The interior setting of The Restaurant at Alderbrook takes its inspiration from the outdoors with warm colors of chocolate brown and sage green representing the gardens and lawn of the resort. Floor-to-ceiling windows and multi-levels amplify views of the brilliant shore and snow-capped peaks of the Olympic Mountains.

The cuisine showcases local seafood harvested from Puget Sound and Hood Canal. After all, our shores are encrusted with oysters, our docks lined with mussels, and our sea teems with salmon.

  • "There is such a special feeling about dinner at Alderbrook. I have chosen it often when friends unexpectedly appear. My son really appreciates gourmet food. Add the beautiful setting and the expert servers. It was my way to let him know how wonderful it was to be with him and how much I wanted him to know this. My older son and a dear friend from many years ago completed the party. Perfect is the only word to describe our meal."

  • "I had scallops. They were delicious, the THREE that were served. Entrée was accompanied by a few sprigs of bok choy. That was it!! Would it have broken the bank to serve four scallops? How about a dollop of rice alongside this Asian style dish? Cost of this lunch was $24. The serenity of the beautiful dining room was disturbed by a crying infant in diapers whose family chose to carry him down to where the majority of the diners were and bounced him around until he quieted down."

  • "I made a last minute reservation and surprised my wife for our wedding anniversary. We were not let down - the food was great, the service was very nice, the view was amazing and toward the end of our dinner a live band started playing in the bar. We will definitely go back for special occasions. Bonus: even though we splurged financially for this, I felt like the food was good value too. Creative, delicious, with a local twist. We had the Duck Breast (crispy on the outside and pink on the inside) on Red Quinoa (made with ginger - genius!) and the special: Bacon wrapped scallops with mint cous-cous (super tender and buttery texture). And although only 35 minutes from Olympia it felt like another world. Highly recommended!"

  • "For the quality and price of the food the service should be MUCH BETTER. We stayed at the resort and so had breakfast and dinner each day. Breakfast was great both with the food and the service but dinner was something different We had starters , salad , and the main course and dessert. We are people who do not like our food thrown at us but 45 mins was way too long. We decided to give the restaruant another try so we went back for our 2nd night and the service was much better but the lag time between the salad and entree was still longer than one would like. I have to say that the food was so good that we would come back if in the area."

  • "Reserved online, mentioned special occasion. Hostess asked if special occasion, waitress never mentioned it. We ordered salads, clam chowder and an appetizer each so we'd have room for desert. The salads and clam chowder were good and my wife's crab cakes were nice and meaty. My steamer clams were plentiful and firm, but the broth had so much pepper in it I didn't eat but about 1/2. I mentioned to the waitress that the delicate clams were lost in the fire from the pepper. She came back and said the Chef was sorry and offered us a complementary desert. We chose a Creme Brulee to split and ordered cheese cake to go. The creme brulee was plenty large to split and well prepared. The sunset and boat ride home were probably the best part."

  • "The area under and all around our table was disgusting. Chunks of food and crab littered the ground where my family and I sat. As a fine dining General manager I find this to be unacceptable and lazy, paying over $100 for lunch it should be a given that the area I take my family to dine is clean. Just like a garnish on an entree, the table and surrounding area should be impeccable as to have the customer enjoying the experience before food or beverage is even served. When a plate of food shows up to your table beautifully plated and garnished you begin to enjoy before even having tasted. Same rules apply for the table and dining area. I was upset and the sight came across as being very thoughtless and I felt a lack of respect"

  • "Had the Mac n' Cheese in the lounge the first night and it tasted great. Oysters were good also. The omelet the next morning was really good. The second night my husband and I had the sole and were disappointed--didn't care too much for the sole and the sauce was a touch too salty. Would liked to have had more choice of seafood such as salmon and halibut. Ordered the same omelet the second morning and it wasn't quite as good--too much asparagus and the pieces were cut too large plus the omelet was a little oily."

  • "My daughters took my to Alderbrook resort for my birthday and the overall experience was nice. The resort was experiencing computer problems so the dinner was very prolonged and delayed. It took us over an hour to get our meals and was truly surprised there was no compensation offered. The order came and it was incorrect but luckily my daughter was flexible and just accepted the meal as it came. I would like to return and see what it's like when the resort is functioning as normal."

