with the standard shared sides-all excellent-as well as their featured seafood tower. Our party of 4 enjoyed 4 entrees with sides and salads-2 rounds of drinks and averaged out at $100. P/P. The best $ you will spend on an absolutely beautiful evening."

  • "For our anniversary I thought I would take my wife to the Signature Restaurant. It was our first time there and I requested a view. Suffice it to say the restaurant did not disappoint. The table we had, had a spectacular view, and I am so grateful to the staff for granting my request. It made the evening memorable. Although the food was well prepared, I would not rate it the best I've had, but the view and the service was excellent. I will be back."

  • "Asked for scallop appetizer, received scallop entree. We also received the wrong leftovers. Bill was wrong. Had to give my credit card 3 times due to server error. Now I need to check my credit card account to be sure I am only charged once and not 3 times."

  • "While this was the most expensive dinner we have ever had, the food and service were outstanding. My wife's spinach salad was the best she has ever had. My lobster bisque was great. We shared the special 28oz bone-in ribeye and it was superb. I could not afford this often but I don't regret spending that much for very special occasions such as our 30th anniversary."
    Dined on 7/24/2014
  • "We has an assortment of sides and 2 entrees for our table of 4 and everything I had was cooked to perfection. We had the bone-in ribeye and rack of lamb for the entrees. I would highly recommend either choice. The staff was excellent as well. Thanks for a great evening."

  • "The food is overpriced. My lobster bisque was excellent but my scallops were presented in a spicy sauce which masked their delicate flavor. Other guests had steaks but have had better at other steak restaurants. At $50 plus for entrees the food should be outstanding. Our tab, with wine, for 4 was well over $600. We could have a more memorable meal, foodwise, elsewhere, for less. The service was pleasant but there were some hitches."

  • "We were celebrating a birthday and had a great experience. The waiters were wonderful, they made suggestions and let us know when we almost ordered too much food. There was a live piano player who was wonderful and helped to set the mood in the restaurant. Our booth had a great view of waikiki and ala moana boat harbor. Couldn't have asked for anything more, it was the perfect birthday dinner!"

  • "It was the first time for majority of our party dining there and we were excited about the spectacular views. Unfortunately we were given the private wine room, so no views, and felt like we were forgotten. However, when the employees did come into the room, service was excellent."

  • "The service was excellent and the food delicious - the wife and I totally enjoyed celebrating our 44 wedding anniversary at your new restaurant and we look forward to returning with the memories and qualities of the Ala Moana Hotel's Ole Summit Restaurant. Good Luck and hang in there as it should get even better with continued experience striving for full quality and Class! Thank you for the fine memorable evening!"

  • "The food was excellent, but when I asked that my glass of wine be brought to the table with my dinner, we asked 3 of the servers and it appears that the server who was too bring the wine FORGOT and had to be reminded by server #1. It would appear that the wine order to server #1 should have taken care of this and should not have involved waiter #3, who jumped in to assist, when he should have left us to the service of waiter #1. Waiter #2, who was refilling my water, kept asking me if I received my wine and left to tell waiter #3. Other than that the dinner was great to celebrate a special occasion and waiter #1 (great personality and helpful), did present us with his apology and a complimentary dessert for the occasion."

  • "The Signature was fabulous. It was my first time to eat there and the view was spectacular, and food, amazing! My rib-eye was perfectly cooked to my liking, the garlic truffle mash was really good, and the sides you can do family style. The appetizers we had were also excellent. We had the oysters on the half shell and the ahi poke, both very good. I would definitely come back."

  • "My wife and I were celebrating our anniversary and were very disappointed with the level of service. We were required to pour our own wine and there was just a overall lack of professionalism and attention. We live in Honolulu and have dined at The Signature previously. However, we noticed a reduction in the number of diners on a Saturday night."

  • "Loved the service and food. The steak was cooked perfectly and was tender and flavorful. The scallops were a bit spicy but tender and delicious. The chocolate cake was possibly the best I have ever had! We were seated behind a group with 4 children who ran around and were very noisy. The adults were also talking in shout level voices. Not once did the adults talk to the children about their behavior and the restaurant staff didn't say anything either. I think normally it must be a beautiful romantic place, but the clientele left much to be desired. We will definitely give this place another chance because the food and service were excellent and the view was worth a million bucks. Hopefully we won't be seated next to the circus again!"

  • "As soon as we arrived we were welcomed and immediately seated. Our waiter (Jocko) extremely helpful and personable. He took time to explain the menu, made recommendations based on his personal favorites and past customers. We were not disappointed! We were given ample time to converse from the time we ordered our cocktails and in between each course. Even compted a couple of items (Terrific way to make a first impression!). Caesar Salad was very good. Our Main Courses were all prepared exactly as we had requested. Ribeye (Excellent!), Butterfish (just melted in our mouth) and Pork Chop (Wow!)... Can you tell we Had to Sample each others dishes?! Dessert - Cheese Cake and Pineapple/Kale Sorbet ... To Die For !!! Definitely Come Back"

  • "We had read an article in Sunset Magazine and decided to try Signature, we were very happy with the entire evening. We had calamari appetizer with a great fusion type sauce, lobster bisque and French onion soup. We stayed with steak for the main course, rib eye and filet. My wife and I had the rib eye medium rare...it was cooked perfectly...and to us was better than our last visit to Ruth's Chris. My sister had the filet well done...I wouldn't do that to a steak...and gave each of us a bite. I was surprised at how juicy and flavorful it was despite her ordering it we'll done. We skipped desert because we were stuffed. BONUS...they are located on the 36th floor and every table has a view."

  • "My third and last visit-I kept hoping it improve... Service was slow even though it was not very busy. Our drink order was taken quickly and dropped off but no one came back for the dinner order for quite some time. Bread was dropped off and still no dinner order taken. When the food did arrive 2 of the 3 meat entrees were not cooked as ordered. Took so long to get a server's attention that the other person in the party was nearly done eating. My steak was returned well done, not med and so extremely salty that I could only eat a couple of pieces. We wanted dessert and waited a long time before we were able to flag down another server. Sorry to say we won't be back. The prices are too high for that kind of service and mediocre dishes."

  • "we ordered the rib eye and it was very delicious, however it was not as tender as I had hoped and I thought it was a bit overseasoned. that said, the complementary truffle oil potatoes that came with the steaks was excellent. we enjoyed a dessert of chocolate layer cake while watching the night view and fireworks over the hilton hotel"

  • "The restaurant has gone through three chefs and sadly, the lack of consistency shows. We were disappointed with the scallop appetizer, which came to the table in a soupy mixture of Cajun and white cream sauces. The scallops were of good quality, but luke warm on the outside and ice cold in the center. Also, the lobster mac and cheese has changed. What used to be a beautiful combination of ample lobster chunks and cheesy goodness has evolved into a boat of noodles with that same Cajun sauce and less lobster. On the positive side, the steaks were delicious, albeit a bit over-seasoned, and the ambiance is probably most romantic in the city. We will return, but I'm hoping for an experience more like the Signature that we first experienced."