  • "We ate at the restaurant for breakfast around 9:30 on a weekday and it was quiet. The food was delicious, view was gorgeous of hood canal, and the service was wonderful. Yes, the prices are a little high but this isn't Denny's. We would definitely go back again on our next visit."

  • "We expected to have great service because Alderbrook is quite pricey. Our waitress rarely checked in on us. When we were done with our entrees, our plates sat I front of us for 20 minutes before anyone came around to pick them up. I ordered a single scoop of ice cream for dessert and the took another 15 minutes to arrive. The resort was beautiful, but not sure I would eat here again. I would expect much better service for the price."

  • "We took a weekend off to come to Alderbrook Resort. Not knowing the area we booked into the restaurant and after arriving from a long drive we were very pleased to find a menu that made us glad we had two nights to try different menu selections. The food was very good with interesting choices for ingredients that were not over the top and were fresh, seasonal and creatively combined. Our two children were equally pleased and chose not to eat off of the children's menu as the main one was so tempting. It was truly a treat and breakfast was equally good and we were hard pressed to make choices. In the end all were shared as the meals appealed to all."

  • "first cup of coffee served just warm and strong. Second one not much better. Had to order eggs from menu instead of being on buffet line. Took almost 20 minutes to get scrambled eggs. Could not coordinate having bacon and potatoes on plate at same time with the eggs. The buffet tables were not cleaned. There was spilled food and gravy on the table cloths. Very over priced! Four of us went based on passed Easter Brunches but one was really bad. Staff was tearing down the tables and running the vacuum while we were still at our table! Never again "

  • "excellent as always. We go to Alderbrook often. They were very, very busy BUT the staff were doing an excellent job. We were told they had 200 more than last years Easter brunch. The food was great as always, eggs benedict were the best we have ever had, shrimp cocktail sauce was so good I asked for the "secret ingredient", not sharing. All in all a very pleasurable experience. I will be going back next month for a "girls" birthday lunch which the four of us "girls" look forward too. "

  • "With a family of 4, we are very mindful of having the children sit for too long waiting for food. And in this case, food took an extremely long time. The server also took the drink orders for the adults, but left before taking orders for the kids, which was strange. There is a thin line between waiting for fine dining and everyone twiddling their thumbs looking for ways of entertaining the kids once the bread and appetizer is gone. This experience was definitely the latter."

  • "I stayed two nights in the lodge. The first evening my dinner was too salty and it was sent back with no problem. I didn't have to wait long for a the replacement meal. The vegetables were substituted for the ones I wanted. Second night I was greeted by name, "Hello, Miss. ..." And the wait staff from the previous evening greets me as well as the manager came to my table to say hello and ask how I was enjoying myself. So gracious everyone. The second evening, once again, I asked for a vegetable replacement and it was done with no issues. I was seated by the window both evenings, it's a lovely view. I will come back. (I'd been twice before a few years ago, the food wasn't as good.)"

  • "I had 3 meals during my stay. Lunch was a disappointment. The waiter ordered the wrong salad even though I asked questions about my choice. There was a long delay while the correct salad was ordered. He apologized & the manager apologized. Did they comp me anything? No. Did they reduce my bill? No. As someone who worked in the food industry for years, this did not sit well with me. Dinner was fine, but nothing to rave about. Breakfast was excellent and our waitress was a gem that time. I do not understand why a restaurant of this caliber does not understand how to treat its customers when they make an error. This left me wary during my next two meals."

  • "The oysters are harvested daily so they are very fresh. Food presentation is very nice. I had the scallops, cooked to perfection and the tiramisu was more than enough for two people. The view of the canal is available from every table. Prices are not for the faint of heart however. The tab for 2, including one cocktail, an order of oysters on the half shell, split salad, 2 fish entrees, and one dessert was $160. If ordering steak, the tab would be @$200."

  • "Was so looking forward to checking this place out. Alderbrook resort is amazing and was cautious about the restaurant. How could a resort be amazing and have good food. Well the dinner was less than spectacular. The bummer is the restaurant was beautiful, the views amazing and the service was great, but the food was not good. My drink, a raspberry cosmo was very good and the salad I ordered, the grilled vegetable salad was good. Oh and the decaf coffee was tasty too. The appetizer of calamari was drenched in a sauce that ruined the calamari, was so disappointing. I always order calamari at restaurants but would not order this again here. The calamari itself was very good but the sauce ruined it."

  • "Our server made me feel like the most important guest she had seen that day. The food was amazing. We shared the crab cakes appetizer. The cakes we perfectly cooked and seasoned. The whole grain accompaniment was an unexpected treat. For dinner I had the rack of lamb which just melted in my mouth! The only thing that was not 100% to my liking was the Brussels sprouts that came with the lamb. The bacon flavor was a bit overpowering and made the sprouts too salty. For dessert, I was brought a complimentary crème brulee for my birthday. It was a delightful end to the meal. We went back for breakfast the next morning. The Croque Madame I had was a fantastic combination I have never had before. We will absolutely be back as soon as possible!"

  • "Travel here for the overall combination of food and ambiance. Having been here several times, we thought the menu choices had been improved with something for everyone. All the tables have a lovely view of the water and mountains. Most of all on this visit was exceptional service which made the visit even more enjoyable. While the location is great for a special occasion, the menu is priced right for an anytime visit."

  • "Ate dinner twice during happy hour, in lounge. Ordered Mediterranean pita/hummus/eggplant, etc. plate: very good. Fish tacos also good. Most other options: fatty. Alway try to find food that is both delicious AND healthy; often hard to do. Had good French 75 (but should have been colder..chilled glass, perhaps?). Servers friendly, professional. Breakfasts were good. Loved citrus Greek yoghurt with granola (house made) and seasonal fruit (sweet and juicy, even in March!) for breakfast. Disappointed with coffee (slightly bitter). Our entrees in dining room: duck and fettucini - good taste but too heavy; rolled, stuffed eggplant dish- too salty and very greasy. Loved baby kale salad! Squash soup also good."

  • "The food was very good once we finally got something we would eat and received the food. However, it took a long time between ordering and actually getting the food. We also felt a bit tricked because when we ordered our entrees the waitress asked if we would like soup salad or something else with it, making it sound like it came with it (and she knew we had never been there before). So my husband and i both said salad. When we received the bill this was not the case and it was another $10+ for the salads. we were duped."

  • "4 of us ate at the restaurant twice for dinner and twice for breakfast. Service was friendly and helpful, but rather slow. We all enjoyed the clam chowder's smoky bacon flavor. Other starters we liked: ceviche,Grand Marnier prawns, calamari with a spicy harissa, and the apple pomegranate salad (which was fresh and bright tasting, but could have had more of the oranges described in the menu). All of the entrees we tried were very good; rib steak and scallops were the favorites. Starches and veggies were creative and tasty. Favorite dessert was the Berry Cello. Breakfast and brunch were pretty ordinary. "Home Fries" were just deep fried potato cubes. Croque Madame disappointed with a bland, broken sauce and brioche that was overly sweet."

  • "The atmosphere of the restaurant is lovely and inviting, but the food was not, at least for adults. The children's food was much better than the expensive main courses for adults, the latter a big disappointment. Service was late (not the server's fault, however), and the food was not of the quality we had anticipated. We ate at the restaurant the following evening, however, and ordered salads with shrimp, which were good. The service on the 18th was wonderful, and we felt much better about the restaurant then. You just have to order something simple."

  • "This is such a lovely pleace. Our third time having a meal and we have spent the night as a gift from our children. It is peaceful, the wait staff are kind and friendly and attend to their customers well without being in your face. The water views are lovely and the location althought out a ways is a nice drive to get to. I would love to have any meal here a couple times a month. Oh the food? Top notch, speaking as a foodie and with a exec chef and my dining partner... he was very impressed. That is a huge PLUS with us. He is often times not happy with his meal. :-)"
